Aanathazhchira near Technocity to be developed into tourism hub

Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to promote lesser-known destinations and boost local tourism, state tourism department has launched a major initiative to transform Aanathazhchira, near Technocity in Pallippuram, into a vibrant tourism spot. Spread across 16.7 acres owned by revenue department and Andoorkonam grama panchayat, the project aims to tap into the region's natural beauty and strategic location near the fast-developing IT corridor. As part of the formal procedures, revenue minister K Rajan handed over the title deed of the land to tourism minister P A Mohamed Riyas at a function held at Aanathazhchira Ground on Wednesday. Minister for food and civil supplies G R Anil, who represents the area, presided over the event. Riyas said the project would be beneficial for the local community, besides giving a facelift to the landscape of the village. The revenue minister said the project would leverage the immense tourism potential of Aanathazhchira. Anil lauded the tourism minister for taking up the project proposed by him considering the immense potential of the place. It was Anil who initially proposed the Aanathazhchira tourism project, recognising the location's untapped tourism potential and connectivity advantages. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Diversify your portfolio with Edelweiss NFO Edelweiss Mutual Fund AMC Undo Following the land transfer, minister Riyas suggested including the development plan under the proposals discussed at the tourism investors meet (TIM) held earlier this year. The tourism department has entrusted the project management unit, formed as part of the TIM follow-up, to draw up a detailed project framework. This will explore ways to fully utilise the site's tourism potential and integrate it into broader state tourism strategies. The project is slated to be developed through a public-private partnership model. An expression of interest (EoI) inviting construction partners for the project, envisioned as a 'nightlife tourism destination', is expected to be floated in Sept. The project will prioritise eco-friendly infrastructure, with plans for water adventure sports, a children's eco-park and a dedicated cycling track. The focus on sustainability and innovation is expected to make Aanathazhchira a unique model for integrated urban tourism and recreational development, authorities said.
