The "Freakier Friday" premiere was also a "Parent Trap" reunion for Lindsay Lohan and two of her former co-stars.
Lohan stepped out on the purple carpet Tuesday night in Los Angeles with Elaine Hendrix and Lisa Ann Walter.
Hendrix famously portrayed Meredith Blake in the hit 1998 film while Walter played Chessy.

The film followed Lohan's characters, twins Annie and Hallie, who are separated at birth and discover each other for the first time at summer camp, where they create a plan to bring their parents back together.
On the "Freakier Friday" premiere carpet, Hendrix, who makes a cameo in the movie, and Walter spoke to "Good Morning America" about what they remember most about working with Lohan all those years ago and seeing her as a mother now.
"Working for Disney is always a blast and a blessing," Hendrix said. "And I was very happy to see her. It had been a while, you know, she was a little girl the last time I saw her, and now she's all grown up and beautiful."
"And happy and a mom," said Walter, who added that seeing Lohan as a mom is what she "imagined" it would be.
Walter said, "When we knew her when she was a little girl, she was very responsible, she was in charge of her brothers and sister, and she was an amazing big sister in that family, and I think this is just an extension of that."
While speaking with "GMA," Lohan said that returning as Anna in "Freakier Friday" felt "a lot more personal" this time around.
"I got to bring what I've learned from being a mom into the story of playing a mom," she said. "There's a difference in the kind of empathy when you're a mom, and it was really exciting to play a mom for the first time on screen."
The upcoming film, directed by Nisha Ganatra, features Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their roles as Anna Coleman and Tess Coleman, respectively. Like the previous "Freaky Friday" film, which premiered in 2003, the duo switches bodies again in the sequel. This time, Anna now has a daughter of her own, along with a soon-to-be stepdaughter.
When asked if a "Parent Trap 2" would ever get the sequel treatment, Hendrix and Walter said that while "it gets talked about a lot," a sequel is not up to them.
However, they said they aren't opposed to one.
"We're not going to say no," Hendrix said.
"If Nancy writes it," Walter added, referring to "The Parent Trap" writer and director Nancy Meyers. "If Nancy writes it or if she approves it, then this can happen."
The star-studded "Freakier Friday" premiere featured a stacked guest list with all the film's stars including Lohan and Curtis, Manny Jacinto, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons and Chad Michael Murray.
Lohan's husband Bader Shammas was also at the premiere to support his wife and was all smiles as he posed for photos with her on the carpet.
The event also featured a surprise performance by Christina Vidal Mitchell and Haley Hudson, who played Anna's two best friends and Pink Slip bandmates Maddie and Peg, respectively, in "Freaky Friday."
Ganatra told "GMA" on Tuesday that bringing "Freakier Friday" to life was a joy, and that she and the cast were "laughing so hard on set."
She added that the movie was important for her to tell because of the film's message about family.
"This movie was so important to me, because it's about the families we choose," she said. "Because we're all born into a family, but sometimes that family doesn't always work out the way we hoped it would, or sometimes our families break apart for no reason at all on our part. So it's about the choice of bringing a family together, a blended family, families of origin and the families we choose, and how important it is to lead with love and keep everyone together. It doesn't just happen, you have to really make love and togetherness happen. So this movie's really an ode to everyone who worked so hard to keep their families loving and together."
"Freakier Friday" arrives in theaters on Aug. 8, 2025.
Disney is the parent company of ABC, ABC News and "Good Morning America."

Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas' Full Relationship Timeline

Summer 2025 has surprised us with several new relationships: Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson. Justin Trudeau and famous fan of space Katy Perry. And of course, Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise. Though when it comes to Ana and Tom, summer is simply when their relationship was confirmed with paparazzi pics These two have honestly been hanging out for a minute (while insisting that they're "just working together") and if you're wondering when things took a turn from the friend zone to whatever's happening over in Vermont, we have a timeline to dip into. The Daily Mail posts pics of Tom and Ana chilling in London after dinner, where they pose for photos with fans. Everyone's like WAIT, IT'S VALENTINE'S DAY, but then Ana is also seen with her rumored boyfriend Manuel Anido Cuesta. Meanwhile, a source tells People that Ana and Tom were simply "discussing potential collaborations down the line," and "appeared to have no romantic connection, just friends." Tom and Ana are spotted together again, this time arriving to London on a helicopter. The vibes are "huh." You guessed it: they're in London again! Pics or it didn't happen: Another day, another sighting (via TMZ) of Tom and Ana arriving to London via helicopter—and this time Tom is flying. The next day, a source tells People that they are "maybe" celebrating Anas' birthday together. The Daily Mail posts pics of Ana and Tom leaving David Beckham's 50th birthday together. Curious! A source tells Us Weekly that romance is blossoming between Tom and Ana. "It's low-key, still new and in the early stages," they say, adding that "Their romance is definitely on the down low." The insider also confirms that Ana and Tom's hang in February was to discuss work, but then a "relationship developed" into "feelings," leaving Tom "super smitten." "They've gone out on some dates and it's very low-key," the source adds. "It's in the early stages and he's been courting her.... She isn't looking for anything to move too fast, she's taking it really slow." Ana is asked about Tom on Good Morning America, saying "It's so much fun, and we're definitely working on a lot of things. Not just one, but a few projects with Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrieand, of course, Tom. I'm so excited." Ana tells Women's Wear Daily ,"Obviously, everyone knows I'm working with Tom Cruise. And of course I'm doing crazy training, as you do when you're working with Tom. It's another level that just keeps setting the bar higher and higher. But it's so much fun." Ana is once again asked about Tom, this time by Variety, and says "You know what, he supports every movie. He really wants the industry and cinema to do well and [wants] people going to the theaters. We're working together, so he got to see Ballerina, and he actually really liked it. He loved John Wick. It is very special that someone like him is supporting. It is really special, in general, to have other actors and people supporting each other. We can do well all together." Ana and Tom are spotted vacationing together in Spain while Ana reads Sierra Greer's book Annie Bot, about an AI robot who "was created to be the perfect girlfriend for her human owner" and was "designed to satisfy his emotional and physical needs." Mmkay! Meanwhile, People talks to a source who says the pair "have a special work relationship," and that Ana's been prepping for their first project together: "Tom is crazy hardworking and she's very excited to work with him. She calls it an opportunity of a lifetime." Tom and Ana are spotted at an Oasis show in the background of the second video in this post from DJ Goldie. They're spotted holding hands in Vermont in pics obtained by TMZ, seeeeeeemingly confirming the fact that they're more than friendly colleagues. A source tells People that Ana and Tom have "become incredibly close" and that "Ana loves Vermont. It's her place to rest and recharge. She was excited to host Tom and show him around. She took him to all her favorite spots." The insider adds that Ana "really enjoys spending time with him. They've become incredibly close and Tom continues to be a huge support — both personally and professionally." That brings us up to date, but stay tuned!

Hollywood Has Lost the Plot on Telling Stories

Up in the sky! Look! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... another summer of rehashes. The peak period for the box office is rarely full of the most original ideas. But even so, this year leaps over the offenses of the past with a single bound. The three biggest movies Hollywood studios have pinned their hopes on in 2025 are the third new take on Superman in the last 20 years, the fourth iteration of the Fantastic Four, and the sixth attempt to recapture the magic of 1993's Jurassic Park. The only US film to top $1 billion this year is Lilo & Stitch, another live-action remake tapping into Gen Z and millennial nostalgia. In 2024, there wasn't a single original film that broke the US box office top 15.

Chad Michael Murray on Possible 'One Tree Hill' Reboot

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Chad Michael Murray, who played Lucas on the 2000s drama One Tree Hill, told Newsweek that a reboot could give today's teens a show to relate to as they navigate the "current trials and tribulations of being a high school kid" in the age of social media. The 43-year-old actor sat down with Newsweek this week discuss Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel of Freaky Friday, his journey with mental health, reflections on his career, and the passion that continues to fuel his love for acting. What To Know Murray laughed when asked about the rumored reboot of One Tree Hill, telling Newsweek: "I don't have an answer for you." Newsweek has reached out to Netflix for comment via email. He did, however, speak to the value that a reboot might add, especially for today's younger generation. "The only thing I can say is that if they do a reboot, I think it would be really cool for the younger generation to have a show that they can identify with that deals with the current trials and tribulations of being a high school kid because, holy crap, like wow," he said. "I'm so grateful that I didn't grow up in the time of social media." Actor Chad Michael Murray speaks at the Newsweek office in Manhattan on July 29, 2025. Actor Chad Michael Murray speaks at the Newsweek office in Manhattan on July 29, 2025. Hellen Elizondo for Newsweek Murray continued by noting the difficulties of coming of age in the digital era. "I mean you screw up once and everybody in the school talks about it for the entire longevity of your career and then you get out and you aren't able to get away from it, so I hope there is a show out there that focuses on kids dealing with the current world," he said. The actor has repeatedly said he makes movies to offer audiences a brief escape from the various stresses of life, telling Newsweek that he wanted to become an actor in the first place to "make people happy." Austin Nichols, who played Julian Baker in the series, recently told People that while he doesn't know all the details about a potential reboot, "they made a deal with Netflix and they're working on the scripts." The show ran for nine seasons between 2003 and 2012. Nichols added: "I know there's been some notes going back and forth, so it's in a really good place. It's in a healthy place." Sophia Bush, who played Brooke Davis in the series, talked about reports of the reboot with ComingSoon, saying in June that "the pre-production stuff is tricky, but development is going very well. We'll see where we wind up." Deadline reported in 2024 that the reboot is in development. During Murray's conversation with Newsweek, he said that at times the One Tree Hill set was "an unhealthy environment for everybody. It was not a great set to be on," noting that while there were "some great people, some great actors," there was minimal leadership. Chad Michael Murray on Freakier Friday "Dare I say, it might be better than the first," said Murray, who reprises his role as Jake in the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved 2003 comedy Freaky Friday, which also sees the return of original stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. "It really genuinely is hysterical," he said about the upcoming film, joking that "it will make you live longer," adding that it is "going to lower your cortisol" and put the view on "cloud nine." Freakier Friday premieres on August 8.
