Terminally ill James Whale reveals he's now in a hospice as Talk radio host says ‘I probably won't be here next week'
The 74-year-old, who has terminal cancer, spoke with a strained whisper in a short five-minute podcast from his bed and was joined by wife Nadine.

James said: "This is probably going to be our last podcast.
"I'm in a hospice. I probably won't be here next week. I'm fine. I've got so many drugs in me, I can't feel a thing."
He reassured listeners on his website that he was comfortable and being treated well. Though his voice sounded sore, James insisted that there was no pain and that it simply "wouldn't work" as it once did.
"A lot of people get really upset when someone is going to die," continued James. "I'm the person who's going to die and I'm quite relaxed about it."
The couple admitted they have been crying a lot, reading messages and voice notes from people that have praised James' contribution to their lives.
He admitted he was "very upset and worried about Nadine", but she told him that she would seek comfort in all the brilliant memories they made together, such as trips to Cornwall and Antigua, and breakfast at London's five-star Savoy hotel.
James' humour certainly hasn't deserted him.
While explaining that there is a bathtub at the hospice that he is craned in and out of, he said the staff explained how Nadine can join him if she wanted to and that the lights can be dimmed, leading him to joke: "I began to wonder what sort of place this is."
When it was time to say goodbye for a final time, James said to Nadine: "We've had the best time together haven't we. I love you."
He added: "Thank you for being a listener I hope it helps in some way. Who knows what is next so I can only say au revoir."
James Whale reveals he's got weeks to live in emotional update on cancer battle, saying 'I spend a lot of time crying'
James has been courageously battling stage 4 kidney cancer since 2020.
He and Nadine, who James has been married to since 2021, have been keeping his fans up to date with his health on his Tales of the Whales podcast.
In his previous upload, James told how he was struggling to breathe, talk and think - and couldn't hear very well.
He also admitted his speech has become very slow and he is forgetful, while suffering with painful pressure sores.
On the emotional recording, he said: "The most tiring thing I found… I still can't hear very well, which is more frustrating than anything else.
"I've become very slow in my speech and then forgetful and everything else."
Talking about his sores, he said: 'I'm tootling along, which is all you can do really, trying to get my breathing sorted and the mark on my bum.'
He humbly asked: "People have to go through a lot worse, don't they? Do they?"
The poignant conversation concluded: "Anyway. I don't feel I can go on much more...
"The other thing is, my energy levels have gone completely.
"So I wish everybody well, and let us hope we go through these phases as quickly as we can."
The star recently celebrated his "last birthday" surrounded by loved ones after stopping his cancer treatment.
Back in May, the TALK radio host revealed his long-running programme could be coming to an end as he reached the final stage of his battle.
One of the country's most revered radio personalities, James has been in the business for 50 years and, in 2023, received the first ever TRIC Recognition Award for his outstanding work.
He's helped countless others too, having launched the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer in 2006 - now known as Kidney Cancer UK - the nation's leading specialist charity of its kind, after beating the illness two decades ago.

Tesco shoppers discover 'MIRACLE in a bottle' hair spray that rivals Color Wow for just £5: 'Tackles the frizz and leaves hair smooth!'
Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more Beauty lovers are going wild after Tesco dropped a £5 alternative for the viral Color Wow Dream Coat – and the reviews are glowing. Shiny, frizz-free hair has long been the holy grail of celebrity beauty. Look at Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and even Claudia Winkleman or the endless 'glass hair' videos trending on TikTok. Leo Bancroft Wonder Coat Spray 150ml Using heat-activated polymer technology, the spray is said to create an invisible waterproof shield to repel humidity and lock in sleekness, making it a perfect choice for those with frizz-prone locks. Plus, it also doubles up as a heat protectant and shine booster. £5 (£3.50 Clubcard Price) Shop Now, Tesco has come through with a 'game-changing' product promising silky smooth strands in mere minutes and without the hefty price tag. Introducing Leo Bancroft's Wonder Coat Spray, a £5 hair mist designed to deliver professional-quality results at home. Normally priced at just £5, it's currently on offer for £3.50 with a Tesco Clubcard until August 5 - that's a massive saving of £23.50 compared to Color Wow's £27 arrangement. The brain behind the budget haircare range is none other than Leo Bancroft, award-winning celebrity stylist and TV favourite. His new Tesco-exclusive haircare line includes shampoos, conditioners and treatments tailored to every hair type, from curl creams to glossing masks, all under £10. But it's the Miracle Wonder Coat Spray stealing the spotlight as a solution for sleek strands, with fans calling it 'a total game-changer'. Using heat-activated polymer technology, the spray is said to create an invisible waterproof shield to repel humidity and lock in sleekness, making it a perfect choice for those with frizz-prone locks. Plus, it also doubles up as a heat protectant and shine booster. And it's already proving popular with Tesco shoppers who have given it a near-perfect 4.9-star rating. 'Frizz-Free Shine in Seconds!' wrote one reviewer. 'I've been using the Leo Bancroft Wonder Coat Smoothing Spray and it's amazing! 'It tames frizz instantly and leaves my hair looking sleek and shiny without feeling greasy. Perfect for quick touch-ups or before styling.' 'I love how this spray smooths my hair and reduces frizz instantly,' a second shopper wrote. 'It gives a soft, sleek finish without feeling heavy or greasy.' 'Excellent product, does exactly what it says on the bottle, my hair is only ever this smooth after a visit to a salon. Salon quality at home!' another shopper raved. A fourth agreed, writing: ' Miracle in a bottle. Such a fantastic little spray, used it for the first time and already can see, which a noticeable difference in my wild hair.' Curious if the hype matched the results, I put it to the test. Straight off the bat, it couldn't be easier to use. After sectioning my damp hair and blow-drying with my trusty Dyson Supersonic, the effects were instant: serious shine, little to no frizz - especially at the crown, where my fine strands usually misbehave - and that just-left-the-salon finish. But best of all? I didn't have to follow with straighteners to see the effects, unlike with similar smoothing treatments. All it took was the Miracle Wonder Coat Spray, a brush, and a hair dryer. Nor did it leave my hair feeling sticky or heavy - even after a few generous spritzes. The scent is subtle (and does fade slightly throughout the day), but the shine and smoothness? It stuck around all day long. I wash my hair often since it's so fine and gets greasy fast, so I can't speak for its effect past 24 hours. But by day two, even after a restless night, my hair still looked noticeably smoother than usual. The hype? It's absolutely warranted. For a fiver, it actually delivers. If you're after a budget-friendly smoothing treatment to add polish and shine on a budget, Leo Bancroft's Wonder Coat Spray, £5, could be your new go-to.

The mammoth £5M house renovation project in upmarket Hampstead that 'shocked' Cat Deeley before she split from Patrick Kielty after 12 years of marriage
They announced they had split after 12 years of marriage on Tuesday. But Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty happily purchased a 'forever home'. in 2023 - a derelict 1950s house in Hampstead, north London which set them back £5million. But with Patrick working in Ireland and Cat fronting This Morning in London, the project might have led the marriage to breaking point as Cat previously admitted to feeling 'shocked' by the magnitude of the process. Cat previously documented the journey on social media, candidly sharing with fans the hidden stresses that can come with a huge renovation. In a video from February 2024, Cat admitted: 'I'm not going to lie, I got a bit of a shock today. Not much house, lots of air.' Sources told Daily Mail the couple's renovation plans put 'additional stress' on the couple's marriage. Cat has documented the journey on social media, candidly sharing with fans the hidden stresses that can come with a huge renovation (pictured) Cat documented how the 1950s property was stripped back, with ambitions to create a grand entrance hall, demolish a living room mezzanine floor and extend the bedrooms and terrace. The five-bedroom home is also said to have a 'nanny suite', guest room, his and hers dressing rooms, a bar, snug and children's play area planned, while the existing garage will be converted into a 'boot room' and office. After Cat and Patrick bought the house, photos submitted as part of their planning application showed plaster peeling off the walls. Bedrooms were described as being in a 'very poor' state while many of the finishes were described as being broken or torn out by previous owners. The Grand Designs-style makeover hoped to see their 'disjointed' and 'awkward' dwelling turned into an ultra-modern dream home. The house was built on a steep slope in 'an inverted arrangement' with living rooms on the upper floor and bedrooms at garden level. They also applied for permission to build an external staircase, roof-lights and a new car port, front garden and gate. In a design statement, their architect said: 'The proposed external appearance builds on the inherent character of the existing house but updates it into a contemporary dwelling both in use and character. 'It is inspired by mid-twentieth design ranging from the designs of Alvar Aalto to houses of the west coast of America which are familiar to the clients who spent many years living there. 'Materials have also been introduced that connect the clients to their previous home in LA and to places that have significant memories for them. 'The design remodels a 1950 brick and concrete house with new and rear extensions, extensive internal alterations, adjustments to the blade roof form to bring natural light into the heart of the house.' Previous planning applications by former owners proposed the demolition of the property and a new home built instead. But the couple's planning agent said: 'The existing dwelling has some many positive qualities which the owners wish to build on and strengthen. There are other aspects of the existing house which need improving. 'It has been unoccupied for many years and is in a poor state of repair. The internal layout of the house and split levels makes the house feel disjointed and awkward at times. It is very dark in the centre of the house on both floors. 'The brief from the client is to improve the internal layout of the house which is currently very fragmented and non-functional, through some internal alterations. 'The proposal is to keep the principal character and identity of the existing house, to renovate, extend and upgrade the fabric along with internal alterations to reflect modern day family living.' Designs for Cat and Patrick's luxury living room, complete with fireplace Confirming their split in a joint statement, on Tuesday they said: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.' Cat and Patrick first met in 2002 while they hosted BBC talent show Fame Academy, however sparks didn't fly between the couple until 10 years later. After being friends for years, their friendship turned to romance thanks to his major gesture when he flew all the way from Belfast to Los Angeles for brunch with Cat. Since 2023, Kielty has maintained a gruelling schedule, commuting to Dublin to present The Late Late Show while also hosting Saturday mornings on Radio 5 Live. The couple lived in California for over 14 years as she presented So You Think You Can Dance but they put their Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $4.9 million (£3.8 million). They moved back to North London in 2020, prior to Cat securing her job at This Morning amid fears of gun violence following an incident in which Patrick had to hide from a gunman in a Los Angeles mall.
