RM8m CBT trial of Vivy Yusof, husband to begin on April 13, 2026
Judge Rosli Ahmad set the trial dates for April 13 to 17, May 18 to 22, and June 8 to 12, 2026.
'The trial will run for 15 days, and the court has set the next case mention for Oct 27,' said Rosli.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin requested the court fix the trial dates agreed upon by both the prosecution and defence. Lawyer M. Athimulan is representing the couple.
Wan Shaharuddin told the court that the prosecution will call 26 witnesses to testify.
The accused, both 37, were not present in court today as their attendance had been exempted.
On Dec 5 last year, Vivy and Fadzarudin pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing CBT in their capacity as directors of FashionValet Sdn Bhd. They were accused of misappropriating investment funds entrusted to them by Khazanah and PNB by transferring RM8 million from FashionValet Sdn Bhd's company account to 30 Maple Sdn Bhd without the approval of FashionValet's board of directors.
The offence was allegedly committed at Public Bank Berhad, Bukit Damansara Branch, 36-40 Medan Setia 2, Plaza Damansara, Bukit Damansara, here, on Aug 21, 2018.
The charge, framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, provides for a minimum sentence of two years and a maximum of 20 years in jail, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.
They also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of jointly and dishonestly misusing company property, namely, RM8 million in investment funds from Khazanah and PNB belonging to FashionValet Sdn Bhd under Section 403 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which provides for an imprisonment of between six months and five years, along with caning and a fine upon conviction. — BERNAMA

Police probe upside-down Johor flag at Segamat hotel
SEGAMAT: Police have launched an investigation into a social media post showing the Johor state flag flown upside down at a hotel in the Taman Yayasan Commercial Centre here. Police probe upside-down Johor flag incident at Segamat hotel
SEGAMAT: Police are investigating an incident in which the Johor state flag was displayed upside down at a hotel here, sparking public uproar on social media. District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the incident was reported yesterday after a Facebook post showing the inverted flag at a hotel along Jalan Syed Abdul Kadir went viral. Checks revealed the flag had been put up for the National month celebrations but was mistakenly hung upside down by a foreign worker. The worker later corrected it after being alerted by a colleague. "The worker has valid travel documents and a work permit. Initial findings indicate there was no malicious intent," Ahmad Zamry said in a statement today. Five teenage girls to be charged for uttering threats to Zara Qairina
KUALA LUMPUR: Five teenage girls, who are expected to be charged this Wednesday in connection with the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, will face charges of issuing threats by using words deemed threatening in nature. Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, confirmed that all five, who are below 18, will be charged under Section 507c(1) of the Penal Code. Dusuki said the girls would be charged at the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court, where proceedings are usually conducted behind closed doors. "Five people will be charged this Wednesday at the Kota Kinabalu Juvenile Court, Sabah, for offences linked to the bullying case involving the late Zara Qairina. They are all under the age of 18," he said. Earlier today, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), in a statement, confirmed that it had reviewed the police investigation papers and decided to charge several individuals involved in the bullying case based on the available evidence. The A-GC said the decision to press charges for the bullying offence would not affect the inquest proceedings into the death of the 13-year-old student, which will be conducted in court. It stressed that despite the bullying charges being filed, police investigations into Zara Qairina's death would continue, including the inquest proceedings. Zara Qairina, a student of SMKA Tun Mustapha, was found unconscious at her school dormitory in Papar on July 16 and was pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
