Ex-Rockstar developer predicts GTA 7 will be cheaper due to AI; here's 4 game-changing ways GTA 6 might use AI
Obbe Vermeij, the former technical director of Rockstar North, has predicted that Rockstar Games might have to spend less on Grand Theft Auto VII as compared to GTA 6 due to the advancement in technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
However, it seems the predictions made by Vermej don't make an impact on the fans, as there is no such confirmation by Rockstar Games on the same yet, and more information is required to come to a conclusion.
Former Rockstar Games developer predicts GTA 7 may have a lower budget than GTA 6
On July 3, the ex-Rockstar Games developer participated in an interview at a YouTube channel called KIWI TALKZ, where he shared that GTA 7 might be cheaper to develop than the upcoming instalment.
He said, 'My prediction is that GTA 7 will be cheaper to make than GTA 6…we'll have to wait 15 years to see if I'm right or not.'
'I would imagine that let's say you do a cutscene, you could just, uh, you know, all the characters in the cutscene could just be rendered by an AI, including the conversation, if you just describe the scene. That could be your first pass of a cutscene,' he added.
"gta7 will be cheaper to make than gta6"I had a fun chat with @kiwitalkz that just dropped:https://t.co/fJ04ontp01
However, there is no such confirmation or statement released by Rockstar Games yet. But let's look into the 4 ways how GTA 6 could AI-in the game content.
4 ways GTA 6 could use AI for in-game content
1. Realistic radio hosts: GTA's iconic radio stations and news bulletins could be powered by AI to reflect what's happening in the game version.
2. Smarter NCP behaviour: AI can make non-playable characters (NCPs) far more realistic; instead of using pre-written dialogue, GTA 6 could employ AI-driven natural language to generate dynamic.
3. Generate buildings: AI can dynamically generate buildings and interiors in GTA 6, allowing each neighbourhood to feel unique and responsive to the player's actions or in-game events.
4. AI-generated missions and side quests: Rather than relying solely on scripted missions, AI could generate procedural missions based on the player's decisions, reputation, or location.
This could lead to an endless stream of personalised quests that feel meaningful, unpredictable, and unique to each player.

GTA 6 could support 60 fps gameplay, but only on Sony PS5 Pro: Details here
More than a year ahead of its expected launch, Grand Theft Auto VI or GTA 6 continues to generate momentum online – not just for its dual protagonists or expansive open world, but now for its potential performance benchmarks on consoles. A new video shared online has sparked fresh speculation about GTA 6 supporting 60 frames-per-second (fps) gameplay on select consoles. GTA 6 60 FPS support tied to PS5 Pro? According to a report by GizmoChina, an X (formerly Twitter) user named Detective Seeds shared that GTA 6 may run at 60 fps on the PlayStation 5 Pro. The said user claimed that Rockstar Games is working with Sony to optimise the title for the PS5 Pro, enabling higher performance across multiple graphic settings. If accurate, this would be a major shift from American video game publisher Rockstar Games' typical console strategy. Both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 launched with a 30 fps cap on consoles, with 60 fps support arriving later and only for PC. The current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to offer the standard 30 fps experience, while smoother gameplay could be exclusive to the PS5 Pro when GTA 6 releases, reportedly in May 2026. Why does it matter Sony appears to be positioning the PS5 Pro as a high-performance option, similar to Microsoft's approach with games like Forza Horizon 5, where players can toggle between quality and performance modes. If GTA 6 does ship with a 60 fps option on PS5 Pro, it would give Sony a notable edge — especially among players who prioritise frame rates. For now, Rockstar Games and Sony have not issued any official confirmation about the game's performance targets or PS5 Pro enhancements. As such, the details remain speculative based on visuals and commentary currently circulating on the web. Notably, as per Rockstar Games, GTA 6 is set to release on May 26, 2026.

Looking for Smoothest GTA 6 Experience? PS5 Pro May Be the Only Way
The waiting in anticipation of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) isn't over, with its anticipated release still one year away. But, recent revelations regarding the game's performance have created excitement among the fans. Following the release of Trailer 2 revealed details about the characters Jason and Lucia --GTA's first female protagonist, more technical details are emerging that could greatly influence your decision-making regarding a console purchase. GTA 6 will operate at 60 FPS Although previous GTA 6 60 FPS for consoles have launched at 30 frames per second The latest report suggests GTA 6 might break the trend, but exclusively on PlayStation 5 Pro GTA 6. According to leaker Detective Seeds on X (formerly Twitter), Rockstar Games is actively working with Sony to improve GTA 6 for the GTA 6 PS5 Pro which could allow 60 frames-per-second gaming on the new console. It will be the first time that a GTA title gives console gamers an experience that is comparable to high-end gaming PCs when it launches. GTA 6 gameplay PS5 Pro could offer multiple options for GTA 6 next-gen graphics, similar to what Xbox used to do when it launched Forza Horizon 5. Why not the PS5 or Xbox Series X? Surprisingly, the basic PS5 as well as Xbox Series X may not provide 60 frames per second at the time of the time of launch. Although no official confirmation has been provided by Rockstar or Sony however, this change suggests that Sony intends to give players the reason for them to increase the GTA 6 performance, expected to launch prior to the release date of GTA 6. GTA Six Themed PS5 Pro console incoming? There's also speculation of an exclusive GTA 6 frame rate, given the close relationship with Sony with the Rockstar Games GTA 6 update. While it's not confirmed, it wouldn't have been the only time that a manufacturer of consoles comes out with a themed version of their flagship model to promote an important game.
