Nazem Kadri's name keeps surfacing in connection with the Toronto Maple Leafs should the Calgary Flames eventually entertain a trade of their top-line center.

According to Elliotte Friedman, much of that chatter isn't just speculative — it's fictional, and "fake quotes" were attributed to him.
Speaking on Sunday's episode of the "32 Thoughts" podcast, Friedman forcefully denied a wave of fabricated quotes circulating online that wrongly tied him to the supposed availability of Kadri for trade.
'The one thing I do want to say is, I don't think I've ever been around something where there were more fake quotes attributed to me in the last week than Nazem Kadri,' Friedman said. 'I don't know what's going on with people out there."

Friedman explained he was surprised by the messages he received during the past few days, with people asking him about things he had supposedly said.
The insider revealed that he personally had to inform the teams about the fabricated nature of those quotes.
"People were sending me these quotes I'd said about Kadri," Friedman said. "I actually had to send them to the teams and say, 'Guys, I know you're gonna get calls about this — I didn't say this stuff.''

Friedman clarified that while teams have inquired about Kadri in the past, the Flames have shown no interest in moving him and certainly are not interested in trading him this summer.

'I just think with Kadri, the Flames have been asked about him before," Friedman said. "They have him for term. Unless he comes to them and says, 'I don't think it's working here. I want to go somewhere to compete ... or they absolutely get their socks blown off to the point they go to him and say, 'We want to do this,' I don't think that's happening. I don't think the Flames are really in a hurry to trade Nazem Kadri right now. Not after he had such a fantastic season for them.'
Kadri is coming off a 35-goal, 67-point season and remains under contract at $7 million per year through 2029.

If you don't have one, forget about a VPN. The same applies to TNT Sports and Kayo Sports. However, you can subscribe to the streaming platform if you're in three above-mentioned countries. Kayo Sports even offers a 7-day free trial for newcomers. Others don't, and are pretty expensive overall. If you watch UFC 319 abroad with the trick we explained, it costs at least $9.99. Blue Jays reinstate George Springer, option hot-hitting Joey Loperfido

TORONTO — One of baseball's best comeback stories can now continue. George Springer missed the Toronto Blue Jays' past 16 games after suffering a concussion when he was struck by a pitch before the trade deadline. He'd been among the team's best hitters this year and set a standard for the team's focus on small advantages and baserunning fundamentals. Now he's back. The Jays activated Springer ahead of Saturday's contest against the Texas Rangers, optioning outfielder Joey Loperfido to make room on the roster. Advertisement 'The last couple of days,' manager John Schneider said, 'he was really champing at the bit to get back here.' A year after posting the lowest WAR of his career and hitting .220, the 35-year-old Springer is in the midst of a career renaissance. He's hitting the ball harder, on average, than ever before and sits behind just Vladimir Guerrero Jr. among qualified Jays players in OPS (.893). Toronto went 9-7 in Springer's absence. They scored 45 runs across three games in Colorado, but averaged just 3.6 in the other 13 contests. Injecting Springer, who hit a homer in his final rehab contest on Friday, back into the lineup should boost the team's offensive potential. He's moving back to the leadoff spot for his first game back, though Schneider said the lineup will remain fluid moving forward. 'He's just a guy who's really good at playing baseball and really good at hitting,' hitting coach David Popkins said. 'And a smart hitter. He's one of a kind. He's one of the best outfield hitters ever.' The Jays missed Springer on the basepaths and in the clubhouse as well, Schneider said. They've dipped back into the league's bottom third in team baserunning in recent weeks. They are also the worst fielding team in baseball since his injury, per Statcast. Springer grades out as one of the team's top baserunners this year. He may not directly help Toronto's fielding, often playing as the team's designated hitter, but he's long been a loud voice in Toronto's clubhouse. It's even easier to lead and motivate others when you're posting numbers, Schneider said. 'George is a big part of it,' Schneider said. 'Both on the bases and at the plate. So trying to just kind of clean those things up.' The Jays faced a difficult decision upon Springer's return, with no obvious candidate for demotion. Loperfido was ultimately optioned back to Triple A, despite hitting .358 in 30 big-league contests. Schneider called the demotion 'undeserved.' It's unlikely the end of Loperfido's major-league season, though, as he could return as an injury replacement soon or join the team again in September, when rosters expand. 'I can't guarantee that he's coming back in September,' Schneider said. 'But I think it's a pretty strong likelihood if everything stays status quo.' Spot the pattern. Jets Goaltender Eric Comrie Invited to Compete at PGA America Manitoba Open

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Eric Comrie has earned a sponsor's exemption for the 2025 running of the Manitoba Open, set to be held at Breezy Bend Country Club from August 21-24. The Manitoba Open is an official PGA Tour Americas Fortinent Cup event and will host Comrie as an amateur alongside the field of professionals in the four-day event. It will mark the tournament's first running at Breezy Bend since 1993. A number of Jets players have suited up in the tournament over the past few years, with the Manitoba Open offering a sponsor's exemption to Mark Scheifele in 2018 and 2022, Kyle Connor in 2019, Morgan Barron in 2023 and Dylan Samberg in 2025. Comrie, a product of Edmonton, has spent the bulk of his career in Winnipeg, split between the AHL's Manitoba Moose and the Jets. He currently has a membership at the Shady Canyon Club in Irvine, California. 'I'm very excited to play in this year's Manitoba Open. Golf has become such a passion of mine in recent years and the opportunity to play with professionals who are on the verge of becoming tomorrow's stars is a special opportunity,' Comrie said. 'I'm really looking forward to the challenge of competing in such an important event to the community of Winnipeg and Manitoba. I'd also like to thank the tournament organizers and host committee, along with Breezy Bend, for the invitation.' A 2013 draft pick, Comrie is entering his 10th season in the league and owns a 33-36-3 record over 77 games. He has four shutouts, a 2.39 goals against average and a .898 save percentage to his name. Comrie's busy summer continues, after serving as the Jets' spokesman at the 2025 NHL Draft and travelling to Michigan to surprise Connor Hellebuyck with the Hart and Vezina Trophies. True North Youth Foundation's Project 11 is the main charitable recipient for the annual PGA Americas event. Since 2010, the Manitoba Open has raised nearly $1 million dollars - one third of which has gone to TNYF.
