Kajol Felt 'Helpless' During Ajay Devgn And Yash Raj Films Clash Over Son Of Sardaar: 'Fights Are Always...'
Kajol opens up about the emotional toll of being caught between Ajay Devgn and Aditya Chopra during the Son of Sardaar vs Jab Tak Hai Jaan clash.
Kajol has opened up about the emotional conflict she experienced during the highly publicized clash between Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar and Yash Raj Films' Jab Tak Hai Jaan back in 2012. In a candid conversation with The Lallantop, the actress reflected on being caught between two people she deeply cares about—her husband, Ajay Devgn, and longtime friend Aditya Chopra.
When asked about how she dealt with the controversy, Kajol admitted it was emotionally taxing. 'Fights are always difficult, especially when they remain unresolved for some time. At that point, when you have a situation like that in front of you, both parties were standing for themselves," she said.
She went on to describe how torn she felt during that period. 'As somebody who was connected to both sides, I felt helpless. You have to wait for time to pass, so that the feelings subside. So that things can become ok again."
Taking a philosophical view of the situation, Kajol added, 'Change is change, it is neither good nor bad. It is written somewhere that change is eternal. It is the only thing which is constant."
The clash stemmed from a complaint filed by Ajay Devgn's production house—then Ajay Devgn FFilms—with the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The complaint alleged that Yash Raj Films had misused its dominant position in the market by securing maximum screens for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, thereby limiting screen space for Son of Sardaar, which was scheduled for the same Diwali release.
While both films eventually released and performed well, the behind-the-scenes friction was widely reported and marked a rare moment of open tension between major Bollywood camps.
On the work front, Kajol was recently seen in Maa, a mythological horror film directed by Vishal Furia and co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. Released on June 27, the film marked her return to the horror genre. She will next be seen in the action-thriller Sarzameen, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The film is set to stream on JioHotstar from July 25.

Their agency Ascend announced on the 11th that they will hold an additional concert for "2025 fromis_9 WORLD TOUR NOW TOMORROW. IN SEOUL" on August 8th at 7:30 PM. This means fromis_9 will meet their fans for three consecutive days at Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul on August 8th, 9th, and 10th. This world tour marks their first concert in approximately 1 year and 8 months since their solo concert 'FROM NOW' held last year, making it even more meaningful as fromis_9's first-ever world tour. The explosive interest from fans was evident when tickets sold out immediately upon opening on the 8th. This 'sold-out' phenomenon is familiar to young people everywhere, much like how Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan movie tickets vanish within minutes on opening day. Korean K-pop fandom culture, similar to Bollywood star fandoms, demonstrates unconditional love and support for artists. They represent crucial decisions that determine an artist's musical direction, scope of activities, and future vision. For fromis_9, the transfer to Ascend after their contract termination with Pledis Entertainment has enabled them to receive more focused support. This change can be understood in a similar context to cricket players transferring to different IPL teams. It's about seeking better environments and opportunities to start new challenges. K-pop Industry's Agency Transfer Trends Recently, idol group agency transfers have become a new trend in the K-pop industry. What once signified group disbandment or member departures is now perceived as new growth opportunities. Fan perceptions have also changed dramatically. While the past followed an 'N-1=0' formula where losing even one member meant the end of a group, there's now a stronger tendency to prioritize individual members' growth and happiness. This demonstrates the development of a mature fandom culture that respects artists' personal choices. Cases are increasing where BLACKPINK members establish individual agencies or EXO members sign personal activity contracts with different companies. These changes signify an era where idols are no longer completely dependent on their agencies and can independently design their careers.
