Dolly Parton reveals how to cope with loss in heartbreaking message to Kelly Clarkson

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Country music icon, Dolly Parton, has reached out to American Idol star, Kelly Clarkson, after the death of the singer's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, 48
Dolly Parton has offered her friend Kelly Clarkson some words of advice after the tragic death of her ex-husband. Brandon Blackstock died last week, aged 48, after losing his battle with cancer; five months after Dolly's husband, Carl Dean, passed away, leaving the Jolene star heartbroken.

Dolly shared her words of wisdom for Kelly shortly after her friend and fellow country singer Reba McEntire — who was Blackstock's former stepmother — broke her silence about his death.

Reaching out to Reba and Kelly, Dolly advised the women to focus on the happier memories they have of Brandon. It comes after it was revealed that the talent manager was in a relationship with Kelly's former assistant before he died.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dolly said: "I think that you just have to be grateful for the years that you've had with someone, and just try to remember the very best of all that."
She also suggested that those dealing with grief should take the "energy" from those better times in the past and "just recycle "that' and "let that become a part of you."

Dolly added that Kelly, who shares two children with Brandon, whom she was married to for seven years, should "honour" his memory, concluding that the star should take comfort in knowing that their loved ones "are in a better place than we are these days."
When asked if she had spoken to Kelly since Brandon's death, Dolly admitted that she hadn't yet but would "catch up with her" because "I love Kelly."

She explained: "No, I have not," adding that she had been busy promoting her new memoir Star Of The Show: My Life On Stage.
"But I will, I'll catch up with her," Dolly added.
The star also said that she would have a chance to see Reba soon, as they were going to be working together to sort out publicity for her new book.

"I love Reba and I love Kelly," Dolly declared, before explaining into how difficult it is to keep up with her friends and their busy show business schedules.
In March, Dolly suffered her own tragedy when her beloved husband, Carl, died after nearly 60 years of marriage to the 9 to 5 star.
In a tearjerking tribute, Dolly looked on the "many wonderful years" the pair spent together as she shared deep love for Dean and thanked fans for their prayers.
She said: "Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy."
The couple had been married since 1966.

Home Alone director reveals why a reboot would be a huge ‘mistake'

Chris Columbus has shed light on why Home Alone 'should be left alone' and not rebooted. The iconic Christmas film was released in 1990 and catapulted Macaulay Culkin to superstardom as youngster Kevin McCallister, who is left to fend for himself when his family accidentally go on holiday without him. His quick-thinking saves the day when he's forced to go up against bumbling burglars Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), who learn the hard way not to mess with kids during the holidays. The movie was a huge success and went on to spawn an equally epic sequel the following year – with Disney dropping a fresh take on the classic in 2021. However, when questioned on whether he would want to see any further remakes, director Chris insisted that it would be a 'mistake' to go back. Appearing at the premiere for his new Netflix movie, The Thursday Murder Club, he told Entertainment Tonight: 'I think Home Alone really exists not as this timepiece, but it was very special moment. You can't really recapture that. 'I think it's a mistake to try to go back and recapture something we did 35 years ago. I think it should be left alone.' Sharing his surprise that the movie is so beloved more than three decades on, he added: 'When we were making Home Alone, we wanted people to still enjoy the movie 20 years down the road, but we had no concept that it would still be this locomotive that keeps keeps going after all these years. 'It's a very nostalgic experience for a lot of people, it's great.' The franchise was remade in 2021 with Archie Yates playing youngster Max, who – like Kevin – was accidentally left behind when his family swanned off to Japan. He was having the time of his life with his new-found freedom until a couple set their sights on his home, hoping to retrieve a priceless heirloom. Home Sweet Home Alone didn't quite capture the magic of the original film, and was brutally panned by both fans and professionals. More Trending It currently commands a 13% Rotten Tomatoes score from the audience, compared to a slightly higher critics mark of 15%. 'A disgrace to Home Alone,' viewer BlueTop B fumed, as Amilia P agreed: 'One of the worst movies I've ever seen.' 'It really is very remarkably bad,' Tim L complained. As Logan D added: 'If I could give it zero stars I would, just watch the original.' Got a story? Kelly Clarkson's ex Brandon Blackstock's cause of death revealed

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's official cause of death has been revealed. Last week it was announced that the ex of the American Idol star, 43, had died at the age of 48. 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,' a representative confirmed to People. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' A few days on the publication reported his official cause of death. 'Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family,' Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis said, confirming that Blackstock's cause of death was melanoma, a form of skin cancer and that the manner of death was natural causes. The document has now revealed that Blackstock had cancer for three years before his death. Seizures were also listed as 'significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.' Blackstock was a talent manager, who once managed Blake Shelton and Clarkson, and was also the former stepson of Reba McEntire. His death certificate listed his occupation as a rodeo producer in the rodeo industry. It also revealed that no autopsy was performed and Blackstock was cremated. Clarkson and Blackstock began dating in 2012 before tying the knot in 2013. News of his death was revealed publicly just a day after she announced the postponement of the rest of her August Las Vegas residency dates in order to look after the former couple's daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, saying that her ex-husband had been 'ill'. Clarkson and Blackstock announced their split in 2020, and a bitter divorce battle followed, finalising in 2022. In recent years, he had settled in Montana to focus on founding Vallet View Rodeo, going 'under the radar' following his career in show business. 'He was at home in Montana,' a source told US Weekly, reflecting on his last weeks alive and death. They said he spent 'more [time] than ever before' with his family while undergoing treatment during the last six months of his life. Clarkson was not caring for Blackstock, they said, but she made sure their children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, nine, spent time with their father. 'She did spend a lot of time traveling with her kids to be with him,' the insider shared. 'He loved having his family with him and loved when the kids would visit,' the source said. 'He loved his animals and that was a passion he shared with his daughter Savannah.' Blackstock also has two children – Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18 – with his ex-wife, Melissa Ashworth, from whom he split in 2012. Savannah, who announced her second pregnancy just weeks before her father's death, was allegedly 'with him almost all the time' in the end. 'She has been having an incredibly difficult time. They were very close. Everyone is in shock,' the insider said. They continued: 'Even a few months back he looked okay. He looked thin but he looked like himself. No one can believe it.' Clarkson, 43, cancelled dates in her Las Vegas residency ahead of the news to 'be fully present' with her children. More Trending 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' she wrote on social media. 'I appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.' While Clarkson is yet to comment publicly on the death of her former husband, it's believed she is 'devastated', especially for her children. 'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,' a source told People. View More » 'Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. Kelly Clarkson's ex Brandon Blackstock suffered seizures before passing

Brandon Blackstock's death was not an easy one. According to his death certificate, the ex-husband of talk show host Kelly Clarkson suffered from multiple seizures before his passing. The former stepson of Reba McEntire had been fighting skin cancer - malignant melanoma - for three years. He died last week at his home in Butte, Montana at the age of 48. People obtained the death certificate from the Butte-Silver Bow County Clerk and Recorder's office on Thursday. His death is marked as from 'natural causes.' The rodeo producer reportedly had 'significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.' No autopsy was performed on Blackstock and he was cremated, according to the death certificate. Brandon was married to the Clarkson from 2013 to 2022; during their marriage, they welcomed two children together, daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remy, nine. The late music manager was also father to daughter Savannah, 23, and son Seth, 18, both of whom he shared with his first wife Melissa Ashforth. Blackstock also became a grandpa in January 2022 when his daughter Savannah welcomed her first child, a son named Lake Lee, with her husband Quentin Lee . Just one month before Brandon's death, his daughter Savannah had announced that she was expecting a second child, a baby girl, with her husband. Meanwhile, the father of Clarkson 's former assistant Brittney Marie Jones, who was dating her ex-husband Blackstock before his death, claims they were 'soulmates.' Jones' dad broke his silence on the matter in a Facebook post that has since been made private. 'Yesterday we lost a good man, Brandon Blackstock, my daughter's soulmate, and I considered him my son,' he wrote on a now private post, seen by Page Six . 'My sincere condolences to Brittney Jones and family. We're sure going to miss your funny humor. R.I.P hoss!' Blackstock's online obituary , released on Tuesday, revealed that he had been in a relationship with Jones and was quietly building a new life with her in Montana , previously unknown to many fans. 'After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,' the obituary read. 'He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.' It went on: 'Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.' In a bombshell revelation, a December 2024 report on Blackstock and Jones' rodeo business listed Jones as Clarkson's 'former assistant.' A prior LinkedIn profile for Jones highlighted in the report reveals she served as an executive assistant to Brandon Blackstock as well as an assistant to Kelly Clarkson while Blackstock managed the singer. 'I successfully assistant managed day to day for artist, Kelly Clarkson under manager, Brandon Blackstock in Los Angeles for music and television,' the profile read, according to The Sun . 'After a change in management for Ms. Clarkson, I transitioned to Executive Assistant for Mr. Blackstock's cattle operation in Montana, where I currently run the office and handle administration work. 'I also currently fulfill personal assistant duties for Mr. Blackstock.' Jones' LinkedIn also identifies her as the Executive Assistant of V Bar V Cattle Co. LLC — formerly Vintage Valley Ranch — one of Blackstock's companies, further tying her to his post-divorce life in Montana. A representative for the family confirmed Blackstock's death in a statement on Thursday, August 7, which read: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. 'We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' In a statement shared online on Wednesday, August 6, Clarkson revealed a health-related issue with Blackstock forced her to postpone her Las Vegas residency. 'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' she wrote. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.
