Tiktok hack to get free flight upgrade: does it really work?
"Hand the flight attendants the gifts, with added charisma, as you board, and wait for the magic of a free upgrade to happen."
On the post, he's not given an upgrade as such, but his seat is switched to an empty row and he receives free snacks and Champagne, presumably worth more than the value of the snacks.
Viewers seem impressed, with one comment saying: "as ex-cabin crew I can confirm this works".
But do these Tiktok free upgrade hacks actually work?
Amanda Parker at Netflights says: 'The travel hack of buying flight attendants a gift, and sweet-talking them when boarding the plane has gone viral. Kindness will always be appreciated by airline staff, so small gestures like snacks or gifts won't go unnoticed.
"However, the chances of receiving a complimentary upgrade just by handing over a box of chocolates might be slim.
"Free upgrades are usually determined by strict criteria, including frequent flyer status, ticket class, availability, and airline policies, unfortunately, not by last-minute sweet talk as you board the plane.
"The gift and sweet-talk hack may work, so it's worth a try; but, we warn you not to get your hopes up, as these moments are the exception, not the rule. You may just strike lucky if your flight attendant likes chocolate M&Ms."

3 ways to get a free flight upgrade or (free perks when flying)
1. Join loyalty programmes
Passengers are most likely to bag a free upgrade by taking advantage of frequent flyer initiatives. Airlines reward loyal and frequent customers, so take advantage of these deals. Even if you don't fly frequently, some credit cards allow you to earn points that count towards upgrades. Over time, this can significantly boost your chances of an upgrade.
2. Travel in off-peak periods
You can increase your chances of upgrades and free perks when traveling in off-peak hours and days. Flights are quieter, so they tend to have more empty seats in Premium cabins, which can increase your chances of being upgraded. It's advised to avoid flying in school holidays and Friday evenings or weekends. Midweek flights at midday are typically quieter flights!
3. Be polite and have good manners
Good manners won't guarantee an upgrade, but they never hurt anyone. Always treat flight staff with respect, regardless of whether you want a free upgrade or not. Being kind can make you stand out, so a small gift like chocolates might be remembered, but even if it doesn't come with a seat upgrade, it's a gesture your flight attendant will appreciate.

Ibiza holidaymaker share warning after staying at popular adults-only hotel
Hotels are usually the most common choice of accommodation for tourists and a woman who stayed at The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel shared one thing that guests might not realise Summer is the time of year when many people head off on holiday or attend music festivals. A popular adult hotspot is Ibiza, renowned for its vibrant nightlife, major clubs and DJs, as well as sandy beaches with crystal clear waters. The island, in Spain, has a lively party scene, attracting celebrities and music-lovers. There is a wide range of accommodation in Ibiza to suit different tastes and budgets, including luxury hotels, budget hotels and villas. Louise, a Londoner with a passion for finding quirky experiences, stayed at The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel, which has a five-star rating and is known for offering luxury and VIP services and giving guests full access to the famous Ushuaïa club with their booking. After checking into the hotel, Louise shared a video on TikTok giving viewers a tour of her room. When she went in she was happy to see that her suitcase had already been brought up for her and she spotted some treats on the bed, explaining that she was visiting Ibiza to go to Gordon Ramsay's new Hell's Kitchen restaurant, which opened at The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel. The travel fan then spotted a minibar with a few bottles of alcohol but after thinking about how much they would cost she said she would 'not be touching' them. Next, Louise checked out the 'massive' balcony with a beautiful beach view before finding some 'nice' dressing gowns in the wardrobe. She moved onto the bathroom and showed what was inside, saying: 'Okay, this is our bathroom. Clarins products, [I] like that. Sink, toilet, it's all very sexy, very dark.' The holidaygoer then shared something that might trip up some guests: 'Okay, they have got a lot of things in this hotel that look like they're complimentary amenities that actually aren't, you have to pay for them. Louise added: 'They put things around the room and you can open it if you want to and use it but then you've got to pay for it, [I] don't know how I feel about that.' Continuing to explore the room, she spotted a box of 'premium' adult toys next to the bed that she thought was 'hilarious' and joked that she wouldn't be needing them. The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel is for adults only so all guests must be at least 18-years-old to be able to stay there. It is located in Playa d'en Bossa that is considered to be the most popular resort on Ibiza, boasting the longest beach on the island, and it is the home of the Ushuaïa and Hi Ibiza clubs. Guests staying at the luxury hotel can indulge in fine dining, with options like caviar and champagne and a rooftop bar with signature cocktails. Louise's TikTok video has garnered more than 7,000 views and a number of comments. One viewer admitted that they would have thought the Clarins products were a freebie as they commented: 'Oh God my dumb a$$$ would fall for the Clarins bag as a freebie and brought it home for my mum and cry about it later.'

Parents ‘abandoned son, 10, at Barcelona Airport after his passport had expired so they wouldn't miss flight'
The couple's bizarre plan went awry after the airport staff found the young boy on his own and alerted cops LEFT ALONE Parents 'abandoned son, 10, at Barcelona Airport after his passport had expired so they wouldn't miss flight' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A COUPLE abandoned their 10-year-old son at Barcelona Airport after his passport had expired so they wouldn't miss the flight, a worker at the terminal said. The couple jetted off from Barcelona's El Prat international airport on Wednesday without their child, organising a relative to pick him up just so they wouldn't miss their flight. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 The alleged incident unfolded at Barcelona-El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Spain Credit: Alamy 3 An air traffic coordinator at the airport made a TikTok video about the alleged incident Credit: Tiktok An air traffic coordinator at the airport made a TikTok video about the alleged incident, slamming the young boy's parents. She claims the child was forbidden from flying as his passport had expired and he also required a visa. His parents then decided, instead of missing the flight, to get a relative to pick their son up so they could continue their onward journey. But the couple's bizarre plan went awry after the airport staff found the young boy on his own and alerted cops, the air traffic coordinator claimed. She said in her video that has accumulated over 300,000 views: "He told them that his parents were on the plane on their way to their home country, going on vacation." The couple were then found and taken to the airport's police station where their son had been brought to. It is unclear whether they were arrested. The TikToker said: "I'm an air traffic controller, and as a controller, I've seen a lot of things, but this has been completely surreal. "I'm amazed to think how parents could possibly leave their ten-year-old son at the terminal because he can't travel due to documentation issues. "They call a relative, who might take half an hour, an hour, or three hours, and they calmly board the flight and leave the child behind." Shock footage shows passenger slap woman for refusing to give up seat at airport sparking mass brawl She added that she was "amazed" being a mother herself. The claims made by the air traffic coordinator currently remain unconfirmed. It comes after a mum allegedly abandoned her newborn baby to die in an airport toilet before attempting to board a flight home, a Turkish court heard. Russian tourist Ekaterina Burnazkina, 29, was accused of giving birth in a disabled toilet at Turkey's Antalya Airport before leaving the minutes-old infant and heading for passport control. Prosecutors told Turkey's High Criminal Court that the baby was found jammed in freezing water with her feet submerged. She only survived because a cleaner discovered her 12 minutes later and raised the alarm. Security footage shows Burnazkina entering the lavatory alone and later rejoining her family. She and her mother were later stopped at passport control and arrested last October.

Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday: Celebs hopping on TikTok trend and jets
The discount airfare line has recently found itself the subject of virality, as users post their vacation and life mishaps online to the soundtrack of a 2024 ad promoting the company's discounted flights. "Nothing beats a Jet2 Holiday," the ad promises as British singer Jess Glynne's 2015 song "Hold My Hand" blasts in the background. Even celebrities have been eager to hop on the trend, with stars like Mariah Carey and Jeff Goldblum parodying the ad. Social media users are proving why nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. What's that? Goldblum, known for his own TV ad campaigns, joined in the fun, posting a TikTok with a remixed voice-over, swapping "Jet2" for "Jeff2." Fans were delighted, with one commenting: "If Jeff Goldblum isn't greeting me at the gate in sunglasses and a silk shirt, is it even a Jeff2 holiday?" Carey, on the other hand, used the trend to announce her performance at Brighton Pride in the United Kingdom, posting a TikTok of her boarding a plane to the viral sound accompanied by the caption "Nothing beats going to Brighton Pride!!" Jet2, no doubt happily basking in the unexpected free press, commented below Carey's post: "We belong together." That the "Obsessed" singer was boarding a private jet in her video butts up against the ethos of the trend, which has connected social media users worldwide about everything from budget airfare to hilarious travel plans gone wrong. The ad's song has even been remixed by some on the internet, with a soca version dominating recent videos and a New Orleans bounce remix as the background to multiple dance videos. Singer slams Trump administration for using her song to promote deportations Glynn also spoke out earlier this week about another group clearly not in on the joke: the Trump administration. When the White House's official Instagram shared a post on July 30 celebrating the Trump admin's mass deportation efforts to the tune of "Hold My Hand," Glynn was quick to shoot them down. The video, which showed people being escorted out of a van and marched onto a plane with their hands and ankles handcuffed, was accompanied by the caption: "When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. ?? Nothing beats it!" Though federal agents' faces are blurred, the detainees' faces are not. In response, Glynn wrote in an Instagram story: "This post honestly makes me sick. My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity - never about division or hate."
