Kelly Clarkson's ex Brandon Blackstock's cause of death revealed
Last week it was announced that the ex of the American Idol star, 43, had died at the age of 48.
'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,' a representative confirmed to People.
'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.'
A few days on the publication reported his official cause of death.
'Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family,' Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis said, confirming that Blackstock's cause of death was melanoma, a form of skin cancer and that the manner of death was natural causes.
The document has now revealed that Blackstock had cancer for three years before his death. Seizures were also listed as 'significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.'
Blackstock was a talent manager, who once managed Blake Shelton and Clarkson, and was also the former stepson of Reba McEntire.
His death certificate listed his occupation as a rodeo producer in the rodeo industry.
It also revealed that no autopsy was performed and Blackstock was cremated.
Clarkson and Blackstock began dating in 2012 before tying the knot in 2013.
News of his death was revealed publicly just a day after she announced the postponement of the rest of her August Las Vegas residency dates in order to look after the former couple's daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, saying that her ex-husband had been 'ill'.
Clarkson and Blackstock announced their split in 2020, and a bitter divorce battle followed, finalising in 2022.
In recent years, he had settled in Montana to focus on founding Vallet View Rodeo, going 'under the radar' following his career in show business.
'He was at home in Montana,' a source told US Weekly, reflecting on his last weeks alive and death.
They said he spent 'more [time] than ever before' with his family while undergoing treatment during the last six months of his life.
Clarkson was not caring for Blackstock, they said, but she made sure their children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, nine, spent time with their father.
'She did spend a lot of time traveling with her kids to be with him,' the insider shared.
'He loved having his family with him and loved when the kids would visit,' the source said. 'He loved his animals and that was a passion he shared with his daughter Savannah.'
Blackstock also has two children – Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18 – with his ex-wife, Melissa Ashworth, from whom he split in 2012.
Savannah, who announced her second pregnancy just weeks before her father's death, was allegedly 'with him almost all the time' in the end.
'She has been having an incredibly difficult time. They were very close. Everyone is in shock,' the insider said.
They continued: 'Even a few months back he looked okay. He looked thin but he looked like himself. No one can believe it.'
Clarkson, 43, cancelled dates in her Las Vegas residency ahead of the news to 'be fully present' with her children. More Trending
'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' she wrote on social media. 'I appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.'
While Clarkson is yet to comment publicly on the death of her former husband, it's believed she is 'devastated', especially for her children.
'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,' a source told People.

Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper stayed in field as wife went into labour with third child
Jeremy Clarkson lifted the lid the way Kaleb Cooper decided to prioritise farming over family life as his wife went into labour with their third child Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper is said to have stayed in a field to finish the harvest after learning his wife had gone into labour with their third child. Cooper, 26, has been managing Diddly Squat Farm for Jeremy Clarkson since the Prime show's debut in 2021. His down-to-earth attitude and willingness to challenge Clarkson have made him one of the most popular personalities on the show. Jeremy Clarkson outed the farm manager in his column for The Sun, writing: "The boy wonder Kaleb Cooper, who manages my farm, received word this week that his wife was in labour. 'Right,' he said. 'I'll be there when I've finished harvesting this field.'" Clarkson incredulously added: "How farmerish is that?!?!" According to Clarkson, once Cooper completed the harvest, his attention turned to naming the baby. This comes after a Clarkson's Farm star teased a filming update for the Prime show after some 'devastating' news. A friend suggested naming the child after the field where Kaleb had received the call, but Clarkson noted one issue: "The field was called Deadman." Earlier this summer, Cooper issued a warning on Instagram after spotting Chinese lanterns released over Chipping Norton during a heatwave. In the video, he fumed: "I've just called this in to 999 but someone has felt the need to light two Chinese lanterns in and around the Chipping Norton area. They are currently floating over the area. I'm looking at both of them as we speak right now." He continued: "But what goes through someone's mind when they decide to light two Chinese lanterns in the middle of a heatwave. We've hardly had any rain since March. Jesus, honestly. What's going on with the world." Followers came out in support of Cooper, pointing out how dangerous floating lanterns can be for dry farmland. Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service has previously warned that sky lanterns are a "significant" hazard, and pose risks to agriculture, livestock, camping, and properties. The update on Cooper's personal life comes at a difficult time for the Diddly Squat team. Clarkson recently confirmed that the farm has been affected by bovine tuberculosis. He took to X to share the sad update, writing: "Bad news from Diddly Squat. We've gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated." He later added: 'We're now locked down and it's just dreadful, absolutely dreadful.' The restrictions will remain in place for at least two months, with another test required before livestock operations can resume. Clarkson confirmed the farm shop remains open. Clarkson also shared that one of his dog Arya's puppies had died, which only adds to the list of difficulties that workers on the farm have been facing this summer.

Clarkson's Farm star teases filming update after 'devastating' news
Jeremy Clarkson's partner and Clarkson's Farm star Lisa Hogan has delivered an update to fans. Lisa Hogan, partner of Clarkson's Farm star Jeremy Clarkson, has hinted at a season five filming update while celebrating some "good" news. The farming team has faced a challenging time recently as Top Gear star Clarkson, 65, disclosed just days ago that his Oxfordshire farm, Diddly Squat, had been struck with bovine tuberculosis. Adding to their troubles, he later announced the sad news that one of the puppies born to his dog Arya had died. "Bad news from Diddly Squat. We've gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated," he initially shared on X. "We're now locked down and it's just dreadful, absolutely dreadful," he subsequently added, confirming Diddly Squat will be closed for at least two months before they can conduct another test, though the farm shop would remain "unaffected" by the lockdown, reports Gloucestershire Live. Meanwhile, Lisa has been keeping fans informed about the remaining puppies, and recently shared a farming update on Instagram. Alongside a video of a combine harvester with a picture of what seemed to be a filming crew by the tractors at the end, she penned: "Good day, very good day in the office." One fan queried if Clarkson's Farm star Gerald would be handling the harvest this year, to which Lisa responded: "All will be revealed..." "How is the harvest this year?" another enquired, with Lisa replying: "Scorched." "Great work to all Cotswold farmers. I recently captured harvest for a nearby farm was amazing," another fan commented. One fan reminisced: "I remember that feeling of satisfaction seeing the combine going up and down the field. A job well done!". Another viewer commented: "I've just watched episode 8 from last year so hopefully this harvest is better for you." Last November, Clarkson revealed the upcoming fifth season of his popular show during a Bonfire night celebration, with drones lighting up the sky in the background. He declared: "Over the years, bright lights in the sky have been used to make many important announcements – the birth of baby Jesus, for example." As the drones formed the number five, he added: "But tonight, they're being used to make an announcement that's even bigger than that. Season 5 of Clarkson's Farm is coming." However, he later hinted at a potential hiatus before the sixth season. Speaking to The Times, he admitted: "Whatever happens we'll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. "We've been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest."
