Eamonn Holmes in tears after violent clash with ex boss who threw mug at him

GB News host Eamonn Holmes has revealed he was once left in tears when a former editor slammed him for his work as things escalated between them and objects thrown
Eamonn Holmes has admitted he was left in tears at work after a shocking incident with his boss. The GB News presenter, 65, has had a long career on the small screen having worked on GMTV, Sky News and This Morning.
However, it wasn't always easy for Eamonn as he made his way up the ladder to be the successful broadcaster he is today. He admitted to breaking down in tears following a run-in with his previous boss.

Eamonn recalled working in journalism when he was 22-years-old: "My sports editor called me in and he said 'what's wrong with that script?' I read it, and I remember it was about darts. I went 'I don't know'.

"The next minute he fired a ceramic cup bang against the wall behind me. It smashed." Eamonn revealed it didn't stop there as he was again asked what was wrong with the script he had created.
The presenter admitted he still didn't know what the issue was. "He then lifted up a telephone, which had a wire on the end of it. He fired it and it hit the wall behind me," Eamonn told his shocked GB News colleagues.

He confessed: "I am beginning to feel my top lip shudder and I am going, don't cry, don't cry here. He said 'what is wrong with that script'." Eamonn told his boss that he still could not find the issue, which riled him up even more.
"He then lifted this Adler typewriter – metal Adler typewriter – and threw it down at my feet that I had to jump for," he shockingly recalled. "I then started to cry. I was 22-years of age and I thought this is awful."
In another unexpected move, Eamonn shared how a producer, who he called his "protector at the building", stepped in. "He just went up, and went into the office and this guy was a very big sports guy and he punched him," Eamonn revealed.

The former This Morning host even admitted he never found out what was wrong with his script despite the uproar it caused. It wasn't the last time Eamonn had a run-in with his colleagues though.
Last month, he branded some of his ex co-stars as "horrible" and "false, false, false". On his latest podcast episode of Things We Like, Eamonn was joined by co-presenter Paul Coyte and tough guy actor Ray Winstone.
Ray shared insights on his life in Los Angeles and how the Hollywood buzz led him back to the UK, starting Eamonn on a scathing rant about the entertainment world.
The seasoned presenter spoke in a mocking tone: "I don't like this character, I don't like so and so, I like that person, I didn't get on with them. That's what the business is based on. I mean, I'm like you [Ray]. I get myself into trouble because if I don't like someone, they'll know I don't like them."
Adding fuel to the fire, Eamonn remarked: "And there are so many horrible people that you end up with. People say: 'Oh, he's lovely, he's fantastic'. If they say to me: 'What's that Ray Winstone like?' I'll say he is lovely and he is fantastic and people will believe me because I wouldn't say it if you weren't, but so many are just false, false, false."

Masterchef's John Torode's relationship with former winner and recent controversy

Masterchef's John Torode's relationship with former winner and recent controversy John Torode has become a household name in both countries, but recently he has been mired in controversy John Torode (Image: Dave J Hogan, Dave) Chef John Torode has become a household name amongst cookery programme enthusiasts across the UK and Australia following two decades presenting BBC's MasterChef alongside Gregg Wallace. ‌ Despite the recent racism allegation surrounding Torode, the 21st series of MasterChef will be airing tonight, August 6. You can read more about the new series here. ‌ Banijay UK, the programme's production company, announced in November 2024 that they were examining historical misconduct allegations. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter . ‌ Following the Silkin report's release, both presenters have been dismissed from their roles, with Torode's departure coming after he acknowledged being the subject of an allegation regarding racist language use that was substantiated during the review into Wallace's conduct. In an Instagram statement, Torode admitted he was the individual accused of using racist language but insisted he had "no recollection of the incident" and expressed being "shocked and saddened" by the claim. However, his acknowledgement proved insufficient to secure a contract renewal for upcoming MasterChef series, a decision he discovered through media reports rather than official channels. Read all you need to know about that. ‌ Despite their good rapport, they insist their relationship remains strictly professional. (Image: BBC/Shine TV) Born in Australia, Torode relocated to the UK in 1991 and currently lives in London with his wife Lisa Faulkner, whom he met in 2010 when she triumphed in Celebrity MasterChef. Upon settling in the UK, he started his culinary journey as a sous chef at Quaglino's under the guidance of Sir Terence Conran. During his stint at Quaglino's, Torode crossed paths with Gregg Wallace, marking the beginning of their two-decade-long collaboration on MasterChef. At that time, Wallace was operating a vegetable business. ‌ Torode first demonstrated his cooking prowess to a national audience on ITV's This Morning in 1996, a role he held until 2000. During this time, Torode opened several restaurants, including Smiths of Smithfield in London around 2000, and Cafeteria, situated near Notting Hill Gate. Torode joined the MasterChef team in 2005 when the show underwent a revamp, stepping in as the main presenter alongside Gregg Wallace. The new format was a hit, and by 2011, MasterChef was being aired in over 25 countries. John Torode and Lisa Faulkner (Image: Getty Images) ‌ Whilst working on the show, he encountered his current wife Lisa during her appearance on Celebrity MasterChef in 2010, with the pair beginning their relationship several years afterwards before marrying in 2019. Though they connected immediately and remained friends following filming, Lisa maintains there was no initial romantic attraction. She revealed: "He was a judge on a show I loved and I was petrified of him. He was brilliant and gave us all tips so you didn't want to let him down. "All I could think was, 'That sauce hasn't worked'. I didn't see anything but food for three months. After I won, we did The Good Food Show and stuff. John and I always got on, but I never thought about me and him." ‌ In a heartfelt 2013 interview with the Daily Mail, Lisa disclosed the charming way her relationship with her husband blossomed from platonic to romantic after he sent her a letter and asked her out for dinner. She said: "John and I were friends. Neither of us thought of it as anything else." She reflected on the subtle shift in their dynamic, saying, "I don't know how things change, but something does. He asked me on a date. We went out for dinner. Then it was slightly different. I'm really, really happy. John and I are having such a nice time but we're taking things slowly. There are lots of other people to consider." Prior to tying the knot, Lisa opened up to Hello magazine about her personal life and her bond with Torode, describing him as a "patient, generous-hearted man." ‌ "He's a very different person to me. He is an alpha male in that he's a leader and provider. But then I'm probably very alpha female, and fiercely independent. But he'd say we're a team now. We both love yoga and looking after our bodies and mindfulness, as well as walking, eating, chatting, cooking." The pair have since joined forces professionally, presenting 'John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen', which returned to our screens in mid July. While Torode has remained largely silent regarding the allegations against his former colleague Wallace, his wife has spoken about her time on the programme. In December last year, she claimed the presenter continuously delivered 'rude joke after rude joke' throughout her appearance on MasterChef. ‌ Wallace was said to be profoundly disappointed when Torode and Lisa failed to support him amid the early accusations, prompting him to unfollow the couple on Instagram. Nevertheless, the duo appear unfazed by the drama occurring behind the cameras of MasterChef. In a statement posted on social media on July 15, Torode responded to the accusations levelled against him. He stated: "Following publication of the executive summary of the investigation into Gregg Wallace while working on MasterChef, I am aware of speculation that I am one of the two other individuals against whom an allegation has been upheld. "For the sake of transparency, I confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion. ‌ "The allegation is that I did so sometime in 2018 or 2019, in a social situation, and that the person I was speaking with did not believe that it was intended in a malicious way and that I apologised immediately afterwards. "I have absolutely no recollection of any of this, and I do not believe that it happened. "However, I want to be clear that I've always had the view that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment. I'm shocked and saddened by the allegation as I would never wish to cause anyone any offence." Article continues below Lisa broke her silence on her husband's dismissal from the long running cookery programme on social media. Read more on what she said. On a video posted to her Instagram Stories, the actress expressed her gratitude to her followers, saying: "Hi there, I just wanted to check in and say hello. I'm here and just thank you for all your lovely comments because they really, really mean a lot. So thank you."
