Emmerdale star's real-life brother sobs as they go head to head for award
Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan was seen in tears when she accepted the award for Best Young Performer at the British Soap Awards 2025.
The 16-year-old, who plays April Windsor in the ITV soap won the award for her portrayal of the character, who is the half-sister of Leo Goskirk and daughter of police officer Donna Windsor and chef Marlon Dingle.
However, Emmerdale star Amelia wasn't the only member of her family to be nominated for the award. Her brother, William Flanagan was also nominated for his portrayal of Joseph Winter-Brown on Coronation Street.
There was no sibling rivalry between the two however, as they engaged in an adorable moment as Amelia accepted her award. In an emotional moment, Amelia sobbed as she took to the stage, paying tribute to her brother in her speech.
The star and her brother broke down in tears as her name was announced, with William giving his older sister a standing ovation.
Starting her speech, Amelia, 16, paid tribute to her brother. "This means everything. I just want to say, my little brother," as the audience erupted into cheers. "Who I love so much," she continued.
Amelia went on to thank everyone at Emmerdale, before concluding with tears in her eyes: "Thank you so much, this means the world to me."
Amelia's win came after she took centre stage in a harrowing storyline earlier this year when she ran away from home after falling pregnant. April sadly suffered the loss of her baby daughter in a stillbirth, and has since been struggling to adjust to life back in the village.
Over in the cobbles, William's nomination came after a difficult time for Joseph. Last year, the character fell ill, and most recently, we've seen the character left guilt-stricken, after he pranked the emergency services.
The family affair doesn't stop there, as William and Amelia's sister Isabella Flanagan is also a soap star, starring as Hope Stape alongside Joseph in Coronation Street.
In the soap, Joseph and Hope's prank meant the ambulance could not get to injured Mason Radcliffe in time after a stabbing. Mason later died from his injuries, and Joseph was horrified and tried to report himself to the police.
Amelia and William were nominated in the category alongside EastEnders star Sonny Kendall who plays Tommy Moon, and Hollyoaks star Noah Holdsworth who plays Oscar Osborne.

William and Kate have lived in their current home in Adelaide Cottage since 2022 after they moved from Kensington Palace. It's safe to say they have had some impressive homes over they years, including a period living in Wales for one chapter of their lives. The royal couple lived on the Isle of Anglesey, or Ynys Môn, from 2010 to 2013. Nearby villages include Bodorgan, Newborough, and Malltraeth which are all nearby villages, the Express reported. Article continues below The house they stayed in was an old, white-stoned farmhouse, believed to be Prince George's first home, as Kate and William returned to Anglesey for a few weeks following his birth in London. Given that most of Anglesey is rural, with only with small villages and farms, Kate was able to carry out her daily activities without much fuss according to reports, while William was at work. She was spotted in Llangefni, purchasing dog food at the local pet shop, and in Menai Bridge, doing the weekly grocery shopping at the only Waitrose on Anglesey. Reflecting on his and Kate's time on Anglesey, Prince William shared: "This island has been our first home together, and it will always be an immensely special place for us both. Catherine and I look forward to returning again and again over the coming years with our family. "It was so isolated, so cut off, I didn't have my family around me, he was doing night shifts, so if only I'd had a centre like this at a certain time." The couple resided in Bodorgan Hall, a four-bedroom farmhouse boasting a Welsh slate roof sourced locally and numerous large windows, offering breathtaking views of the nearby sea and the Eryri mountains. The property offers the opportunity to stroll through Newborough Forest to Llanddwyn beach, and then along the sands to Llanddwyn Island, once home to Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of love. The estate is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Beauty and Environmentally Sensitive Area, largely due to its encompassing woodland and beach. It also boasts a circular dovecote, barn, expansive gardens, a lawn, and a deer park. The house was constructed between 1779 and 1782, with significant additions made in the mid-19th century. Kate and William paid a modest £750 per month in rent to Sir George Meyrick, the owner of the property and the estate on which it stands, the largest estate on Anglesey. The house comprised of two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and four bedrooms. ITV Loose Women pulled from air amid budget cuts as host begs viewers to 'get involved'
Loose Women has been removed from screens for the rest of the week with one of the hosts making a desperate plea to viewers. Loose Women has been taken off air for the rest of the week in yet another scheduling shake up for the broadcaster. The ITV chat show features a host of stars including Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Olivia Attwood discussing the hot topics of the day, and it normally airs on weekdays at lunchtimes. However, on Tuesday's episode of Loose Women, host Christine Lampard welcomed a new presenter onto the set alongside her co-stars Denise Welch, Janet Street-Porter and Jane Moore, while JoJo Siwa later appeared to open up about her relationship with Chris Hughes. Meanwhile, Lee Peart, who is a stand up comedian that has acted as the warm up act for the show's live studio audience for a number of years, was brought out on live television to present the competitions segment for that day. The role is normally covered by the likes of This Morning's Josie Gibson or Big Brother winner Kate Lawler among others and often is reported on live from various abroad locations. When Lee made his debut on the programme to let viewers know how they could be in with a chance of winning £60k, he dropped the bombshell that the Loose Women ladies will not be on screens over the coming days. Christine later confirmed his announcement which is due to the racing, the Mirror reports. He said: "Lines close on Friday and I will say, this is actually the last Loose Women of the week, so get your entry in if you want to do that!" It comes amid a series of extensive budget cuts for ITV, which will see both Loose Women and the Lorraine show being cut down to 30 weeks a year. Earlier this year, it was revealed that ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale will also be slashing their cast members in an attempt to cut costs. During the weeks that Lorraine Kelly is not on air, Good Morning Britain will run in her place from 6am to 10am. Meanwhile, This Morning will remain in its 10am to 12:30pm slot on weekdays throughout the year and Loose Women will be in the 12.30-1.30pm slot for a seasonal basis of 30 weeks too. Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, explained of the huge changes: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres. "I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams." He continued: "We will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition. "Daytime has been a core element of ITV's schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade."
