Two books on B.R. Ambedkar released in Karnataka's Shivamogga dist.
Two books on B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, were released in a function in Karnataka's Shivamogga on Saturday, June 21.
The books released were Mookanayaka and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Dinachari.
Mookanayaka is a collection of editorials written by Ambedkar for his periodical, which had the same name. Writers Renuka Nidagundi and Ramesh Aroli translated the work into Kannada. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Dinachari, a book on Ambedkar's routine life, has been translated by P. Aradimalliah Kattera. Aharnishi, a publishing house in Shivamogga, has published both the books.
Justice H.N. Nagamohan Das, retired judge of Karnataka High Court and head of the commission on internal reservation of the Scheduled Castes, released the books. Writers V.L. Narasimhamurthy and Vrinda Hegde spoke about the books.
M. Gurumurthy, State convener of the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti presided over the programme. Authors Ramesh Aroli, P. Aradimallaiah and publisher Akshata Hunchadakatte were present.

Cong to hold fast in Gwalior over Ambedkar statue row
Bhopal: Top Congress leaders from the state will observe a fast in Gwalior on June 25 to press for the installation of BR Ambedkar's statue on the premises of the MP high court's Gwalior bench. Notably, a controversy has erupted between two groups of lawyers over the installation of the statue. Addressing a press conference in Gwalior on Sunday, Congress state unit media wing chairman Mukesh Nayak said the fast would be observed at Surya Namaskar tri-section in Gwalior in which party state in-charge Harish Chaudhary, state chief Jiu Parwari and several party leaders would participate. Nayak said how there could be any resistance or opposition to installation of Ambedkar's statue on the premises of the high court. He said: "The fast is being organised by the party to give a clear message that there can't be a bigger and holier agenda than allegiance to the Constitution and social harmony."
