AAIB 'totally unbiased', says Aviation minister on Air India crash probe
Speaking in Rajya Sabha on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Naidu said the government wants to find out what exactly happened in the Air India plane crash, in which over 260 people were killed. The minister added that the exact cause will be known only after AAIB's final probe report is out.
"AAIB was successful in decoding data from black boxes of Air India plane that crashed last month," he said.
What did the AAIB report say?
The AAIB's initial report into the June 12 crash of Air India Flight 171 – a Boeing 787-8 departing from Ahmedabad – revealed that both engine fuel control switches were manually moved to the 'CUTOFF' position seconds after takeoff, leading to a total loss of thrust. This happened despite no mechanical faults detected in the aircraft or engines, the report said.
Cockpit voice recordings, mentioned in the report, captured one pilot asking the other why the switches had been turned off, and no technical abnormalities (fuel, weight, or avionics) were found. While engineers briefly restored one engine, it was too late to prevent the crash into a hostel building.

Turn Amaravati into city with largest lung space, Andhra CM urges officials
Agency: PTI Amaravati, Jul 31 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed officials to turn the greenfield capital Amaravati into a city with the largest lung space. The Chief Minister directed officials to implement a green action plan under the concept 'Amaravati in Nature'. 'Turn capital Amaravati into a city with the largest lung space with Amaravati in Nature concept," said Naidu in the press release. Naidu reviewed Amaravati beautification and green – blue master plan today at the secretariat. He directed officials to ensure that the trunk roads, connected roads, roads built near layouts, green zones, buffer zones, traffic intersections and others are all appealing to the eye. Likewise, he instructed officials to carry out avenue plantations along the roads, including constructing worldclass parks in the greenfield capital city. Similarly, the CM instructed officials to sow medicinal plants in Amaravati, along with indigenous trees in the green belt and buffer zones, and turn the riverfront into an exciting place. According to Naidu, Amaravti should become a place which will give rise to different coloured flowers in different seasons. As part of beautifying Amaravati, he instructed officials to study places like Bengaluru and Singapore and advised them to name different parks after various countries and also grow flowering plants from those countries, among other guidelines. CM tells officials to develop Amaravati into a blue-green city
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to develop Amaravati as a blue-green city that has the State's largest lung space, by enhancing greenery around the trunk roads, the connecting roads and the roads in the LPS layouts, buffer and green zones, and main junctions. Taking stock of the implementation of the Amaravati Beautification and Blue-Green Master Plan at a review meeting at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Thursday, Mr. Naidu told the officials concerned to take up avenue plantations along all roads in the emerging capital city and emphasised the need to develop parks and green spaces to international standards, with priority to raising medicinal plants in order to transform the capital region into a biodiversity hub containing native tree species. Riverfront He called for steps to make the Krishna riverfront a major tourist attraction and directed the officials of Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) to grow fruit and flowering plants on a large scale. The manner in which Bengaluru, and Singapore were made garden cities should be studied to replicate some of the models in Amaravati, he suggested. Housing projects Mr. Naidu said the officials should take the advice of yoga guru Baba Ramdev for cultivating medicinal plants, and to fetch native tree species from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari. He said Amaravati should have high-quality, accessible housing projects on the lines of Singapore's Bidadari Housing Project (spread over about 250 acres, and home to 10,000 people) which was known for its pristine environs. The Kondaveetivagu and Palavagu and their surrounding areas should also be shaped into major attractions. The ADC officials told the Chief Minister that the Shakhamuru Reservoir was being developed on 50 acres, and highlighted plans to develop six islands upstream of the Prakasam Barrage.

Chief Minister Chandrababu (Naidu) will launch Annadatha Sukhibhava at Darsi, Prakasam district," said an official release on Thursday, adding that Naidu held a review meeting on this scheme. The central government will release funds under the PM-Kisan scheme on August 2. Clubbing the Centre's contribution of Rs 6,000 under PM-Kisan and the state's contribution of Rs 14,000, the southern state aims to disburse Rs 20,000 per annum to eligible farmers under 'Annadatha Sukhibhava'-PM Kisan scheme in three installments. The first installment encompasses Rs 5,000 by the state government and Rs 2,000 by the Centre, the release many as 47 lakh farmers are expected to benefit under this scheme. The NDA government has allocated Rs 2,343 crore for the first installment while the Centre will deposit Rs 831 crore, the release added.
