Jensen Ackles: 'Supernatural' reunion for 'The Boys' was 'good time'
June 24 (UPI) -- Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles says reuniting with his former co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins for The Boys Season 5 was a "really good time."
The actor, 47, discussed the fifth and final season of The Boys when he stopped by The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday.
"So, Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural -- he is also the writer-showrunner of The Boys," Ackles told Fallon. "When he likes to work with somebody, he likes to continue working with them. And I was the benefactor of that, obviously. But then he thought, 'Oh, what a great idea. Let's just bring the cast back together.'"
Supernatural premiered on the WB in 2005 before moving to the CW for its sophomore season. The series ran for 15 seasons, through 2019. It starred Ackles and Padalecki as brothers Dean and Sam, respectively. Together, they faced various obstacles presented by paranormal entities. Collins also starred.
"It was funny because there was a little, like, concern that, you know, we're gonna get Jared and Misha and Jensen together, and it's gonna be a little wacky, because, 15 years together, we got a little off," he added. "...It was a really good time. I can't wait to be able to say more."
Ackles, Padalecki and Collins announced the casting in February.
Ackles portrays Ben, or Soldier Boy, on The Boys, which follows a team of vigilantes who take issue with dishonorable superheroes. The show is adapted from the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
Prime Video has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 5.

RW&CO Extended-Sleeve Denim Midi Dress $130 at RW&CO I'm obsessed with the heavier fabric of this cute denim number from RW&CO. The midi length combined with button-front and a tie-waist combines for a really flattering silhouette, and I'm loving the '90s Shania Twain vibes this frock is giving off. Pair it over a long-sleeve tee and with cute ankle boots in the fall, and you're off to the races. Levi's Ravina Midi Dress $100 at Levi's Levi's isn't the first place I think of when shopping for dresses, but I popped in on a whim and found this cute A-line one number. The smocking at the back made for a very comfortable fit, and the 100 per cent cotton fabric is sure to feel great on even the most humid of days. Also, the bra-friendly straps make it ideal for anyone who wants to wear some support underneath.

Russell T Davies Wants You to Stop Asking Him If ‘Doctor Who' Is Dead or Not
We can officially add Russell T Davies to the list of creative people who've become irritated with fans wanting updates on a particular project they're inextricably linked to. Think George R.R. Martin and The Winds of Winter, or James Gunn and The Batman Part II. Now, the Doctor Who showrunner from 2005-2010 and again since 2023 would like you to stop asking him Doctor Who questions. No doubt those queries have only gotten more intense thanks to the utter lack of updates about the show's future. Ncuti Gatwa's run as the character ended when the Fifteenth Doctor regenerated—confusingly—at the end of May, and fans still have no idea what's coming next, if at all. 'There's nothing to report, nothing's happening. You'll know when you know, when we know. I don't know,' Davies said on the Pilot TV podcast this week (via Doctor Who TV). He also pointed out, 'Conversations are between the BBC and Disney. I don't work for either of them. I work for Bad Wolf, so I'm not part of those rooms. So I literally don't know. And even people I work with every day, so they couldn't know what's really going on. I'm going, 'I don't know.' I really don't know.' In another recent interview, this time with the Big Issue magazine (via Deadline), he brought up the fact that even though he's devoted a lot of his career to Doctor Who, that's not all he's done. 'I love Doctor Who, but I don't own it. It's not mine. So in the end, my heart will always be with the things that I own,' including shows he created himself like Queer as Folk. The magazine did ask him about the future of Doctor Who, because frankly, people are dying to know. He gave a one-word answer: 'Behave!' 'What's Happening!!' star Danielle Spencer dies at 60
Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Former actor Danielle Spencer died Monday at age 60, CBS 6 in Richmond, Va., and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Spencer became a veterinarian in Los Angeles after graduating Tuskegee University in 1993. She practiced in Richmond since 2014 and played a veterinarian in the 1997 film As Good As It Gets. As a child actor, she played Dee on What's Happening!! From 1976 to 1979. She reprised the role in the '80s revival What's Happening Now! Her What's Happening!! co-star Haywood Nelson announced her death on Instagram and confirmed it to The Hollywood Reporter. "We celebrate Danielle Spencer and her contributions as we regret to inform her departure and transition from a long battle with cancer," Nelson wrote. "We have lost a daughter, sister, family member, 'What's Happening' cast member, veterinarian animal rights proponent and healer, and cancer heroine." Dr. Spencer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. She died at a Richmond hospital of cancer. Notable deaths of 2025 Astronaut Jim Lovell, commander of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission to the moon, died August 8, 2025, in Illinois, his family announced. He was 97.
