Guardian minister post just a small part, says Aditi Tatkare
Kolhapur: Women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare on Thursday downplayed the role of guardian minister, saying it was just one aspect, not the entirety. "I assure that Raigad and Nashik won't be deprived of funds and development works. The chief minister and both deputy CMs will decide on the guardian minister post, choosing an eligible person at the right time. The post is just one aspect, not the be-all and end-all," Tatkare said, while speaking in Kolhapur. Tatkare's statement is set against the backdrop of a dispute over the guardian minister posts for Raigad and Nashik, with Shiv Sena, led by deputy CM Eknath Shinde, staking a strong claim to both, while BJP is eyeing Nashik and NCP is focused on securing Raigad. This has led to a potential contest between Tatkare, who could get Raigad if NCP prevails, and minister Bharat Gogawale, who is vying for the post on behalf of Shiv Sena, fuelling a growing rivalry between them. Her father, NCP state president Sunil Tatkare, met deputy CM Eknath Shinde in New Delhi on Wednesday, but Aditi clarified that the issue of Raigad's guardian minister post wasn't discussed during the meeting. Discussions about appointing guardian ministers for both districts have gained momentum with Independence Day approaching, as guardian ministers typically unfurl the national flag as part of the celebrations, following protocol. Food and civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Thursday said he suggested that state NCP president Sunil Tatkare discussed the issue of appointment of guardian minister to Nashik, along with that of Raigad, with the deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde. "It is good if they discussed about Raigad (district guardian minister appointment). If Tatkare has really discussed Raigad with him (Eknath Shinde), I would suggest that he (Tatkare) should also discuss about Nashik," Bhujbal said while interacting with the media in Yeola. 'Money will be recovered from those ineligible for Ladki Bahin' WCD minister Aditi Tatkare on Thursday said Rs 1,500 payout for July under the Ladki Bahin Yojana would be deposited in the beneficiaries' accounts by Rakshabandhan (Saturday). "We have received data from the income tax department which will be scrutinised over the next 15 days to identify ineligible beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme, followed by action against such people, including men, who received the payout. The money will be recovered from such people," Tatkare said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Kids to hoist tricolour as BJP aims to counter PDA pathshala
Lucknow: In a strategic counter to Samajwadi Party's 'PDA pathshala', the BJP has asked its functionaries to get tricolour hoisted by children during the upcoming 'Tiranga Yatra' scheduled to be carried out by the party from Aug 10-15 as part of Independence Day celebrations . In a communique sent to all regional presidents, district in charges and district presidents, state BJP vice-president Manvendra Singh said that the party functionaries should try to get a tricolour hoisted in maximum possible households across the state. "Wherever possible, get it done by children," Singh said. BJP sources said that the party has tasked its functionaries to hoist at least 500 tricolours in each of the 1.6 lakh polling booths. The campaign will essentially be carried out with the help of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and Mahila Morcha of the BJP. UP BJYM state general secretary Varun Goyal affirmed that the campaign will be carried out even more aggressively in areas where the SP has attempted to set up 'PDA pathshalas' to "influence" the tender minds of children. "We will counter the opposition's casteist approach with a nationalist narrative," he said, asserting that the yuva morcha would reach out to the students in schools and colleges across the state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 100% Online, Flexible Learning BITS Pilani Digital Apply Now Undo The development comes days after a SP functionary Farhad Alam initiated a PDA pathshala in Saharanpur where children were taught lessons like 'A' for Akhilesh Yadav, 'B' for Babasaheb Ambedkar, 'C' for Chaudhary Charan Singh, 'D' for Dimple Yadav and 'M' for Mulayam Singh Yadav. The development stung the BJP with the party state president Bhupendra Chaudhary terming it a conspiracy to mix political poison in the tender consciousness of children. He termed it as an attempt of "Samajwadi brainwash". Analysts said that BJP's choice of children for hoisting the national flag was more of a symbolic retort to SP's PDA pathshala which sought to indoctrinate the children with the names of prominent party leaders besides Dalit and OBC figures. A political expert said that the BJP intended to depict the party as promoting "national pride" over caste identity. BJP's goal of unfurling 500 tricolours at each of the 1.6 lakh polling booths also reflected its trademark booth-level micro-management strategy. The move, analysts said, was less about symbolism and more about mass contact and visibility, which can bolster supporters' loyalty. Singh's letter also makes an open reference to the success of 'Operation Sindoor' which was carried out in May post the Apr 22 attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people, primarily tourists, were killed by terrorists. "This is a new, prosperous and powerful self-reliant India under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. Every proud Indian celebrated the success of Operation Sindoor with a tricolour in hand," he said. Singh also referred to Modi's description of the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament as one dedicated to the victory of Indian military which destroyed the terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) besides targeting Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen facilities. NCP seeks cancellation of draft of PCMC's development plan
Pune: Members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) carried out a protest march — from Shagun Chowk in Pimpri to the PCMC headquarters — on Thursday, voicing strong opposition to the draft of the development plan (DP) prepared by the civic body. They demanded that the draft, published online more than two-and-a-half months ago for public feedback, be cancelled as there were incorrect reservations in it and that would affect a large number of residents. PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) is soon likely to start conducting hearings on the suggestions and objections submitted by July 14, the deadline. One of the protesters was Pimpri MLA Anna Bansode, who is also the deputy speaker of the assembly. He said, "Nearly 50,000 suggestions and objections were received on this draft of the DP. However, we have demanded that it be cancelled as incorrect reservations were marked in it." However, after analysing it thoroughly, it appears that the whole draft must be cancelled as it is beyond corrections." The NCP members also highlighted alleged irregularities and discrepancies in the draft, accusing the corporation of exacerbating the city's long-standing issues rather than resolving them.
