A new report claims Jackman was "disappointed" and blindsided by Furness' commentsHugh Jackman was reportedly caught off guard by ex Deborra-Lee Furness' public comments about "betrayal" in their marriage.
After filing for divorce on May 23, nearly two years after announcing a seemingly amicable separation, Furness, 69, spoke out in a statement, reflecting on the "breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage" and navigating the "traumatic journey of betrayal."
According to a report from The Daily Mail on Wednesday, May 28, an anonymous source told the outlet that Jackman, 56, was blindsided and "extremely disappointed" by Furness' remarks. The source claimed that "there was an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press" and Jackman "knows that he cannot change anything."
Reps for Jackman and Furness did not respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment.
Furness and Jackman met on the set of an Australian television series in 1995 and got married the next year.
When the pair, who share two kids, announced their separation in a joint statement back in September 2023, they said they "decided to separate to pursue our individual growth" after a "wonderful, loving marriage." They concluded at the time, "This is the sole statement either of us will make."
In January 2025, Jackman stepped out with Sutton Foster and the two were photographed holding hands on a date. He and Foster, 50, shared the stage in Broadway's The Music Man in 2022.
Furness said in her May 27 statement, "My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It's a profound wound that cuts deep. However, I believe in a higher power and that God or the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us."

"I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose," the actress added. "It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom."
"We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves," Furness concluded. "I remain grateful."

Amal Clooney and George Clooney Enjoy a Lively Date Night—and Bring Bono Along Too

Since Amal Clooney and George Clooney have reunited once again in their home of New York, the usually discreet and laidback—though never not glamorous—couple have been enjoying each other's company and all that the glittering city has to offer. While Amal had jetted off to Cannes Film Festival and to Osaka, Japan for another glitzy engagement, George has been seeing out the final performances of his hit Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck. The couple stepped out on Friday evening for dinner at Polo Bar in Midtown, bringing along their close friend Bono to third wheel and enjoy some steaks, clams oreganata, and good French wine. The trio looked to be in good spirits as they laughed and skipped through the streets. It was one of the Clooneys more laidback of outfit choices: Amal wore a mesh cherry print strapless dress by Stella McCartney that touched her ankles and accessorizing with a black and pearlescent clutch bag and bronze pumps, as well as some dangly gold earrings. She also showed off some fairly new caramel highlights in her signature long brunette hair, worn flipped over in a deep side part. Her husband George, meanwhile, opted for a more casual navy suit with a black polo shirt underneath, black patent shoes, and a gray baseball cap. Bono stuck to his own decades-held style formula: An all-black suit and red-tinted circular sunglasses.

Bills QB Josh Allen and actor Hailee Steinfeld marry in Southern California

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and actor Hailee Steinfeld tied the knot on Saturday, according to multiple media reports. Pictures emerged from the power couple's wedding that took place in Southern California, where both Allen and Steinfeld live. Photos obtained by 'People' magazine show Steinfeld, in a white strapless gown, walking down the aisle as well as the couple sharing a kiss. The timing and location of the wedding were closely guarded secrets, though Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins let the cat out of the bag in March by revealing the date as May 31. He later backtracked, saying he didn't know anything. Despite the pending wedding, Allen was present for the start of the Bills voluntary series of spring practices, which opened on Tuesday. The Bills return to practice on Monday, though Allen isn't scheduled to address the media until the Bills open their mandatory sessions on June 10. Allen, who turned 29 last week, and the 28-year-old Steinfeld were engaged during the Bills bye week in November, when the quarterback proposed on a California cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The two were first linked in the spring of 2023, when they were photographed dining together in New York City. Steinfeld has since begun attending Bills home games and the couple was inseparable at the NFL Awards ceremony in February, when Allen credited Steinfeld upon accepting the league's MVP honor. Allen followed suit in April in being spotted with Steinfeld arriving for an after-party following premier of the movie 'Sinners,' which stars Steinfeld. Steinfeld began her acting career at the age of 10, and earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role as Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers' 2010 remake of 'True Grit.' Allen is entering his eighth NFL season. In March, he signed a contract extension worth $330 million.
