Is Joe Goldberg a sociopath or a psychopath?
As per Healthline, the word 'psychopathy' is not a widely accepted clinical term or diagnosis. People commonly use it to refer to antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). According to the Mayo Clinic, ASPD, 'sometimes called sociopathy, is a mental health condition in which a person consistently shows no regard for right and wrong and ignores the rights and feelings of others.'
Live Events
People with antisocial personality disorder often make others angry or upset on purpose, manipulate individuals around them, or treat them with indifference. They lack remorse and often violate the law, becoming criminals.
Joe often breaks the law and ignores the feelings of the person he is obsessed with. He often has no remorse for his deeds, such as when he killed Benji, Guinvere's boyfriend in season 1. However, the character cannot be diagnosed in a clean-cut manner. Incidents over the course of the show depict Joe being devastated after his landlady's death or his refusal to kill Forty because of his importance to Joe's partner Love. This suggests that the character does have some sense of empathy. So, Joe Goldberg is a complicated character that cannot fit in easily within one diagnosis.
Kelly Scott, a therapist at Tribeca Therapy in Manhattan, told Business Insider in an interview that Joe could have attachment disorder due to childhood trauma. "Joe would be a good example of misdiagnosis," Scott said, adding "If he was my patient in season 1, sure, he could be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, but upon further excavation, his behavior reveals itself as a trauma symptom versus antisocial personality disorder."
Joe Goldberg in You
The character initially starts his journey at a bookstore in New York. When he becomes obsessed with one of the patrons, Guinvere, he starts to manipulate events to appear in her life. This leads to a chain of events where Joe kills, lies and stalks those close to Guinvere to cement his position as her boyfriend. Over the seasons, Joe becomes attracted to different women, but his obsessive and violent tendencies are a big hurdle in his happily ever after with any of them.
About You season 5
The series is set to air on Netflix from Friday, April 25. Fans have already started speculating about how Joe Goldberg's story will end. Many believe that he would either die or go to prison for his misdeeds. The fifth season of You stars Penn Badgley, Charlotte Ritchie, Griffin Matthews, Madeline Brewers and Anna Camp in pivotal roles.

Remember Ramanand Sagar Ramayan's 'Surpanakha'? The actress was paid Rs 30000 to cut off her nose, quit acting to work as..., her name is... Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, originally telecasted from January 1987 to July 1988, is considered the most-watched Indian television show even three decades after it ended. The show featured largely new or unknown characters in the lead roles such as Dipika Chikhlia, Sunil Lahri, and Arvind Trivedi, that later became household names following the show's success. Renu Dhariwal, who portrayed Ravana's sister Surpanakha, one of the most popular characters in Ramayana, also rose to fame. Even though, she starred in just four out of 78 episodes, she still captivated audiences with her performance in the mythological serial. The actress once shared the back story regarding how she got the role of Shurpanakha in Ramayan. In an earlier interaction with Indian Express, Renu recalled, 'I come from a conservative Punjabi family, the kind that would never allow their daughters to enter showbiz. But I wanted to be an actor, a decision my Bengali mother supported. Without telling my father the real reason for moving to Bombay, I came here and joined Roshan Taneja's acting classes, where Govinda was my classmate. After that, I started to work in theatre. That's where Papaji (Ramanand Sagar) saw me.' She further added, 'He saw me play a mother in a play called Purush. When he realised I was a young girl, he was impressed and asked me to audition for Surpanakha's role. Surpanakha is the sister of a powerful warrior and scholar, Raavan. She is a princess and a shapeshifter, and the one who becomes the trigger for the most famous battle in Hindu mythology. I didn't see any reason to let go of the opportunity.' Renu was paid Rs 30000 for her portrayal of Surpanakha in Ramayan. Morever, she also received several work opportunities following the show's success. During the same interaction, she recalled, 'It got me roles in BR Chopra's teleseries Chunni, Surinder Singh's National Award-winning Punjabi film Marhi da Deewa and also Hema Malini's directorial debut Dil Aashna Hai, before I gave it all up for a career in politics.' Renu Dhariwal gave up her acting career after marriage, and now currently lives in Mumbai with her husband and a son. After taking a step back from films, she ventured into politics, and now works actively for Congress Party. Moreover, she also helps her husband in his real estate business. Besides this, she also operates two NGOs for women and child care.

Man breaks down after London's ‘hottest curry', Indian restaurant owner steps in to help him

A man attempting a London restaurant's 'hottest curry challenge' was left sweating and overwhelmed until the owner of the Indian restaurant stepped in to comfort him. The incident was caught on camera and has gone viral. In the video, the man is seen coughing and sweating while kneeling on the road. The owner, Raj, stands beside him with a bottle in his hand. Throughout the video, the owner comforts the man who landed in distress after having a dish at the restaurant made with 72 varieties of chilli. 'Aftermath of the #Londonshottestcurry,' Bengal Village, a restaurant on Brick Lane specialising in Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, captioned the video. According to a report by the Standard, the paste used in the 'hottest curry' is made using 72 varieties of chilli from around the world. The chefs apparently wear gloves while preparing the dish, which reportedly includes Carolina reaper, scotch bonnet, various forms of naga and birds' eye, and snake chilli, among others. The 72 types of chilli are ground into a powder. The powder is then cooked using other spices, including fenugreek, mustard seed, and cumin. In addition to the spices and the chilli paste, ingredients like onion, garlic, and ghee are also added to the chicken curry. The end result is a thick, dark red dish that often leaves the diners sweating and in tears. In the various videos shared on social media, the dish is seen being served by the owner while wearing a gas mask. The result of the diners trying the dish is almost always the same—immediate distress after a bite or two. The outlet reported that one person was almost hospitalised after taking the challenge, whereas another started rolling around the floor of the restaurant's toilet.

Adam Brody Reveals He Auditioned for Blue's Clues: 'I Really Wanted It But Didn't Get'

Last Updated: Adam Brody, known for The O.C., revealed he auditioned hard for a role but didn't get it. Before he became everyone's favorite witty teen in The O.C., Adam Brody was just another young actor in Los Angeles chasing auditions — including one he really, really wanted. At a recent comedy actor roundtable hosted by The Hollywood Reporter, Brody revealed a surprising role he tried hard to land, and it wasn't in your typical teen drama. Seated alongside Ted Danson, Jason Segel, Seth Rogen, Julio Torres, and John Mulaney, Brody was asked which role he had fought hardest for in his career. That's when he dropped the unexpected name: Blue's Clues. 'I tried real hard," the 45-year-old actor confessed, adding, 'It was like 1999, I auditioned for it, I wanted it, I didn't get it. But I would've loved it." The children's TV series had just become a sensation on Nick Jr. at the time, with Steve Burns charming toddlers across the world as the original host. Brody clearly saw the appeal but the role eventually went to someone else, and the hosting baton later passed to Donovan Patton and now Joshua Dela Cruz. Seth Rogen, also part of the panel, nudged Brody with the question, 'You fought for it?" to which Brody smiled and repeated, 'I tried real hard." But Blue's Clues wasn't the only one that got away. Brody also revealed that he once read for Henry Parker's role in Dawson's Creek, a part that ultimately went to Michael Pitt. He remembered the audition vividly: 'I read with Scott Speedman, sweating," he shared. Thankfully, fate had other plans for Brody. Just a few years later, he landed his breakout role as Seth Cohen in The O.C., which debuted in 2003 and ran until 2007. The show made him a household name and starred Mischa Barton, Ben McKenzie, and Rachel Bilson. Brody has since continued to explore comedy and was most recently seen in the Netflix rom-com series Nobody Wants This, playing a rabbi opposite Kristen Bell's podcast host. Season 2 is currently in the works. First Published:
