Official: Real Madrid confirm fresh thigh injury to full-back; ruled out for 2.5 months
In yet another concerning development, Real Madrid have confirmed a fresh injury blow to defender Ferland Mendy.
'Following tests performed on our player Ferland Mendy by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a tear of the proximal rectus femoris tendon in his right quadriceps. The outcome is pending,' the club statement read.

Mendy had recently returned from a knee injury that had kept him out for more than a month.
The 29-year-old left-back returned to action only this past Saturday against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, but lasted less than ten minutes.
Now it has been confirmed that Mendy has suffered an injury in his right thigh.
He joins Antonio Rudiger on the treatment table after the German centre-back underwent surgery earlier today to address a knee injury.
Building on that, journalist Arancha Rodriguez claims that Mendy will be sidelined for a period of two and a half months.
It essentially means that Mendy will now miss the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA this summer.

This comes as a huge blow for Real Madrid, who now have Fran Garcia as the only fit natural left-back.
Eduardo Camavinga, who has been used at left-back in the past, is also ruled out for the season. However, David Alaba can be an option if needed.

Injured But In Demand: Barca Target Premier League Forward
Arsenal star targeted despite injury as Barca continue summer rebuild under Hansi Flick Injured But In Demand: Barca Target Premier League Forward Barcelona aren't done yet in the transfer market. Reports claim the Catalan giants are pushing to sign another striker this summer at the request of new coach Hansi Flick. Why New Striker Now? Despite recently signing Marcus Rashford, Roony Bardghji and Juan Garcia who all featured in 3 - 1 friendly win over Vissel Kobe, Flick reportedly remains unimpressed with the current attacking depth. According to Foot Mercato, Barcelona are seriously considering move for Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal as they continue to explore the English market after missing out on Nico Williams. Injured But Still Wanted Gabriel Jesus 28 is still recovering from cruciate ligament injury he suffered in Jan. He isn't expected to return to action before November. Yet Barca seem undeterred viewing the Brazilian as long term fit to rotate with Robert Lewandowski who turns 37 next month and is entering the final year of his contract. Transfer Value and Contract Details Transfermarkt values Jesus at 32 million euro and his deal with Arsenal runs until June 2027. But with Viktor Gyokeres now joining the Gunners, Jesus role has become uncertain especially after season limited to 7 goal and 2 assist in 27 game.

Liverpool, PSG Target Gives Tottenham Bad News Amid Real Madrid Uncertainty
Rodrygo's future at Real Madrid is uncertain following an underwhelming showing at the FIFA Club World Cup. With the transfer window now open, speculation about a potential move is gaining momentum. PSG's role in the situation remains unclear. According to Foot Mercato's Josué Cassé, the Brazilian forward is not currently a target for PSG, contradicting a report from Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, who also stated that Tottenham Hotspur are not pursuing him. Still, Plettenberg has maintained that both Liverpool and PSG are keeping a close watch on Rodrygo. PSG have shown real interest and continue to search for a top young winger, though any move will likely depend on how the market develops in the coming weeks. What's the latest on Liverpool, PSG transfer target? FlorenciaAccording to Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna, Rodrygo isn't interested in joining Tottenham, despite recent speculation. While Spurs are said to have made an inquiry, there are no active talks. If the Brazilian leaves Real Madrid, his sights are set on a club with a higher profile than Tottenham. CaughtOffside reported Saturday that Real Madrid explored a bold move to tempt Manchester City into talks—offering Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, and €40 million in exchange for Rodri. But Manchester City have no plans to part ways with one of their key players. Under new sporting director Hugo Viana, the club is working on a contract extension that would keep Rodri at the Etihad through the 2029–2030 season, hoping to lock in his long-term future and shut down any transfer speculation. Meanwhile, Diario AS recently reported that Real Madrid are now open to lowering their asking price for Rodrygo in order to facilitate a summer move. They're willing to consider offers below €90 million.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo has rejected the advances of Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur. That's according to transfer insider Santi Aouna, who has on Monday provided an insight into the situation. The name of frontman Rodrygo has of course reemerged as an altogether prominent one in the headlines across Spain and England alike over recent days. This comes after a string of reports were forthcoming, confirming serious interest in the Brazilian's services on the part of the aforementioned Tottenham. The Spurs brass are understood to have gone as far as to initiate contacts with Rodrygo's entourage, to gauge his interest in a joining of forces for next season. As alluded to above, however, if the latest update to have surfaced online on Monday evening is anything to go by, then those of a Tottenham persuasion need not get their hopes up… As per a report from journalist Santi Aouna: 'Rodrygo has no interest in joining Tottenham despite reports. Spurs made an inquiry, but there's no talk ongoing. If Rodrygo leaves Real Madrid, he's aiming for a bigger club than Tottenham.' Conor Laird – GSFN
