Rubrik's extension to Amazon DynamoDB provides customers with a single policy-driven console that handles backup scheduling and cross-account recovery processes. For Amazon RDS users, Rubrik is launching a proprietary cyber resilience solution, with support for PostgreSQL. Marketplace expansion The AI Agents and Tools category in AWS Marketplace functions as a unified catalogue for a variety of artificial intelligence solutions from AWS Partners. DuploCloud's inclusion in this catalogue means customers can streamline their procurement events, accessing AI solutions via their existing AWS accounts and infrastructure. According to DuploCloud, the AI Suite is designed to help organisations minimise manual DevOps tasks and automate cloud operations. The suite includes built-in security protocols to simplify DevOps management and scale cloud-based initiatives, offering customers the ability to focus resources on core software development rather than operational overheads. Agentic Help Desk and AI Studio AI Suite introduces several key components for customers. At the centre is the AI Help Desk, which leverages large language models (LLMs) alongside live infrastructure data. This tool converts user requests into executable actions, facilitating human approval and teamwork as part of agentic DevOps workflows. The suite also features an AI Studio that supports the creation and deployment of agents within containerised Kubernetes environments. These tools together allow users to automate even highly complex workflows based on written prompts. The platform executes these tasks securely, not merely suggesting actions, but taking steps towards their completion whilst retaining oversight and approval workflows for teams managing critical infrastructure. Streamlining procurement Participation in the AWS Marketplace's new AI category enables organisations to accelerate their procurement and deployment of AI technologies. By leveraging their AWS accounts, customers are able to maintain central oversight of software licenses, billing, and user permissions, reducing delays previously caused by extended vendor negotiations and multi-party evaluations for technology adoption. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced new offerings to advance the use and management of AI agents, including the introduction of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, new Marketplace solutions, and additional investment in generative AI development. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore At the centre of the update is Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, described as a comprehensive suite of services for building, deploying, and operating AI agents securely at scale. AWS states that the aim is to help organisations transition from AI agent experimentation to robust enterprise deployment, ensuring compliance with security, reliability, and governance standards. The new AgentCore platform incorporates several components. AgentCore Runtime provides secure and dynamic support for interactive and asynchronous workloads, allowing agents to operate up to eight hours, which AWS claims is the longest in the industry. Session isolation and compatibility with any framework are also highlighted features. AgentCore Memory supports both short-term and long-term memory functions for agents, aimed at enabling more context-aware responses with high accuracy. AgentCore Identity addresses authentication, allowing AI agents to securely access a range of tools and services while integrating with existing identity solutions like Amazon Cognito, Microsoft Entra ID, and Okta. AgentCore Gateway gives AI agents a means to securely discover and utilise APIs, Lambda functions, and other resources, transforming them into agent-compatible tools. Meanwhile, AgentCore Code Interpreter enables secure execution of code within sandboxed environments, offering customisability around security and computational needs. To facilitate agent interaction on the web, the AgentCore Browser Tool allows agents to navigate websites and complete forms at scale via a secure, model-agnostic cloud browser. For operational visibility, AgentCore Observability - powered by Amazon CloudWatch - provides dashboards and telemetry covering 81 metrics, supporting integration with established observability frameworks. Early adopters, including Itaú Unibanco, Innovaccer, Boomi, Epsilon, and Box, are already utilising AgentCore in developing their AI agent solutions. "It's a tectonic change in a few dimensions," said Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS VP for Agentic AI. "It upends the way software is built. It also introduces a host of new challenges to deploying and operating it, and potentially most impactfully, it changes how software interacts with the world - and how we interact with software." Marketplace expansion AWS has launched a new AI Agents and Tools category in the AWS Marketplace. This addition is intended to simplify the process for organisations seeking commercial AI agent solutions, enabling customers to discover, buy, deploy, and manage offerings from various providers through a consolidated interface. According to AWS, the Marketplace enhancements are designed to accelerate adoption by providing customers with streamlined access to professional services and pre-built tools required to build, maintain, and scale agentic systems. Generative AI investment AWS has pledged an additional $100 million to the AWS Generative AI Innovation Centre, bringing further resources to support the global push towards agentic AI systems. The centre's teams collaborate with customers and partners, focusing on productivity improvements and customer experience transformation through AI. Several AWS customers have reported practical outcomes from working with these AI offerings. Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe has developed an AI-driven solution that assists cycling commentators in rapid fact-finding. The solution utilises Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic's Claude 3.5, and over 100 AWS services. BMW has also built an AI system on AWS to streamline diagnostics for over 23 million connected vehicles. Other companies cited include Syngenta and AstraZeneca, both reporting that agentic AI has contributed to changes in their operational models. The global team supporting the Generative AI Innovation Centre comprises AI scientists, strategists, and engineers who work directly with customers to address technological challenges, especially those related to enterprise implementation and scale.

AWS brings vibe coding to the Enterprise with spec-driven Kiro IDE tool

AWS has introduced Kiro, an "agentic IDE" designed to bridge the gap between the excitement of prompt-based prototyping and the practical demands of production software. According to Kiro product lead Nikhil Swaminathan, the tool aims to bring structure, rigour and automation to the modern, AI-powered coding process. Swaminathan describes the appeal of recent AI tools, saying, "Prompt, prompt, prompt, and you have a working application. It's fun and feels like magic. But getting it to production requires more." He outlines the typical stumbling blocks: "What assumptions did the model make when building it? What edge-cases did it cover? How did it handle errors? Requirements are fuzzy and you can't tell if the application meets them." Kiro is designed to solve these problems by introducing what its creators call "spec-driven development." As the team puts it, "Kiro is great at 'vibe coding' but goes way beyond that - Kiro's strength is getting those prototypes into production systems with features such as specs and hooks." Swaminathan explains how it works: "Start with a prompt: 'Add a review system for products.' Kiro translates this into a set of user stories with EARS-style acceptance criteria." He says Kiro then generates artefacts including "a data-flow diagram, TypeScript interfaces, a database schema, and API definitions." The system's approach includes automatically specifying essential features for each user story. Swaminathan writes, "Kiro automatically includes requirements like mobile responsiveness, accessibility, loading states, and tests in the spec." Tasks are then "sequenced correctly and connected to requirements." Importantly, the specs remain in sync as the code evolves. Swaminathan notes, "Developers can author code and ask Kiro to update specs or manually update specs to refresh tasks. This solves the common problem where developers stop updating original artifacts during implementation." To automate repetitive work, Kiro introduces "agent hooks." These are "event-driven automations" that "trigger based on events like file saves or deletions." As Swaminathan puts it, "When you save a React component, hooks update the test file. When you modify API endpoints, hooks refresh README files. When you're ready to commit, security hooks scan for leaked credentials." He describes the benefit: "It's like having an experienced developer catching things you miss or completing boilerplate tasks." These hooks are also collaborative by design. Swaminathan explains, "Once this hook is committed to Git, it enforces the coding standard across my entire team - whenever anyone adds a new component, the agent automatically validates it against the guidelines." Kiro is built on top of Code OSS, meaning it is "compatible with existing VS Code settings and Open VSX plugins." It supports "Model Context Protocol (MCP)," agentic chat, and multiple context providers, including "files, URLs and document uploads." Looking ahead, Swaminathan and AWS VP of Developer Experience & Agents Deepak Singh set out an ambitious vision for Kiro. They write, "We want to tackle the root causes of pain in software development - clarity of design, alignment with requirements, technical debt, code reviews, and knowledge sharing." Kiro is available in a preview release for Mac, Windows and Linux, supporting most programming languages. Swaminathan invites developers to experience its approach: "We invite you to try Kiro and share feedback. We're just getting started, and your input will help shape the future of agentic development." By combining the "magic" of AI-powered coding with structured specs and event-driven automation, Kiro is positioning itself as a tool for developers seeking to move quickly without sacrificing discipline or reliability.
