Broncos injury report: Sean Payton confirms torn ACL for offensive lineman
Gargiulo (6-5, 310 pounds) was carted off the field in the third quarter of Saturday's 27-7 preseason win and he was placed on injured reserve on Sunday. Gargiulo, a seventh-round draft pick last year, had been competing for a backup swing guard/center role this summer.
Elsewhere on the injury front, the list of players who did not practice Tuesday included fullback Michael Burton (hamstring), cornerback Damarri Mathis (undisclosed), cornerback Reese Taylor (hamstring) and defensive lineman Kristian Williams (undisclosed). After practice, Payton indicated Mathis is "fine" and will be back on the field soon.
And the good news: Broncos outside linebacker Nik Bonitto (foot), inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw (quad), wide receiver A.T. Perry (ankle) and cornerback Joshua Pickett (wrist/thumb) were back at practice.
After losing tight end/fullback Nate Adkins (ankle), Payton said Denver will "pay attention" to the tight end waiver wire once roster cuts begin next week. Adkins was one of the team's best blocking tight ends and a capable fullback, so the Broncos will be in the market to find a short-term replacement in the coming days.

Ousmane Touré set to miss entire season for Lille
Lille OSC have confirmed that Ousmane Touré (20) suffered a serious injury during the 3-3 draw with Stade Brestois on Sunday afternoon. The defender filling in at right-back due to injuries and illness to Aïssa Mandi, Tiago Santos, and Thomas Meunier had to come off midway through the second half. Lille have since revealed that the defender ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will require surgery to solve the problem. Lille explained that 'he will face a long period of unavailability' as these injuries require a lengthy rehabilitation period, while La Voix du Nord reports that he could miss the rest of the season. This could mean that Bruno Génésio will turn to the teenager Maxima Goffi (17) as he did on Sunday, although Santos should soon be back in action after the Portuguese youth international's return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines following an ACL injury was temporarily delayed by a sore throat. Steelers in 'consideration' for standout free agent visit, per report
Steelers fans rejoice, one of the best free agent offensive linemen may be on his way to Pittsburgh. On Tuesday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that G Dalton Risner, who just finished a workout for the Bengals, is considering the Steelers for a potential visit as he decides on his future landing spot. "Free agent guard Dalton Risner, who worked out for the Bengals today, will also visit the Seahawks, per source. Visiting the Steelers also a consideration," Fowler wrote on X. "Wants to take multiple visits before making a decision." Selected by the Broncos with the 41st overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Risner wasted little time making an impact and was named to the PFWA NFL All-Rookie Team in his debut season — which featured a talented ensemble of players such as DE Nick Bosa, DT Dexter Lawrence, RB Josh Jacobs, and more. Risner has 81 games of starting experience from his time with the Broncos and Vikings. At best, he would challenge the Steelers' guards for a starting spot — and at worst, he'd serve as arguably one of the league's best backups. Arizona Cardinals hold tryouts for 2 offensive linemen
With Hayden Conner's knee injury, it appears the Cardinals are looking to add a guard or a center to the roster. The Arizona Cardinals appear likely to sign an offensive lineman on Wednesday. They released receiver Kelly Akharaiyi, opening a roster spot and held tryouts for a pair of interior linemen. According to the NFL transaction report, they had tryouts for Brady Latham and Dohnovan West. With rookie Hayden Conner suffering a knee injury in the Cardinals' preseason game on Saturday and with both starters and key backups not expected to play in the preseason finale, they likely want to make sure they have enough depth to make it through the game before final cuts. Latham is a 6-foot-5, 314-pound guard who went undrafted in 2024 out of Arkansas. He signed with the New York Jets, was cut in August and also spent time with the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason. West is a center who played at Arizona State and went undrafted in 2022. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers after the draft and then did not make the final roster that year. We will see what the plan ends up being with the roster and these tryouts soon enough.
