'The Legend of Zelda 'Live-Action' 'Movie Casts Its Link and Princess Zelda: Meet Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason
Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Princess Zelda and Link, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto announced on X Wednesday, July 16 "I'm already looking forward to their performances," wrote Miyamoto, who also revealed a long-awaited theatrical release date of May 7, 2027 The movie was first announced as in development back in November 2023The Legend of Zelda live-action movie has found its stars. Relative newcomers Bo Bragason (The Radleys) and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Disney's Pinocchio) will play Princess Zelda and Link, respectively, in the upcoming film, Shigeru Miyamoto announced in an X post on Wednesday, July 16, along with the movie's long-awaited release date. "I'm already looking forward to their performances," wrote Miyamoto, Nintendo's legendary video game designer and a representative director at the company, in Japanese. He added, "The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled for theatrical release on May 7, 2027. Please wait just a little longer." Wes Ball — director of the Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes —is directing the project. The movie will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Legend of Zelda film adaptation follows Sony's blockbuster hit Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is based on another legacy Nintendo franchise. Created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, The Legend of Zelda games follow a brave young hero named Link as he battles the forces of evil from the dark sorcerer Ganon to rescue Princess Zelda and protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule through the restoration of the Triforce, a sacred relic that grants power, wisdom and courage. Since the original game was released nearly 40 years ago, the series has rolled out 20 additional games, as well as several spinoffs — all typically following Link has he ventures through dungeons, solves puzzles and collects magical items to stop evil from plunging the world into darkness. The most recent additions are 2024's Echoes of Wisdom and 2023's Tears of the Kingdom, the latter a sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild. An animated TV series based on the game debuted in 1989, but only aired for a single season. Back in November 2023, Nintendo announced it was partnering with Avi Arad's Arad Productions to develop a live-action film based on the classic video-game franchise, first introduced back in 1986. Miyamoto, who will serve as producer for the movie, wrote in a post on X at the time, "I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films." "We have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production," he added. "It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it." Buzz about who might be cast as the video-game hero and heroine has been abound since the film was announced as in development, with Euphoria star Hunter Schafer as one popular suggestions for the ethereal, elfish Princess Zelda. "Obviously, that would be so cool," the 26-year-old actress and model told Entertainment Tonight in November 2023, when asked if the role was something she was interested in taking on. As for Link, Machine Gun Kelly threw his name in the ring for the lead role that same month, sharing a screengrab of an article about the movie along with his desire to star. "if I don't play Link we have a problem," the 35-year-old musician and actor, whose real name is Colson Baker, wrote in a caption on his Instagram Stories. Read the original article on People

LEGEND OF ZELDA Live-Action Movie Casts Its Link and Zelda and There's First Look Photos — GeekTyrant
Nintendo and Sony Pictures have officially revealed the stars of their highly anticipated live-action Legend of Zelda movie. Shigeru Miyamoto took to Nintendo's official X page early this morning to announce the news. 'This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,' Miyamoto wrote, alongside the first images of the actors in costume. 'I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.' Bo Bragason, a rising star best known for the cult horror flick Censor and the film The Radleys , will bring Princess Zelda to life. She's also set to appear in Prime Video's upcoming YA series Sterling Point , so expect to hear her name a lot more in the coming years. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who you might recognize from The Haunting of Bly Manor or Disney's Pinocchio , will don the green tunic as Link. The young actor has been on the industry's radar for a while, and this role could be his biggest yet. Sony announced the project back in fall 2023, confirming that it will co-finance the film with Nintendo. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball is at the helm, while Miyamoto teams up with producer Avi Arad. The latest draft of the script was written by T.S. Nowlin ( The Maze Runner ). Casting rumors have been wild for months—fans heavily pushed for Euphoria's Hunter Schafer as Zelda, and insiders say actors Mason Thames and Brady Hepner were also in the running for Link before Ainsworth snagged the role. During a previous interview, the director shared that he's looking for the movie to be both serious and whimsical: "I have this awesome idea. I've been thinking about it for a long freakin' time, of how cool a Zelda movie would be... I want to fulfill people's greatest desires.' He continued: 'I know it's important, this [Zelda] franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape. That's the thing I want to try to create – it's got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical." Ball also previously explain that the movie will be more inspired by the work of Hayao Miyazaki and less like The Lord of the Rings . Ball said: 'This awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn't like Lord of the Rings, it's its own thing. I've always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that." He went on to explain: "It's going to be awesome. My whole life has led up to this moment. I grew up on Zelda and it is the most important property, I think, that's untapped IP, if you will. 'So we very much are working hard to do something. We're not just trying to do it because we can. We want to make something really special." Ball also opened up about how important this film is to him saying: "We're working on it. I think it's gonna be great. Fans are gonna be happy. Legend of Zelda, to me, is one of the most important things ever in my life. You know, next to Star Wars." He added: 'I've played Legend of Zelda throughout my childhood into my adulthood. You know what I mean? I am a fan. I am a fellow fan. I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that it is the movie we all hope it will be." The Legend of Zelda follows the adventures of a young hero named Link, who is often tasked with rescuing Princess Zelda and battling the malevolent villain Ganon. Since debuting in 1986, The Legend of Zelda has become one of Nintendo's crown jewels, selling more than 150 million units and spawning some of the most beloved games in history, like 1998's Ocarina of Time, still considered one of the greatest games ever made. The film is scheduled to hit theaters May 7, 2027.

The Zelda Movie's Lead Actors Have Been Revealed By Nintendo
Nintendo and Miyamoto have just announced the two lead actors in 2027's live-action Zelda movie. We now know that both lead roles will be played by British actors, with Link portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio) and Bo Bragason (Three Girls) appearing as Zelda . While neither is a household name, that seems likely to change in a couple of years, given the high-profile nature of this production. Ainsworth's voiced Pinocchio in 2022's live-action Disney movie, as well as appearing in Mike Flanagan's Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor in 2020. Only 17-years-old at the time of the announcement, it gives us a good idea of the sort of Link we're going to see on film, presumably pitched as a teenage hero in the lands of Hyrule. Zelda actor Bo Bragason is four years older, now 21, best known in the UK for various dramatic roles as a teenager. She had a prominent part in last year's Disney+ series Renegade Nell as Roxy Jackson, and like Ainsworth, is a rising star rather than an established lead actor. It's fantastic that the production is taking this route, rather than leaning on star power. Shigeru Miyamoto took to the Nintendo's Japanese X account to make the announcement, saying, 'I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.' He continued in a second tweet, confirming the movie's release date, 'The film s scheduled to be released in theaters on May 7, 2027. Thank you for your patience.' The film is to be directed by Wes Bell, who previously directed the Maze Runner movies, along with last year's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Miyamoto is producing, alongside Avi Arad, best known as the former chief creative officer at Marvel. Both Nintendo and Arad Productions are behind the project, which presumably has yet to start filming. This is Nintendo's first foray into live-action cinema, following The Super Mario Bros. Movie's animated success in 2023. That film has a sequel due out next year, with The Legend of Zelda due out the year after. It also seems like a Donkey Kong animated movie is due some time as well. . For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
