Scotland's Robert MacIntyre and England's Matt Fitzpatrick are five shots off the pace, alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler who played his first tournament round since winning the Open at Royal Portrush.

Bhatia eagled the 16th hole and closed with two birdies to edge ahead with an opening 62, Fleetwood also finishing strongly with four closing birdies.
'I hit the ball so well off the tee that I was always giving myself an opportunity,' said Fleetwood, who found 13 of 14 fairways.
Rose built his round on five birdies in six holes around the turn before dropping a shot on the 13th.
Only the top 70 in the season-long FedEx rankings have qualified for the event – although Rory McIlroy opted not to play this week – with the top 50 after the tournament reaching next week's BMW Championship.
The top 30 after that will contest the Tour Championship in pursuit of a 10million dollar (£7.4million) bonus.

Lescott backing Manchester City to win the Premier League title
The 42-year-old backed his former club to bounce back from a disappointing Premier League and Champions League campaign under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola, suggesting they would have benefitted from the mental break last season provided. 'Regardless of how last season panned out, they are definitely going to be one of the favourites. It's Pep Guardiola, it's Man City with some of the world's best players,' he said. 'It would be foolish to not see them as favourites in every competition they're enter. 'That doesn't mean they're going to win everything, but they're definitely one of the favourites.' City finished 13 points behind champions Liverpool in third place last season but Lescott put their drop off down to a fatigue from winning. 'It was obviously an unprecedented season for them last year, but they've achieved something no one in the history of English football has achieved so it's always going to take its toll,' he explained. 'It did that last year. Not only a physical toll, but a mental toll to stay focussed for that long and to have to win games for that period of time. 'When they recognised that they weren't going to win the title, whether it was subconsciously or not, they were able to switch off a little bit. 'Physically the demand was still there but hopefully they've had a break mentally, not to have to go out there and concentrate points wise, hopefully that now means they'll come back ready to go.' Lescott was speaking at the new Topps Premier League 2026 trading card launch in London, which features players from all 20 clubs in the league in their 2025/26 kits at the Fanatics flagship store on Thursday. He was joined by other legends such as Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand to celebrate the new stand-alone range that features legends and current stars, with an extensive parallel programme and more autographs than ever before. The showcase of Premier League talent among the collectibles also gave Lescott reason to be excited about his former club as he enthused over City's signing of 21-year-old Cherki. 'He's very exciting, for the Premier League as well. He plays with a lot of flair, a lot of quality. I'm anticipating a good start for him and a good season,' he said. 'But again, we can't get carried away and make judgements too soon, whether it's good or bad, there needs to be a bedding-in period.' And despite the excitement, Lescott also issued caution about expectations on the youngster who joined from Lyon this summer. 'It's a big change for him, coming from the French league, it's going to be a different demand, physically, mentally, and also a tension. I think we only see foreign players in different leagues when they do well. 'Now we see him in the tough times and the scrutiny comes when you're not doing so well. So it's how they manage those periods and understand that people are going to be watching every game, every moment.' A security video from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport shows Richardson angrily confronting her partner, the American sprinter Christian Coleman, and shoving him into a wall. Coleman was seen attempting to diffuse the situation by walking away from Richardson throughout the video, however, he was pushed and shoved on multiple occasions. Richardson, who won a silver mdeal in the 100m and gold in the 4x100m relay at the Olympics in Paris last year, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault. According to the Port of Seattle Police, Richardson told officers that the argument began because Coleman had taken her headphones. 'Richardson advised she did not assault him in any way and the dispute was only a verbal argument,' police documents said. Coleman, however, has since insisted that Richardson should not have been arrested and described them both as 'two dominant personalities'. 'For me personally, I feel like it was a sucky situation all round,' said Coleman, who declined to press charges against Richardson. 'I don't feel like she should have been arrested. 'I mean people have discussions and emotions and stuff like that. She has things that she needs to work on for herself of course. So do I, so do you, so does everybody. 'But I'm the type of guy who's in the business of extending grace, and mercy and love. The Northern Irishman, 22, quit his boyhood club at the beginning of the month to seal a loan move to Aris Limassol and will join the Cypriot club permanently next summer. Leaving the Govan giants wasn't a decision he took lightly, but he quickly realised his time was coming to an end when the new Russell Martin era was beginning to take shape this summer. But McCausland will always cherish the memories he made in Glasgow. After making his debut for Aris Limassol in 2-2 draw against AEK Athens in the first leg of their Uefa Conference League qualifier last night, McCausland told SunSport: "Playing for Rangers was something I always wanted to do. "Sometimes, though, that's not the case and you can't hold onto things. "I wish (my time) at Rangers would have went better but that wasn't the case. "Minutes (on the pitch) is something I need at my age and I wasn't getting that at Rangers. "I had a good chat with Russell (Martin) when he came in and that was the decision we made (for me to leave) and I'm glad we made that decision." McCausland was involved in the first pre-season fixture against Club Brugge and featured in two friendlies behind closed doors against Dunfermline and Hamilton Accies - scoring against the latter. But when Rangers travelled down south to the home of English football at St George's Park, the winger was left out of the squad altogether for the 1-1 draw with Barnsley. The new Rangers transfer special looks at John Souttar's future, Rangers' defensive search and if it's the end of Nicolas Raskin That's when he realised his time was up in Glasgow. He said: "I would say after St George's was when I knew it was going to happen. "You get a bit of wind that it's going to happen and you just need to prepare yourself for that. "After not getting regular game time the last couple of months, I think that prepared my mind that it was going to be the case. "Look, it happened and it's not really fazed me. I'm here to do well and move on." McCausland might no longer be a Rangers player, but he will remain a Rangers fan for the rest of his days. He watched on as Martin's men got off to a flier in the Champions League third round qualifier against Viktoria Plzen with a remarkable 3-0 win in the first leg at Ibrox. It's something I'm going to do, watch all the games if I can. "I don't think that's ever going to leave me. It's something that will live with me for the rest of my life. "I thought they were excellent. The two wingers - in my position obviously - were excellent, I thought." But now McCausland begins a new chapter of his career in new surroundings in Cyprus. Some things do remain the same, though, as he's linked up with two old friends in Limassol - and two former Ibrox colleagues no less. The wide-man had interest from the MLS and other clubs in Europe, but the lure of working with Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun again was too much to turn down. 5 Djeidi Gassama, Rangers Credit: Willie Vass But before he could answer why he opted for Aris over other clubs, McCausland was interrupted by Balogun who laughed: "Because I'm here!" Then when the winger was asked if the pair did help convince him to make the move, he replied: "Yeah, for sure. Familiar faces. "I think when I narrowed them down - obviously a lot of interest from America as well - I felt here is a great way of living. "It's a different lifestyle and a completely different way of living. "Taking that step while I'm young, when I don't have any liabilities and stuff like that. I'm looking forward to the challenge." He was thrown into the deep end last night as he made his debut from the start in a tough tie against AEK Athens. And it looked like his European dream with his new club was over just as it began as Aris plunged to a 2-0 deficit after just 12 MINUTES in their home leg. 5 A remarkable comeback saw them pull it back level in the first half, though, and the tie is there for the taking in Athens next week. He said: "I think it's just trying to keep calm. We've got so many experiences boys at the back - Connor and Leon. "You just need to rely on them in a way and try to bring an impact to the game yourself. "At times it was tough to get up the pitch but I think in terms of how the team played, we showed great quality to get back into the game and it puts us in a good spot for next week." And they certainly relied on Rangers hero Goldson as the stand-in skipper rifled home the equaliser with a stunning volley - that even caught the defender by surprise, according to McCausland. Asked if he knew the defender had a goal like that in his locker, McCausland replied: "I've never seen it, no, to be fair! I was standing right behind it and it was an absolute screamer!
