What happens behind the scenes in WWE? This SMU alum shows you exclusively on Netflix
WWE (World Wrestling Entertainmant) is the top pro wrestling / sports entertainment company in the world. The financial success of this long-running organization has other pro sports groups taking notice.
There's the athletic side of WWE and also the entertainment side. Yes, fans know results are predetermined, but who and how it's determined who will win are part of the company's mystique.
It's a process, a very interesting process.
SMU alum Chris Weaver will give you a first-hand look at what occurs there as the director of the new docuseries 'WWE: UnReal,' which premieres July 29 on Netflix.
From Monday Night RAW to WrestleMania, 'WWE: UnReal' goes backstage with WWE Superstars and staff as they bring the company's major spectacles to life. Season 1 covers from January to WrestleMania in April.
So, WWE's biggest battles aren't always in the ring. 'WWE: Unreal' dives into the writers' room where legends — and feuds — are made. Paul Levesque, a 14-time WWE World Champion best known in the ring as Triple H and WWE's chief content officer since 2022, serves as the narrator of the docuseries.
Weaver, who has a degree in Communication Arts: Cinema with a minor in English from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, is a senior producer for NFL Films, including the successful NFL reality docuseries 'Hard Knocks' on HBO. He is in his 22nd year working with NFL Films. Prior, he was an intern in the Broadcast Department for the Dallas Cowboys. During his teens years, Weaver gradauted from Mesquite High School in 1998 outside Dallas.
Here is my video interview with 'WWE: UnReal' Director Chris Weaver.
Weaver is a 9-time Emmy winning filmmaker. He has been instrumental in developing and launching new series such as 'Quarterback' for Netflix, 'Hard Knocks: in Season' for HBO, 'Peyton's Places' for ESPN+, 'All or Nothing' for Amazon, 'NFL Icons' for MGM+, 'NFL Films Drawn' for Youtube, and now 'WWE: UnReal: for Netflix. He has produced numerous features for 'Hard Knocks: Training Camp' for HBO, 'NFL Films Presents' for FS1, 'NFL Gameday All Access' for Youtube, 'Inside the NFL' for CW, 'Hey Rookie: Welcome to the NFL' for ESPN, 'A Football Life' for NFL Network and many more.
His current focus is on story producing, lead editing, writing, and field directing.
In an unprecedented turn, 'WWE: UnReal' takes you behind the scenes - into the writer's room and the homes of WWE's greatest Superstars - to show the year-round work it takes to execute one of the most secretive shows in the world week over week. And when the curtain falls down, the business of getting a show to air is just as compelling as the Main Event.

Wild brawl breaks out among fans in stands at WWE SummerSlam, caught on video
A large fight occurred outside the ring at WWE's SummerSlam on Sunday, and it was not the Cody Rhodes-John Cena street fight. A video posted to X captured what appeared to be three female fans going at it in the stands, and then a male fan grabbing one of the women and pulling her away from behind. Another man appeared to grab the male fan, and two women from the ruckus exchanged some hair-pulling and punches. A total of six fans appeared to be directly involved, although only one woman was seen throwing punches in the video. However, the woman in the red pants appeared to land a kick on one of the men after security settled most of the madness down. It is unclear what provoked the brouhaha. There were 60,531 people in attendance for night two of the event at MetLife Stadium, the home of the New York Giants and Jets. In all, attendance was listed as 113,722 for the weekend. The event saw both of its top championships change hands a total of three times. On night one, CM Punk defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship. However, his glory was short-lived after his longtime rival Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase after revealing he was not injured, hitting Punk with a curb stomp to win the title. On Sunday, Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to take back the WWE Championship, which he had lost to Cena at WrestleMania 41. The two shared an emotional moment in the ring. Afterward, Brock Lesnar surprised the entire crowd and attacked Cena, re-igniting one of the company's greatest rivalries of all time. WWE's "Monday Night Raw" is sure to revisit these storylines at 8 p.m. ET.

Pamela Anderson addresses rumors that Meghan Markle's cooking show was ‘a rip off' of her own series
Pamela Anderson has finally responded to the comparisons between her and Meghan Markle's cooking shows. Margaret Qualley Took the Cosmo Quiz Between Making Movies
You know when someone is so booked and busy it feels kind of spiritual? That's Margaret Qualley right now. Case in point: The very morning she sat down to chat with Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Willa Bennett for her 60th anniversary cover interview, her latest film Honey Don't!—the second entry in Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke's Drive-Away Dolls lesbian road trip trilogy—was announced to premiere at Cannes. Not bad for a random Wednesday. And that's not all she has going on right now. She is also starring in Richard Linklater's Blue Moon and just wrapped Huntington, a darkly funny thriller with Glen Powell—and yes, you did spot her in Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix last weekend. Somehow, she still managed to show up to the set of her cover shoot on time and with the vibe of a girl who borrowed her best friend's sweater on the way out the door—not the air you'd expect of someone redefining screen stardom before our very eyes. She understandably had no time to fill out her version of our iconic Cosmo Quiz between photo setups, but she promised she'd get it done—and she's a woman of her word! So she FedEx'd us her completed copy from yes, she was working on yet another movie. (We knew she'd come through!) Over more than a decade in the game, Margaret's made a name for herself inhabiting characters who sit right at the intersection of womanhood, contradiction, and full-blown emotional hurricane. And we wouldn't have it any other way. The answers to her quiz aren't indicative of any characters though. They're quintessentially Margaret. Married. Jack Antonoff. Adam Sandler. Asheville, NC. My dad. My wedding day. Listen to your heart and share how you feel. Anything that involves playing that game is Pictionary. Today. Like 10 minutes ago. Smokey and Jack. Rhinestone butterflies. Björk's swan, duh. Bleachers Stone Pony. Super-high paying with flexible hours. Fine, wings, wave. 4.8 Avocado toast, Fml. Hutch, aka Shawn Hutchinson from Bleachers. Killed anyone. The Kardashians. Show up. Go outside and ride my scooter around in a circle in the driveway while listening to Daniel Powter's 'Bad Day.' Hair by Evanie Frausto for PRAVANA. Makeup by Romy Soleimani. Manicure by Yukie Miyakawa for Dior. Set design by Nicholas Des Jardins. Production by Dana Brockman at Viewfinders. Shot on location at The Penthouse of 1 East 62nd Street, represented by Zina Raslan with the Gambino Group at Compass, and Classic Harbor Line.
