Michigan State football recruiting: DE Cory House the Spartans' 10th commit for 2026 class

Yahoo10-06-2025
Bolstering Joe Rossi's defense remains the early 2026 priority for Michigan State football's recent recruiting run.
The Spartans picked up a commitment Tuesday, June 10, from three-star high school prospect Cory House. The defensive end from Memphis, Tennessee, picked MSU over nearly 30 offers, including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland and other power-conference programs.
Whitehaven’s Cory House (5) puts his finger to his lips to quiet his sideline as referees decide whether it is Central or Whitehaven’s ball after a Central receiver possibly touched a Whitehaven punt that was recovered by a Whitehaven player during the game between Memphis Central High School and Whitehaven High School at the Whitehaven Classic in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Whitehaven defeated Central 40-13.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound House is rated as the nation's No. 77 edge rusher and No. 832 player overall according to 247Sports.com's composite rankings. He is the Spartans' 10th pledge for 2026 and sixth on the defensive side of the ball after MSU received commitments over the weekend from cornerback Kelsey 'KJ' Deriso, defensive lineman Christopher Knauls, Jr., and safety Eliyjah Caldwell-Henry.

House had 50 tackles, including 15 for a loss and five sacks, last season for Whitehaven High while forcing two fumbles and deflecting three passes according to the (Memphis) Commercial Appeal. He is the Spartans' first edge rush commit for 2026.

Brewers claim 10th straight game and become 1st team since 2019 with 2 double-digit win streaks

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers became the first MLB team since 2019 with multiple winning streaks of 10 or more games. However, any excitement over that particular accomplishment is tempered by the bigger picture. The Brewers extended their current win streak to 10 with a 7-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Earlier in the season, Milwaukee won 11 straight, and with the victory join the Houston Astros (2019 and 1969), Los Angeles Dodgers (2017), Toronto Blue Jays (2015), Atlanta Braves (2013), St. Louis Cardinals (2001), Pittsburgh Pirates (1978), Kansas City Royals (1977) and the New York Mets (1969) as the only teams to have two double-digit wins streaks since MLB expanded in 1969, according to 'Honestly, nobody cares about what we have done the past month,' Brewers slugger Christian Yelich said. 'It's all great, but we have bigger goals than winning 74 games or whatever it is. That's great, but that wasn't really our goal going into the season. We have bigger aspirations than that.' Yelich's home run snapped a 1-all tie and highlighted Milwaukee's four-run third inning. 'It's hard to win just one game in the major leagues,' Yelich said. 'We've done it just by being present, focusing on the current day and not thinking about previous days or what we have ahead of us. Staying present in the moment, talking about, figuring out what we have to do to win that night.' José Quintana (10-4), Milwaukee's winning pitcher, is enjoying the ride as the Brewers improved to 30 games over .500 at 74-44 and moved 6 1/2 games ahead of the idle Chicago Cubs (67-50) in the NL Central. 'It's been fun the way we've been playing, all the energy we have around,' Quintana said.

Former MSU LB, Notre Dame coach gives perfect 'football guy' media session quote

It's clear that former Michigan State star linebacker Max Bullough is the same fired up, standard "football guy" as he was during his playing days A former Michigan State star linebacker turned some heads on Monday during a preseason fall camp media session. Former Spartans star defender Max Bullough appears to be that same football-loving, stereotypical, tough "football guy" that we saw on the field during his playing days. Bullough now coaches linebackers at Notre Dame, and on Monday, he gave an inspired sound bite on preseason fall camp. Check out the clip of Bullough speaking to the media in the post below -- courtesy of Tyler Horka of Bullough was a fan favorite and star for the Spartans during some of hall of fame coach Mark Dantonio's teams. He was a team captain and starred for the Spartans during the 2013 Big Ten championship team that reached the program's first Rose Bowl in nearly 30 years. Bullough has quickly worked his way up the coaching ranks and it seems like he could very soon be a defensive coordinator and maybe one day a head coach. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him brought back to Michigan State at some point, especially, if he can bring back some of that Spartan Dawg defensive magic that we saw during his playing days.
