Egypt signs deal with UAE's AD Ports to set up logistics zone
Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone has signed a 50-year concession deal with the United Arab Emirates' Abu Dhabi Ports (AD Ports) Group to set up a 20km 2 logistics and industrial zone east of Port Said, AD Ports' managing director said in a televised address on Sunday.
AD Ports has committed $120m (R2.20bn) for initial development and feasibility studies in the first phase, which covers an area of 2.8km 2 to be developed over three years.
It will include a 1.5km quay, potentially featuring a multipurpose cargo terminal, according to a cabinet statement.
The agreement is the latest in a series of investments by AD Ports in Egypt's maritime and logistics infrastructure.
Over the last three years, AD Ports acquired Egyptian maritime companies Transmar, TCI, and Safina
AD Ports has also signed long-term concessions to develop and operate cruise terminals at the Red Sea ports of Safaga, Hurghada, Al Sokhna and Sharm El-Sheikh, and to build and operate a multipurpose port in Safaga and a Ro-Ro terminal in Al Sokhna.

Popular African destination to launch new visa-on-arrival system
Egypt, a popular African travel destination for tourists from far and wide, will be piloting a new visa-on-arrival system this June. According to Travel News , the country will launch a new digital, self-service visa-on-arrival system at Cairo International Airport starting mid-June. The new visa system will offer a number of options for travellers to obtain emergency visas upon arrival through a QR code. Visa payments will also be made electronically through self-service kiosks at the airport terminals or via a dedicated mobile app. Travellers will reportedly benefit greatly from the new system, including last-minute arrivals without visas, those with incomplete documents, or individuals who were unable to secure a visa prior to departure. Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, explained that the system will also help streamline the entry procedures for obtaining emergency visas and reduce congestion and overcrowding at airports. This new pilot program is part of the African nation's larger efforts to enhance tourist's visits, improve the efficiency of the entry process, as well as expand Egypt's capacity to accommodate higher tourist arrivals. Rulani Mokwena linked with Pyramids FC job after Krunoslav Jurcic exit rumours
Mokwena set for Pyramids job? Former Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena's name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Croatian Krunoslav Jurcic at newly crowned African champions Pyramids FC. Photo: BackpagePix According to reports, Jurcic now looks like he's on his way out, and the next man in could be Mokwena, who was recently fired by Morocco's Wydad Casablanca after an underwhelming season. The Egyptian club made history this past weekend when they became the latest team to add their name to the list of CAF Champions League winners when they beat Sundowns in Cairo. A report in The Egyptian Telegraph suggests that club bosses at the newly crowned African champions have been impressed with what Mokwena has been able to achieve at just 38 years old, and are working behind the scenes to ensure that his next port of call is in Cairo. Should Mokwena move to Egypt, it could leave his mentor Pitso Mosimane as the favourite for the Pirates job. A report in Soccer Laduma earlier this week suggested the name of Marco Rose, formerly of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. However, due to the significant amount of money the club would need to lure the German to South Africa, it's unlikely we will be seeing him in the PSL. Mandla Ncikazi, Riveiro's number two at Pirates, was put in charge of the team on an interim basis after the Spaniard's departure. There have been calls for Ncikazi, who has intimate knowledge of the current squad, to be given the job on a full-time basis. IOL Sport
