Charges laid after stolen, cloned credit cards used at Calgary businesses

Two people are facing charges after stolen and cloned credit cards were used at Calgary businesses.
The pair – a 47-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman – are facing 11 charges in total.
Police say the male is a prolific offender who was being monitored by police as part of his release.
It was while monitoring the man that officers uncovered the alleged criminal activity.
Police arrested him on July 23 when he allegedly tried to make a fraudulent transaction inside a northwest Calgary store.
As part of the investigation, officers searched a truck, seizing approximately $3,200 worth of pharmaceutical drugs, an identification embossing machine and break and enter tools.
Police allege the man was responsible for at least seven fraudulent transactions between May and July.
Anyone with information about the cause is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

The woman was airlifted to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. Investigators now have a warrant out for the arrest of Billy Joe Henry Deren, a 46-year-old Athabasca resident. He is described as: light complexion 5 feet 5 inches tall 130 pounds brown hair and blue eyes Deren is known to drive a black 2014 Ford F150 with Alberta plates BLT1508, say police. Police also say not to approach him if you see him.

Police arrest suspect accused of sexually assaulting three women at downtown Toronto parks

Faisal Muhammad, 50, is facing three counts of sexual assault. (Toronto police handout) Toronto police have arrested the suspect wanted in connection with three sexual assaults at downtown parks. Police were initially investigating two cases but in a news release on Wednesday, they confirmed that they've been notified of a third incident also involving the same suspect. It happened on the afternoon of July 11 at HTO Park in the area of Queens Quay West and Reese Street. Police said the suspect asked the victim to take his picture and shortly after, he introduced himself as a palm reader who could tell her fortune. The suspect took the victim to an isolated area, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. Similar incidents occurred at Coronation Park on July 31 and at the Toronto Music Garden on June 27. Police said the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Faisal Muhammed of no fixed address, was arrested on Wednesday. He has been charged with three counts of sexual assault. They have released his image, as investigators believe there may be more victims. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-7474 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Toronto police say a call came in shortly before 8:30 p.m. for a collision near Finch Avenue East and Birchmount Road. Toronto paramedics tell CTV News that they transported one pediatric patient in serious but non-life-threatening condition. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
