Texas point guard Rori Harmon to return next season in bid to get Longhorns back to the Final Four
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas point guard Rori Harmon announced Wednesday she will return for a fifth season in bid to get the Longhorns back to the Final Four.
Harmon has a medical redshirt season to use after a knee injury knocked her out of the 2023-24 season after just 12 games. Texas advanced to the Elite Eight that season. Texas made the Final Four this season for the first time since 2003.
Harmon announced her decision in a post on the team's social media accounts.
'Let's finish what we started. Hook'em,' said Harmon, who averaged 9.3 points and 5.9 assists last season. She also was considered the team's top defender.
Texas lost to Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina in a national semifinal.
Harmon's return means the Longhorns will have three full-time starters back for next season, and will again pair her with All-American Madison Booker in the Texas backcourt.
The Longhorns rose to their first No. 1 ranking 2004 this past season and made it to the Final Four for the first time since 2003. Texas won a share of the SEC title in its first season in the league.
Harmon is a graduate student and is pursing a master's degree.

Finally, Texas has broken through. Mia Scott hit a grand slam, Teagan Kavan won again, and Texas defeated Texas Tech 10-4 in Game 3 of the Women's College World Series championship series on Friday night to claim its first national title. Leighann Goode hit a 3-run homer, Kayden Henry had three hits and Scott, Reese Atwood and Katie Stewart each had two hits for Texas (56-12). Texas Tech star pitcher NiJaree Canady, who had thrown every pitch for the Red Raiders through their first five World Series games, was pulled after one inning in Game 3. The two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Year gave up five runs on five hits and only threw 25 pitches. The loss came after she signed an NIL deal worth more than $1 million for the second straight year. Hailey Toney was a bright spot for the Red Raiders. She singled to knock in two runs in the fifth, then singled to knock in another run in the seventh. It was a surprise run for the Red Raiders. Glasco left Louisiana to coach at Texas Tech this season. The team only had three returning players and had to mix a group of newcomers together. They won the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles and reached the World Series for the first time. "To end up in this position, playing for the national title, making it go all the way to three games -- just a historic season, and I'm really proud of my team and the effort that they give us from top to bottom," Glasco said.

South Carolina baseball losing star shortstop to transfer portal
South Carolina baseball lost its 15th player to the transfer portal on Friday morning. Gamecocks shortstop Henry Kaczmar has entered the transfer portal, The State has confirmed. The news was first reported by On3's Pete Nakos, who said that Kaczmar had entered with a 'do not contact' tag. While it's not always be the case, such a tag generally indicates a player already has their next destination in mind. Advertisement Kaczmar was a bright spot in an otherwise forgettable season for the Gamecocks, who finished 28-29 and 6-24 in the SEC under first-year coach Paul Mainieri During his lone year at South Carolina, he started in all 53 games that he played and recorded a .315 batting average (third best on the team) along with seven doubles, three triples, six home runs and 28 RBIs. He also slugged .486 and had a .394 on-base percentage. Kaczmar led the team with a .333 batting average in SEC games. Prior to his time in Columbia, Kaczmar, an Ohio native, spent two years at Ohio State. He was a Big Ten All-Freshman Team member in 2023 and earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors in his sophomore season (2024).
