Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox on August 26
After launch, Helldivers 2 was a huge success, selling over 15 million copies and reaching 450,000 concurrent players on Steam, the highest number ever among PlayStation games released for the PC. In fact, there were so many players online that Sony briefly attempted to mandate PlayStation Network account linking, which set off a wave of negative reviews from frustrated gamers. The policy was eventually reversed.
In the announcement of the game's Xbox launch, Game Director Mikael Eriksson said, 'we know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.'
It's notable that this marks only the second time that Sony will publish one of its first-party titles on Xbox, after MLB: The Show . Time will tell if this is just another rare exception, or the start of a new trend by Sony allowing their games to reach more players . Players can pre-order digital copies of both the standard edition and the Super Citizen Edition for Helldivers 2 now. It's unclear if a physical copy of the game will be released.

This Unique Controller Is Cool but Pointless for Most Gamers
Pro-level game controllers have been becoming more mainstream over the past several years, offering gamers a host of new features not found on the controllers that came with their systems. These features include extra mappable buttons, swappable gamepads and other customizability options. However, I don't think I've ever seen a controller that offers two dedicated button layouts within the same device. The Stealth Pivot from Turtle Beach lets you physically rotate the gamepads to reveal a whole new, previously hidden, button layout -- all without having to remove anything. It's a unique take on what a controller can be and I'm here for it. What I like about the Stealth Pivot CNET / Jason Cockerham I've been impressed with Turtle Beach controllers for a while now, and the Stealth Pivot continues continues the company's streak of great hardware. The buttons are clicky and responsive and the whole thing feels wonderful to hold. The design is nearly identical to Microsoft's own Xbox controllers, which is a good thing. The Stealth Pivot keeps many of the same pro features as its Stealth Ultra controller (and many other pro-level controllers), including adjustable triggers and four additional, remappable buttons. The Connected Command Display is carried over as well, although it's much smaller than the Ultra's 1.5" screen. Amazingly, it keeps all the same features , including being able to adjust buttons and social media notifications. On the connectivity side, you've got a wired connection for Xbox (there's no wireless support), a 2.4GHz dongle for PC and Bluetooth for mobile devices and compatible smart TVs. There's a headphone jack at the bottom and the USB-C port for charging or Xbox connection is up top. You can play and charge at the same time, which is a nice bonus. Two controllers for the price of one CNET / Jason Cockerham The biggest feature of the Stealth Pivot by far is its rotating gamepads. Basically, you twist down the two joysticks, unlock the gamepads, then literally rotate them 180 degrees to reveal the other set. This second set has a layout typical of controllers designed for fighting games, or really, any game where additional buttons are valuable. So instead of joysticks, there's a D-Pad on the top left flanked by two two buttons. On the right side, the ABXY cluster shifts downward to make room for two additional, mappable buttons. So now, instead of having to buy multiple controllers or remove and swap out gamepads (like PDP Victrix Pro controllers), in just a few seconds you can switch from snapping headshots in Call of Duty to beating up bad guys in Mortal Kombat or Tekken. It's certainly not something I've ever seen on any other controller and it works surprisingly well. You can even save up to five digital profiles on the controller so you can have different layouts for each game. CNET / Jason Cockerham I was impressed by just how good the buttons and everything are on the Stealth Pivot, even with having to cram double the amount of most everything into the same space. Granted, the controller is a bit thicker than most other controllers, but it's not that noticeable. The hardware and engineering that went into this controller is remarkable. What I don't like about the Stealth Pivot CNET / Jason Cockerham There are some compromises that come with this quick-switch capability, however. The first is that Turtle Beach wasn't able to include its microswitch buttons, which personally I prefer over the more standard buttons on the Pivot. The joysticks are still Hall Effect, which is nice, but the rest of the buttons are standard. The buttons aren't bad, they just aren't as good as on the company's other pro controller. Secondly, making room for those rotating gamepads means space had to come from somewhere and the most obvious place was the battery. Turtle Beach says the Pivot gets about 20 hours of battery life, which is probably a bit optimistic. I wouldn't say it's terrible, but it's not great. This is somewhat mitigated by the fact that you have to be physically plugged into your Xbox anyway, and you can play while charging -- but PC users may want to keep a cable handy. CNET / Jason Cockerham Also, while you can use the company's Control Center II app to customize the controller on Windows, Xbox, iOS and Android, the app itself is not very good. The UI is basic and there are some annoying bugs including the inability to rename profiles on the Xbox version. It's also hard to tell if anything saves after you make changes. There's no indicator or save button anywhere, and while it does save things in real-time, it would be nice if it let you know it's happening. Lastly, it's disappointing that you can't connect wirelessly to the Xbox. Wired is fine, and it avoids battery issues, but wireless is obviously more convenient. Should you buy the Stealth Pivot? The Stealth Pivot is a really solid controller even without the dual personalities. Personally, I'm not really into fighting games so I don't need the second set of controls. And super hard-core, e-sport-level gamers would probably want something like a Fight Stick or a more dedicated fighting game controller. However, if you're a more casual gamer who enjoys fighting/button heavy games alongside games that use joysticks -- and wants to level up your fighting style -- the Stealth Pivot might be worth a look, especially since it's only $130. That is more expensive than a standard controller, but for everything you get with it, that's a hard price to beat.

New Windows Security Bypass Alert For Chrome And Edge Users
Chrome and Edge browser Windows security bypass uncovered. It is no secret that Google's Chrome browser is beseiged by security vulnerabilities. The good news is that the vast majority of these vulnerabilities are discovered and disclosed by security researchers, including Google's own Threat Analysis Group, well before any attacker can exploit them. However, that's not always the case, as evidenced by numerous emergency browser security updates in response to confirmed zero-day vulnerabilities. What is less well known, especially amongst the large non-techie user base, is that Edge is built around the Chromium engine, so many of the same vulnerabilities impact it, and them. Given that another security issue has just emerged, and both Chrome and Edge users are at risk from it, in this case, a Windows security protection bypass, you might be asking if it is time to quit using both and find something else. Here's what you need to know. The FileFix Windows Security Issue Putting Chrome And Edge Users At Risk I first warned Forbes readers of the threat from something called a ClickFix attack in December 2024, and more recently reiterated that warning after Google issued a security alert in a new threat, called FileFix, has been discovered, and it's coming for your Chrome and Edge browsers if you are a Windows user. Penetration tester and security researcher, mr.d0x, first discovered FileFix on June 23, but has now published details of a new variation that is of concern to all Windows browser users. This new attack threat exploits the way that both Chrome and Edge deal with saving web pages, and can bypass the Microsoft Windows security feature known as Mark of the Web. It does this by bringing together those browser web page saving methods and something known as HTML Application execution. In other words, FileFix can now bypass the Windows MotW security function by exploiting the way in which browsers save HTML pages. The good news is that to pull off this latest FileFix exploit, an attacker would first need to persuade the victim into saving an HTML web page and then renaming it as an .HTA file in order to auto-execute the embedded JScript that does the actual damage. If that all sounds a little long-winded, that's because it is. However, don't be fooled, social engineering, or phishing if you prefer, can persuade normally sensible people into doing the most unlikely of things. The original ClickFix attacks, for example, asked users who were presented with a fake captcha test to open a Windows run dialog and enter commands to execute the exploit. That sounds unlikely, right? Yet enough people did just that for ClickFix to make the headlines and for the biggest of vendors to issue warnings to users. Is It Time For Windows Users To Abandon Chrome And Edge? The short answer to the question posed in the above sub-heading is: is it heck as like. For those of you not living in the Yorkshire countryside in England, that means no. The continuing deluge of vulnerabilities that impact Chrome and Edge and are disclosed month after month, sometimes week after week, is a good thing. How so? Because, for the most part, these vulnerabilities are being discovered before threat actors know about them, and browsers are updated to protect against them before they can attack. The odd few zero-days that emerge are dealt with as quickly as they can be. The point is, it's better the devil you know when it comes to security vulnerabilities. There are plenty of other reasons why you might want to change, those based around privacy concerns or dislike of certain vendors, but security vulnerability exposure isn't on my list. I have reached out to Google and Microsoft regarding the latest FileFix exploit affecting Windows users.
