Saudi envoy to UK honored for maritime work
RIYADH: The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport awarded an honorary doctorate to Saudi Ambassador to the UK Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan.
The event took place at the International Maritime Organization's headquarters in London, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
The honor recognizes Prince Khalid's significant contributions to advancing Saudi Arabia's maritime initiatives and supporting the aspirations of Arab nations.
It also acknowledges his role in promoting maritime sustainability, contributing to the IMO's goals, and leading the 33rd session of the IMO Assembly — an important milestone in Arab and international maritime progress.
Prince Khalid thanked the academy for the honor, expressing hope that it will encourage greater cooperation to empower Arab countries in the maritime sector and enhance their global presence.
He emphasized that growth in this vital sector depends on continued collaboration and knowledge exchange, supporting sustainable development and regional maritime integration.
The academy fosters leadership in the maritime field and supports human capacity development through academic programs and regional partnerships, the SPA reported.

Saudi Arabia and Netherlands sign agreements with investments exceeding SR428 million
Saudi Gazette Report AMSTERDAM — Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands have signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU) with investments exceeding SR428 million in Amsterdam. The agreements were inked between a number of Saudi and Dutch companies with the aim to develop and localize modern technologies in the environmental, water, and agricultural fields. Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti attended the ceremony of signing 27 agreements and MoUs during his current visit to the Netherlands from June 10 to 12 in the presence of a number of the Dutch government officials as well as senior executives and business leaders from the public and private sectors. The signing included a MoU between the Saudi National Program for the Development of the Livestock and Fisheries Sector and the Dutch company VigGuard to establish cooperation to localize livestock disease control research. MoUs were also signed between the National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development, the Dutch Greenhouse Alliance, the Dutch company Hoogendoorn, Hudson River Biotechnology, and Wageningen University, to launch initiatives in the fields of agricultural technology and research, and to establish capacity-building partnerships in the fields of agricultural innovation, greenhouse farming solutions, and green biotechnology. The partnerships also included the signing of a MoU between the National Agricultural Services Company and Delphi to support agricultural innovation. MoUs were also signed between the Makkah Region Development Authority, Van der Hoeven Projects for Protected Agriculture and Horticulture, and Horizon 11 to transfer and localize biotechnology. A MoU was signed between Al-Yasin Agricultural Company and the Cobret Experimental Center to establish a partnership worth up to one million euros to promote biotechnology in control and crop protection. Another MoU was signed between the Saudi Greenhouse Management and Agricultural Marketing Company and Plantae and Certhon with the aim of investing in localizing innovations in the agricultural sector. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Lehaa Group of Companies for Trade and Agricultural Investment, the Dutch Royal HZPC Group, and the Gal Sahara Potato Production Company, with investments exceeding SR76 million. This will enhance potato production in the Kingdom, in addition to establishing a French fries factory equipped with the latest processing technologies. Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti also witnessed the signing of six MoUs between Dafa Agricultural Company and a number of companies specialized in the fields of vegetables, fruits, fertilizers, greenhouses, and software project supply, with investments exceeding SR292 million. It is worth noting that this visit comes within the framework of the plans and vision of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture to enhance the global capacity of the Saudi agricultural sector, expand the production and export of local agricultural products, contribute to increasing the volume of trade between the Kingdom and the Netherlands, and strengthen international partnerships, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia to use 3D accident analysis technology
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The National Transportation Safety Center (NTSC) has announced its adoption of the latest smart technologies in safety investigations, a move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of safety investigations and achieving the highest standards of efficiency and quality in accident analysis across various modes of transportation. The center explained that the most prominent of these technologies is 3D scanning, which enables specialized teams to document accident sites with high accuracy, capture the position of the vehicle, and gather environmental details surrounding the accident site. This technology enables the reconstruction of the accident site using 3D models with high accuracy and reliability, contributing to a more professional analysis of the causes and circumstances, and providing accurate information to decision-makers and stakeholders in the transportation and safety sectors. This development comes as part of the center's ongoing efforts to adopt the latest technological capabilities and enhance the national safety system, in line with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in the field of transportation safety. ARAFAT: The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, in cooperation with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, is using high-resolution satellite imagery, geospatial artificial intelligence and real-time data during the Hajj season. These tools help monitor and analyze human and vehicular movement to enhance crowd management efficiency, with the analysis covering entry points to Makkah to observe vehicle flow and peak times. They also track crowd density around the Grand Mosque and analyze pilgrimage routes to predict mobility patterns and congestion, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday. The technology supports immediate decision-making by providing accurate data and improving crowd distribution. It also ensures safe mobility and enhances coordination among operational teams on the ground. The collaboration presents an advanced model for using geospatial technologies, helping improve safety and increase field operation efficiency during Hajj.
