Farmers fall victim to cyber fraud through APK files: CI Jayanna issues warning

Hans Indiaa day ago
Pattikonda (Kurnool): Cybercriminals have launched a new wave of fraud by luring citizens—particularly farmers—into downloading malicious 'APK files' (Android Application Package files). Pattikonda Circle Inspector (CI) Jayanna cautioned that unsuspecting farmers are being cheated through fake links disguised as government schemes, refund updates, and agricultural benefits. Once these files are installed, fraudsters gain full control over the victims' mobile phones, leading to severe financial losses.
According to Jayanna, fraudsters are targeting farmers by circulating attractive messages through WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram. Many of these links appear in the name of PM Kisan benefits, urgent document verifications, delivery updates, and digital KYC requests. Believing them to be genuine, some farmers unknowingly download APK files. The malicious apps then seek multiple permissions such as access to SMS, contacts, call logs, storage, and notifications. Granting these allows cybercriminals to steal personal data, bank details, and even OTPs linked to financial transactions.
CI Jayanna warned that in several cases, hackers have misused this access to withdraw money from bank accounts and misuse private information. Farmers, online shoppers, the elderly, and students are increasingly becoming soft targets due to limited awareness of such scams. In certain instances, criminals have even accessed phone cameras and microphones to collect private visuals for blackmail.
The police appealed to farmers and the public not to download apps from unknown links or share OTPs with strangers. Only applications from the official Play Store should be trusted. Any suspicious apps must be uninstalled immediately. Victims of cyber fraud are advised to dial the cybercrime helpline 1930 or lodge complaints at the nearest police station. CI Jayanna underlined that in today's digital age, 'Alertness is the only shield against cyber theft.'

Blueface's Girlfriend Angela Shifts To Rapper's House, His Mother Defends The Decision

Last Updated: Rapper Blueface, serving a four-year sentence, is in the spotlight as his girlfriend Angela moves into his home, sparking internet backlash. Rapper Blueface might be behind bars, but he is still making the headlines. The 28-year-old is currently serving a four-year sentence for probation violations. In 2022, the Bleed It singer accepted a plea deal in Nevada following a shooting incident at a nightclub. He pleaded guilty to battery and firearm charges. This time, Blueface is in the spotlight for his personal life. His girlfriend, Angela has moved into his home while the rapper is in prison. Blueface's father, however, resides in the same residence. A few days ago, Angela shared a set of pictures on Instagram, posing in various rooms at Blueface's house. Her post confirmed that she had indeed shifted to the rapper's residence. The first image captured Angela sitting on a staircase with framed photographs of Blueface's iconic songs — Thotiana (2018) and Daddy (2019) put up on the wall behind her. Next, she appeared to be sitting inside Blueface's studio. The album ended with a snap of Angela kissing an animated poster of the rapper. 'We go together real bad," read her caption. Internet Slams Angela For Moving In At Blueface's House The carousel invited significant backlash from the internet. 'You flexin online like you just won a crown, But you livin in a crib that been passed around, No self-worth, girl, you traded dignity for keys, Taking all the leftovers and calling it a feast," read a sarcastic remark, referring to Blueface's past relationships with Chrisean Rock and Jaidyn Alexis. 'He's moving them in & out," wrote another. 'I'm sorry, but this isn't a flex," commented one person harshly. Both Chrisean Rock and Jaidyn Alexis share a child with Blueface. Blueface's Mother Defends Rapper's Girlfriend Amid the controversy, Blueface's mother, Karlissa Saffold Harvey, has supported Angela. She uploaded an elaborate post on Facebook that read, 'I'm so confused at how y'all all so bitter that John [Blueface] has chosen to go another route when both his exes have moved on and decided way before he did. Some of y'all really need to check yourself because they moved on while he was unable to… You know well, ain't no man doing two years to get out to be with anyone that moved on. Now stop that s**t and congratulate him for not being bitter." Blueface is known for songs like Holy Moly, Outside, Dead Locs, West Coast and Disrespectful, to name a few. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
