Serial killer, who fed victims to crocs, held after jumping parole at ashram in Rajasthan
NEW DELHI: Ayurveda practitioner-turned-serial killer – the infamous Doctor Death, who fed his victims to crocodiles – was arrested by Delhi Police after he jumped parole last year, a senior official said.The absconder was posing as a priest under a false identity at an ashram in Rajasthan's Dausa when he was arrested on Monday, he added.
67-year-old Devender Sharma was convicted in multiple murder cases. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in seven separate cases across Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana, and a Gurgaon court even awarded him capital punishment.
DCP (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam said Sharma had been serving life sentence in Tihar Jail for the brutal killings of several taxi and truck drivers between 2002 and 2004, when he jumped parole in August 2023.

4 offenders exiled under Goonda Act
Jaipur: Four persons with a history of criminal activity were shunted out of Jaipur under provisions of the Rajasthan Goonda Act. The order, issued by DCP (North) Rashi Dogra Dudi, is part of an ongoing campaign to curb habitual offenders and reduce fear and intimidation in public spaces. Police said the four accused were directed to stay outside Jaipur district limits for a month. They were relocated to designated areas in Dausa district, where they must regularly report to the police station. Entry into any part of Jaipur district during the exile period is strictly prohibited without prior permission from the authorities. The action follows surveillance and profiling of repeat offenders who, police say, were involved in activities that create an atmosphere of fear in localities. "The objective is to disrupt their routine network and prevent further criminal incidents in the district," a police official said. The four accused were identified as Aslam Khan (50), a resident of Sharda Colony, under Jaisinghpura Khor police station; Chhotu Ram (44), a resident of Dhaba Ka Nala, Chimanpura, under Amber police station; Shahabuddin (38), a resident of Imam Chowk, Bas Badanpura, under Galta Gate police station; and Abid Hussain (48), a resident of Balaji Ki Kothi Ka Rasta, under Ramganj police station area. Most of these criminals are habitual offenders, police said.

8 men, part of interstate gang, held in Noida,for gambling
Noida: Eight persons, allegedly part of an interstate online cricket betting racket, were arrested from Futech Gateway in Sector 75 on Wednesday. DCP (Noida) Yamuna Prasad said while the gang had links in Kerala, Gujarat, and Telangana, currently, they were operating out of Delhi-NCR and had intensified their activities during Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches. "The suspects would ask people to place bets through a website by offering high returns. They would promote the website on Facebook and other social media sites and send online pop-ups too. Once a person clicked on these pop-ups, they would be prompted to place bets on cricket matches," the DCP said. The accused would share OTPs for initiating bets between Rs 500 and Rs 50,000 and cheat users once they made the initial payment. "We are trying to find the total amount of money they have made using this modus operandi," the DCP said. Cops have recovered 12 mobile phones, four laptops, one tablet, 28 ATM cards, bank passbooks, cheque books, 25 mobile SIMs and a Wi-Fi router from the suspects. The men, aged between 20 and 31, are originally from Bihar, Rajasthan and other districts of UP, and were living in the city for over a year.

Man arrested in Himachal with 10kg of marijuana
Noida: Days after his five gang members were arrested, a wanted drug smuggler was nabbed in Himachal Pradesh by a police team from Noida. The arrest took place on Wednesday, when the police also seized 10kg of marijuana, worth Rs 8 lakh, and a Verna. After his accomplices had been arrested recently, Milan Suman alias Rax alias Chintu, a resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, fled to Himachal Pradesh, police said. "Police have also recovered his chats with the five jailed associates," deputy commissioner of police (central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said. "Milan Suman was wanted in a case registered under the NDPS Act and was arrested in a joint operation by Phase 2 police and CRT officials," Avasthy said. The arrested gang members — Azim, Bunty Kumar, Suraj Rao, Shamim and Chandan Rao — would import OG, Mango and Shillong ganja from Thailand and Shillong and sell it to university and college students in Noida, making deliveries through bikes. About 26.5kg of marijuana worth Rs 50 lakh was recovered from their possession a few days ago, the DCP said, adding, Phase 2 and CRT police arrested the five ganja smugglers following a tip-off. After the arrests, Suman allegedly ordered about 10kg of OG separately and hid it inside a closed factory located in the Phase 2 area. Another case was registered in this regard. The officer said, "He then went to Himachal Pradesh and planned to return after some time to recruit new people." Suman is believed to have become active in the illegal drug business after 2020.
