Giants QB Shades Shedeur Sanders in Viral Comment
New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart may have just lit a fire under Colorado fans with his recent comments that seemed to subtly criticize Shedeur Sanders' work ethic and preparation-without ever mentioning his name.
In a post-draft interview from Sports Illustrated, Dart reflected on his intense pre-draft meetings with Giants head coach Brian Daboll, saying, "Yeah, you better be prepared going to do a Daboll meeting, because it's intense. He definitely wants to get the most out of you. I would say, if you're not prepared, don't step into the meeting, because you're going to get grilled...So they threw all that they could at me, and I was able to handle it the best way that I could."
At face value, the statement sounds like standard rookie humility. But context is everything. Dart's remarks came just days after ESPN and The Ringer reported that Sanders' pre-draft interview with Daboll didn't go well-due to lack of preparation. The stark contrast between Dart's praise for Daboll's demanding style and Sanders' alleged discomfort during the same process didn't go unnoticed by fans or analysts.
It's a sharp turn for Sanders, who just last fall threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, while earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors. Once projected as a top-10 pick, the Colorado star shockingly fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th pick.
Analyst Todd McShay offered additional insight, revealing that two teams with top-10 picks "didn't get the sense that Shedeur cared all that much about what [they] thought of him." Whether fair or not, that narrative seems to be gaining traction-especially after Dart's pointed comments.
Now, Sanders finds himself in unfamiliar territory: with something to prove.
Buff Nation isn't likely to stay quiet. If Sanders needs fuel, he just got it straight from one of the quarterbacks drafted ahead of him.

Jase Richardson drops to late first in recent Sports Illustrated NBA Mock Draft
Jase Richardson drops to late first in recent Sports Illustrated NBA Mock Draft A recent mock draft from Sports Illustrated has Michigan State Jase Richardson dropping to the late first round of the upcoming NBA Draft. In NBA Draft On SI's latest mock draft, Richardson dropped to the late first round, going No. 22 overall to the Atlanta Hawks. Richardson has widely been considered a late lottery or mid-first round pick so this mock from SI is definitely on the lower end for Richardson. Richardson starred for the Spartans during his lone season in college, playing a massive part in Michigan State winning the Big Ten and reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Richardson averaged 12.1 points per game and shot above 40% from three-point range, which raised his draft stock to where it was a no-brainer to enter the NBA Draft and leave after just one year. The landing spot for Richardson isn't a bad fit as he would have the opportunity to step into a playoff contending team right away in Atlanta. But dropping the later part of the first round would be disappointing to see since he has typically been mocked higher. The NBA Draft will be held on July 25 and 26 in Brooklyn. The draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN. New York Giants' Jalin Hyatt named potential under-the-radar star
New York Giants' Jalin Hyatt named potential under-the-radar star New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has yet to come through with a breakout campaign, and he now enters the most crucial season of his career. After showing some flashes during his rookie campaign in 2023, posting 23 receptions for 311 yards, Hyatt took a major step back in Year 2. The Tennessee product was a non-factor during his second season, recording just eight receptions for 62 yards. Hoping to connect with new quarterback Russell Wilson, who is known for his deep ball, Garrett Podell of CBS Sports named Hyatt as a potential under-the-radar star for the 2025 season. Things could be different for Hyatt in Year 3 though with the Giants moving on from Daniel Jones and bringing in three quarterbacks who love to throw deep: 10-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson, one-time Pro Bowl quarterback Jameis Winston and 2025 25th overall pick Jaxson Dart, who led college football in yards per pass attempt (10.8) in 2024. Yes, OTAs are noncontact, but Hyatt appears to be building a nice early rapport with Wilson, who is slated to begin 2025 as the Giants starting quarterback. If New York can actually find consistency throwing deep now that Jones is gone, then perhaps Hyatt could take a major leap. Hyatt's inability to crack the starting lineup behind Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan'Dale Robinson has limited his chances to break out. All three will be back to lead the wide receiver room again while Hyatt fights for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart. The Giants have lacked the ability to connect on the deep ball with Daniel Jones under center. However, both Wilson and Jameis Winston have been known for their abilities to make plays down the field, which could allow Hyatt to finally make an impact. Even though Hyatt still has two more seasons left on his rookie contract, he's likely entering the campaign that will decide the rest of his NFL career.

New York Giants' Jaxson Dart says Brian Burns opened his eyes to NFL speed
New York Giants' Jaxson Dart says Brian Burns opened his eyes to NFL speed New York Giants first-round pick Jaxson Dart is wasting no time in making his presence known to the local media and the fans. On Friday night, Dart and his fellow Giants rookies took in the Yankees-Boston Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium. He was invited on the air by the Yankees' broadcast team of Michael Kay, David Cone, and Paul O'Neill. Dart explained how he came to be a Yankees fan and even showed a picture of himself as a young boy attending a game in the Bronx in 2008. Dart said he had played baseball as a kid and was on a travel team. He believes he could have been a major league player had he not devoted himself to football. Kay asked him if his No. 2 jersey in college had anything to do with another famous No. 2, Yankees Hall of Fame shortstop, Derek Jeter. "There's some ties to that. Are some ties to that. It's kind of crazy. But yeah, that was my, you know, my favorite athlete growing up," he said. Dart went on to say that the notion of playing in New York did not intimidate him but he did notice that the NFL players are a lot quicker than he has been used to. "Oh, yeah, I had my first, you know, I don't think I've had, like, my full experience of kind of seeing that, but I've had a little experience with Brian Burns chasing me," he said. "He had a read option play and just, you know, his ability to come to come back and chase me down was kind of crazy." Dart, the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft out of Ole Miss, is heading into Giants camp the No. 3 quarterback behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston but could end up under center in a game at some point this season. "I think that when you come into a situation like this, first of all, I'm in a super special position to be able to learn from guys like Russ (Wilson), Jameis (Winston), and Tommy (DeVito), guys who have competed at the highest level," Dart said. "Russ winning the Super Bowl, and, you know, to kind of pick their brains each and every day has been awesome for me, especially for how young I am. But I think that my focus right now is to try to develop each and every day and do whatever I can to make the team better, and I just want to win. I can't stand losing, and I'm gonna do whatever it takes, to not let that happen. So whatever my role is, I'm gonna play the best way that I can."
