Isabela Ferrer's 'safe space' text to Justin Baldoni used as evidence in case against Blake Lively

Express Tribune09-02-2025
Amid Justin Baldoni's ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively, Baldoni has reportedly included a message from 'It Ends With Us' actress Isabela Ferrer to support his conduct on set.
On December 20, 2024, Blake Lively filed an 80-page lawsuit accusing Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and orchestrating a social media campaign to damage her reputation. In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and publicist Leslie Sloane, accusing them of defamation, extortion, and invasion of privacy.
According to an exclusive report from In Touch, Baldoni referred to a text message from Isabela Ferrer, dated July 11, 2023, to back up his claim that there were no issues with his behavior on set until Lively became involved.
Isabela Ferrer, a 24-year-old graduate of Carnegie Mellon, made her film debut alongside Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively in *It Ends With Us*. Although born and raised in New York City, Ferrer spent considerable time in Northern Ireland with her mother. Prior to *It Ends With Us*, Ferrer appeared in the short film *Fire Burning* (2024) and the Paramount+ series *Astrology Girl* (2024).
In Ferrer's alleged text message to Baldoni, she wrote:
"Just got my film developed from when we were shooting so here's this sweet pic! I also have to say thank you SO much for an incredible experience on my first film. I still can't shake the feeling of it all because it truly was life changing for me."
'You are such a wonderful, smart and sincere director and you created such a comfortable, safe space for me to feel like I could fully step into this role. I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming environment. It will stay with me for the rest of my life!!! See you soon, whether in the fall or later, & hope you're doing well.'
Justin Baldoni allegedly responded to Ferrer, stating: 'You were such a joy and pleasure to work with. Your openness, your raw talent, your kindness, and your excitement made me fall in love with directing again.'
He also mentioned that Isabela Ferrer had 'a big career' ahead.

UFC broadcasting rights move to Paramount in $7.7 billion deal starting 2026

Paramount has signed a landmark $7.7 billion agreement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), securing exclusive U.S. broadcasting and streaming rights for all UFC events beginning in 2026. The seven-year deal, announced on August 11, will see CBS and Paramount+ stream and air 30 UFC Fight Nights and 13 marquee events annually. This agreement effectively ends UFC's current partnership with ESPN+, which pays $550 million per year and uses a pay-per-view model. The new deal more than doubles that annual value, averaging $1.1 billion per year, according to Sportico. The move comes on the heels of Paramount's merger with Skydance Corporation and is part of a broader strategy under new CEO David Ellison. In a statement, Ellison emphasized that live sports are 'a cornerstone' of Paramount's vision to drive engagement and subscriber growth. Paramount+ currently trails behind major competitors like Netflix and Disney+, with subscriber numbers declining to 77.7 million as of June 30. Under the new agreement, select UFC events will also simulcast on CBS. Mark Shapiro, president and COO of UFC's parent company TKO Group, called the deal 'a major win' for fans and athletes, promising broader reach and deeper engagement. Paramount also indicated interest in pursuing international UFC rights as they become available. The deal is expected to reshape UFC's distribution model in the U.S., eliminating pay-per-view and increasing accessibility for fans. It also coincides with political developments surrounding the merger, including past concessions by Paramount that allegedly helped gain regulatory approval. In a symbolic gesture, the deal could culminate in a UFC event at the White House in July 2026, as part of the United States' 250th Independence Day celebrations. President Donald Trump, who has longstanding ties to UFC President Dana White and has attended several recent fights with Ellison, is reportedly planning the event. Meanwhile, ESPN will shift focus to WWE, securing rights to major events like Wrestlemania and SummerSlam under a separate five-year agreement starting in 2026.

Stephen Colbert jokes about ‘Late Show' cancellation, mocks JD Vance, and courts streaming platforms

Stephen Colbert is making light of The Late Show's impending cancellation by turning recent headlines — and his future career prospects — into comedy material. During Thursday's episode, the host used part of his monologue to satirize Senator JD Vance and joke about his own post-CBS availability. Referencing a Daily Beast report about Vance allegedly requesting Ohio's river levels be raised for a personal boat trip, Colbert introduced a new character called 'Wittle Pwince Vance.' Donning a mask of the senator's face with a crown and using a baby voice, he mocked the alleged entitlement, exclaiming, 'I want my wiver waised for my birthday!' before dramatically demanding juice — and later an execution — from an imaginary royal court. 'Not fwuit juice — apple! Kill him! Kill him!' Colbert added, in full satirical character. After removing the mask, Colbert turned to the camera and quipped, 'Netflix, call me. I'm available in June,' hinting at future job opportunities after CBS officially ends The Late Show in May 2026. He added, 'I will also entertain offers from Amazon,' as the bit continued. Earlier in the episode, Colbert addressed recent criticisms from former President Donald Trump, who claimed Colbert and other late-night hosts lacked talent. Trump's comments surfaced shortly after CBS' parent company, Paramount, agreed to a $16 million settlement with Trump related to a legal dispute over 60 Minutes. While Paramount insists Colbert's show was canceled for financial reasons, speculation of political motivations has grown. Colbert responded by sarcastically agreeing with Trump's talent assessment, telling his audience, 'I think we're all equally untalented.' He also aired a mock promotional clip highlighting Trump's remarks, ending with the graphic: 'Colbert is No. 1 in late night. Just ask our elderly viewers' — followed by a stamp reading 'Still Canceled!' Colbert's final episodes are scheduled to air through May 2026, marking the end of a decade-long run.

Eminem recalls how daughter Hailie Jade pushed him towards sobriety after 2007 overdose

Eminem has reflected on a pivotal moment in his life, revealing that missing his daughter Hailie Jade McClintock's first guitar recital after a near-fatal overdose in 2007 became a turning point in his path to sobriety. Speaking in his new documentary STANS, released in cinemas on August 7, the rapper detailed his struggles at the time. 'I got into this vicious cycle of, 'I'm depressed so I need more pills' and then your tolerance gets so high you end up overdosing,' he said. 'I woke up in the hospital and I didn't know what the f--- happened. It seemed like I fell asleep, and I woke up with tubes in me and s---. I wanted to get up. I couldn't move,' he recalled, adding that after leaving hospital he felt he would 'die if I don't do something.' Eminem said the realisation deepened when he saw a recording of Hailie's recital. 'The amount of guilt that I felt, I cried when I saw it because I was like, 'Oh my God, I missed that.'' He then asked himself, 'Do you want to miss everything? If you can't do it for yourself... then at least do it for them.' The rapper has been sober since April 2008, creating his 2009 album Relapse during his early recovery. In April 2024, he marked 16 years of sobriety. STANS, directed by Steven Leckart, explores the complex relationship between Eminem's private life and public persona, featuring rare footage, stylised recreations, and interviews, including an exclusive conversation with the artist. It will be in AMC Theatres until August 10 and stream internationally on Paramount+ later this year.
