Rylan Clark shares painful relationship confession as he says 'I thought it'd be easier'
TV star Rylan Clark has confessed he believed his celebrity status would make the chances of meeting someone new "10 times easier" as he opened up about his quest for romance.
Following the breakdown of his marriage four years ago, the former X Factor favourite has been refreshingly frank about wanting to find love again.
During a recent heart-to-heart with close mates and fellow celebrities Emma and Matt Willis, he provided a revealing glimpse into his private life.
On his Rylan: How To Be In Love podcast, the celebrity couple offered their thoughts on what kind of partner Rylan should pursue next.
While they suggested he should seek someone who is "powerful" and "able to look after him", Rylan confessed he'd expected finding the right man to be far more straightforward.
Speaking to the married duo, he revealed how he'd assumed fame would simplify his quest for someone new: "I always used to think, and I'm sure you sort of thought this as well, especially you (Matt), you know, you're in a band, you think 'oh, I'll have people throwing themselves at me, I'm famous.' ".
He went on to elaborate: "I genuinely thought it'd be 10 times easier, because I've never been single and known (a celebrity)."
Rylan first crossed paths with his ex Dan Neal on Big Brother in 2013. At the time, Dan was a contestant on the show, while Rylan was part of the presenting team for its spin-off, Big Brother's Bit on the Side.
Fast forward two years from their reality TV encounter, and Rylan and Dan were saying their vows at Braxted Park Estate, Essex. The couple celebrated their special day surrounded by a host of celebrity guests, including Matt and Emma Willis, Katie Price, Eamonn Holmes, and Ruth Langsford.
While his personal life has had its ups and downs, Rylan's career has continued to go from strength to strength.
He first shot to fame as a contestant on the X Factor in 2012 and has since landed several high-profile broadcasting roles. These include hosting ITV's This Morning and co-starring with Robert Rinder on Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour.
In a recent career highlight, Rylan has been hosting his own BBC Radio 2 show, Rylan On Saturday, since 2019, following Zoe Ball's role change at the station.

Gary Lineker to host new ITV game show The Box

The Fortune Hotel kicked off this week with series 2 on ITV – and it's safe to say that viewers are well and truly hooked. In last night's second episode, there were two shocking eliminations. First, father and son duo John and Atholl were sent home after being handed the early checkout card, and then, at the end, brothers Jake and Mike became the next casualties. Metro spoke to both of the latest eliminated pairings, and one of them dropped an unexpected bombshell about how their exit came about… a revelation that they didn't even discover until months after they'd filmed. The first episode of the new series ended in an excruciating cliffhanger, as couple Nella, 31, and Tope, 34, had the power to give another pair the early checkout card. In the end, it was handed to Atholl, 30, and dad John, 58, with the former revealing that it wasn't until months after production had ended that he learnt that fellow contestant James was the reason they'd been booted out. 'As the game goes on, there'll be alliances coming together,' he said. 'I think if we had managed to get through that round, I would have maybe tried to get an alliance with a parent, because you're sometimes better as a double team until it gets near the end.' As for Jake, 29, and Mike, 33, they've had a fascinating journey on The Fortune Hotel, as they found themselves secretly holding the £250,000 fortune in just the first episode. However, in order to avoid any suspicion coming their way, they had to give the money away by swapping their briefcase with another pair. And I was whacking his leg, going, 'Definitely not', because obviously the cards could have come to us,' Jake recalled, emphasising the fear they had that someone else would give them the early checkout card. 'We did the right thing,' Mike acknowledged, as Jake continued: 'In that scenario, because the card had gone in front of us, we knew if we stopped, we could have gone there and then. So we had to get rid of it.' 'LOVE The Fortune Hotel,' Natasha wrote, while Dylan remarked: 'I wasn't sold on #TheFortuneHotel first series but I'm enjoying this second series a lot more!!' Thomas admitted that he 'can't wait for next week' after a 'fantastic episode', while Luke hailed it as 'the best reality TV show on the tele'. Gary Lineker ‘can't wait' to host new ITV show The Box after BBC exit
The former footballer, 64, who left the BBC One sports show in May, said he was excited and 'can't wait' to host The Box. In the show, 10 yellow boxes house a celebrity contestant who will be transported to unknown locations, before being released to face whatever game awaits on the other side of the door. Each week two players will face The Duel, a finale in which the loser leaves the competition for good. Lineker, who had presented Match Of The Day since 1999, said an emotional goodbye in an early departure from the broadcaster on May 26. It followed a social media row after he shared a post about Zionism, which featured a depiction of a rat, historically an antisemitic insult. Lineker, who was the BBC's highest-paid presenter, issued an unreserved apology for the social media video he shared, which led to his early exit from the BBC. Lineker was due to host BBC Sport's coverage of the FA Cup in the 2025-26 season. Lineker said: 'I can't wait to host The Box. I've always felt right at home in the box on a football pitch and whilst this is a different proposition, the fundamentals are similar. 'From the first time we saw those iconic yellow boxes open in an incredible location we were hooked. Now, with Gary on board, we have the ideal master of ceremonies to make this real event telly, he is after all a man who knows what it's like under pressure in the box. 'He's sure to raise the competitive spirit as our cast bursts out of those boxes, into unknown, ambitious and spectacular challenges.' The Box was first launched on TV2 in Norway in January this year. ITV's version of the show will be filmed in the UK later this year and air in 2026. Lineker also co-hosts The Rest Is Football podcast, which moved to internet sports streaming platform DAZN after he left the BBC.
