Lille consider move for former Metz goalkeeper

Yahoo24-06-2025
There could be a goalkeeper merry-go-round in Ligue 1 this summer with multiple clubs in the market for new No.1s and backup shotstoppers.
As reported by L'Équipe, FC Metz are in talks to sign Maxime Dupé (32) from OGC Nice. The experienced Frenchman has just one year remaining on his deal with Le Gym, who are open to a departure. There, he would replace Arnaud Bodart (27), who is now being linked with a move to Lille OSC, where he would be the understudy to Lucas Chevalier.

Lille are looking to replace Vito Mannone, who left the club following the expiry of his deal at the end of last season. As per L'Équipe, LOSC could turn to Bodart, who is coming off the back of a short stint at Metz. The Belgian would, therefore, arrive on a free transfer.
The No.1 at Lille, Lucas Chevalier, is not certain to remain at the club either. His future is in large part dependent on Gianluigi Donnarumma and whether he signs a contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Reims midfielder extends his stay at Ipswich Town

A former Stade de Reims midfielder from a few seasons ago will remain in England for the upcoming campaign. Jens Cajuste (25) will be back at Portman Road for the 2025-26 season after reigning Serie A champions SSC Napoli allowed him to return to Ipswich Town on loan. The Swedish midfielder had just one goal for Kieran McKenna's side domestically last season in a 4-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest back in March. That strike was voted the Premier League Goal of the Month. Cajuste played two seasons in Ligue 1 for Reims, scoring a combined five goals in 39 appearances in that competition. The Champagne club, who were relegated to Ligue 2 last season, signed him in January 2022 for a reported fee of €10m from Midtjylland in the Danish Super League. In August 2023, he moved from France to Serie A, signing a five-year contract at Napoli for a reported fee of €12m. He made 26 appearances for them in the 2023-24 Italian top-flight season. Ipswich were relegated to the Championship this season but are favourites to climb back up to the top flight alongside Southampton, who are managed by Will Still, who coached Cajuste in his final season at Reims. He was a part of the Sweden squad at Euro 2020, a tournament which was delayed by a year because of COVID. Cajuste has picked up a total of 25 caps for the Swedish senior squad and has yet to find the back of the net. GFFN | Joel Lefevre

PSG to sign Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier: source

European champions Paris Saint-Germain have reached agreement with Lille to sign highly-rated goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, a source close to the negotiations told AFP on Friday. The move is likely to pose questions over the future of Italian international 'keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma at PSG. Donnarumma, who was outstanding in PSG's 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan in the Champions League final in May, is in the final year of his contract and would likely interest Premier League clubs. Chevalier, 23, will sign a five-year contract and command a fee of around 40 million euros ($46.5 million). He was nominated on Thursday for this year's men's Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper at the Ballon d'Or gala after exceptional performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season. Lille finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season and qualified for the Europa League. lh/gj/ea

Lille reach agreement with Real Betis for Romain Perraud

According to a report from Foot Mercato and confirmed by L'Équipe, Lille OSC reached an agreement last night to sign Romain Perraud (27) from Real Betis for €3.5m, including bonuses. This is the same amount that the Spanish club paid for the left-back last summer when they signed him from Southampton FC on a contract lasting until 2029. Perraud is reportedly expected to arrive in Lille today and will travel with the squad for tomorrow's preseason friendly against West Ham United at the London Stadium. His arrival marks the end of Lille's hunt for a new starting left-back, which had been a priority for the club following the departures of Gabriel Gudmundsson, Mitchel Bakker, and Ismaily. Lille had been considering a move for David Møller Wolfe (23). However, they were unable to reach an agreement with AZ Alkmaar, and instead, the left-back moved to the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers. GFFN | Nick Hartland
