MP Hussein Hajj Hassan says municipal election results show resistance stronghold remains unshaken
He pointed in particular to a recent milestone—the municipal and mukhtar elections—which began last Sunday and will continue in the coming weeks.
He noted that in the Mount Lebanon governorate, where lists backed by the Hezbollah-Amal duo ran, those lists either won uncontested or secured sweeping victories at the polls.
He said this outcome reflects the clear choice of that community, which "did not abandon the resistance during the war and will not abandon it under any circumstance, pressure, or incitement."
"No media campaign, incitement, or form of pressure will change us," he added, "whether it concerns the resistance, false accusations, disinformation, psychological warfare, or media intimidation."

In his homily, Father Rizk said that the presence of the president on this occasion remained a tradition until 1974, thanking Aoun for upholding it this year. "We pray for our wounded country in these delicate circumstances, where crises pile up... Our prayers accompany you in your exercise of national responsibilities," he said, addressing the president. Lebanon was shaken by the war between Hezbollah and Israel in 2023-2024, which continues in various forms despite a cease-fire agreement last November. The issue of the party's weapons, and the state's monopoly on arms, has returned to the forefront, creating deep tensions in the country. The government is expected to discuss this issue on Tuesday. On the occasion of Army Day on Aug. 1, Aoun reaffirmed the state's determination to regain its monopoly over weapons and the decision over war and peace, which garnered him much positive feedback but also harsh criticism from Hezbollah supporters.

Kurdish-led SDF say five members killed during attack by Islamic State in Syria
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said on Sunday that five of its members had been killed during an attack by Islamic State militants on a checkpoint in eastern Syria's Deir el-Zor on July 31. The SDF was the main fighting force allied to the United States in Syria during fighting that defeated Islamic State in 2019 after the group declared a caliphate across swathes of Syria and Iraq. Lebanon's Labor Minister heads to Baghdad to strengthen bilateral cooperation
Lebanese Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar departed Beirut on Sunday afternoon for Baghdad, leading an official delegation in response to an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al Asadi. The accompanying delegation includes the minister's advisors, Firas Zaiter and Hussein Mohaidly, along with Iman Khazaal representing the Labor Ministry.
