Once an Animal Control Officer (ACO) arrived, they determined that the fawn was only a few days old. The fawn's mother was spotted nearby, but was separated by a six-foot fence that the fawn could not cross. The officer was concerned that human contact might cause the mother to reject the fawn; however, the ACO told the officer that this is a common myth. The officer carefully used a blanket to pick up the fawn and reunite it with its mother. This year's theme, 'Believe in the Power of CommUNITY,' was inspired by the superintendent of Springfield Public Schools. 'It's believing in our students and the capabilities that they have, believing in our families, believing in our community,' said Assistant Superintendent Jose Escribano. 'And just the opportunity when all of us come together, we can accomplish great things. But we just have to believe that we can all come together to do that.' Every family also got the chance to complete exit surveys to give feedback about the event and the district. Those surveys led to raffle prizes like PlayStations and grills.
