Orania slams EFF, reveals why Afrikaner town SHOULD exist
On Tuesday, 22 April, the political party marched to the Premier's office, handing over a memorandum to authorities to legally view the community's status.
In their official Facebook page, Orania leaders condemned the call to action by the Northern Cape EFF, particularly provincial leader Shadrack Tlhaole.
The post contained the community's various reasons why Orania should have the right to exist.
It read: 'We do not demand, and we do not beg. All our efforts are directly focused on construction, not on denying anyone else's rights.
'We encourage people to build schools, communities, and more. This is what the Oranians have been doing for more than thirty years with scarce resources.
'Orania exists in terms of article 235 of the constitution, historical agreements and recognition, and a God-given international law, and is completely legal. Orania is and remains an African community.
Calling their town a 'Utopia', the post continued: 'A future must be built! Orania is building, and everyone is welcome to learn from it!
'Orania is not an organization that can be disbanded. We are a community, a home for our people. So, Orania will not fall; Orania will stand'.
In a statement issued to The South African , the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) backed Orania's right to exist.
Northern Cape leader and MP, Dr. Wynand Boshoff, shared: 'Since its founding, the VF Plus has been advocating self-determination, as embodied by Orania, among others. Therefore, the party unequivocally rejects the EFF's demands.
'In a multi-ethnic country like South Africa, there is often a majority that pays lip service to recognising diversity but, in reality, denies it. Such a policy denies minorities the leeway to maintain a dynamic culture through various institutions. This is typically done in the name of national unity.
He added: 'The opposite approach is to grant minorities all the room they need for cultural expression and even for government to promote such expression'.

However, he said it is clear that he is attempting to discredit the ANC on the continent. 'Zuma appears to be playing a deliberate political game of disruption against the ANC. In a recent press briefing, Zuma's party said it sees nothing wrong with his association with countries that have strained relations with South Africa. Some of these countries include countries where power was taken forcefully by certain militia groups and have not been recognised as democracies by Pretoria. His visit to Morocco became controversial when the South African flag was flown at the bilateral. Zulu royal council defends King Misuzulu's proposed R10 monthly contribution for his independence

Image: Independent Media Archives Zulu royal council chairperson Inkosi Zuzifa Buthelezi has lashed out at those who have politicised the proposed monthly R10 contribution to make king Misuzulu kaZwelithini and the royal family financially independent from government. Entering the debate for the first time, the royal council accused those opposed to the gesture as anti-ubukhosi (traditional leadership) in the country. Buthelezi, who is also the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi's son, said his council sees no problem with the proposal as it is voluntary and has been a historical cultural practice in African traditional leadership that the subjects from time to time will pay a 'khonza fee'' (to pledge their allegiance) as a gesture of appreciation to their king. "This is not new and every time that people, politicians and businesspeople visit the king, they come with different presents, including monetary gifts. We do not understand the noise about this proposal and we suspect that those opposed to it are anti-ubukhosi who want the government to control the traditional leaders through salaries and cultural funding for political reasons. He said it was strange that people make offerings every Sunday to the church and no one complains about it because they understand the church and the pastor need to be financially maintained, however, when the king's subjects want to do the same, people raise the issue of unemployment as if they are being forced to support the king. Zulu royal spokesperson Prince Thulani Zulu also defended the proposal, saying the advisors, as the king's subjects themselves, are entitled to their opinion.
