Jenna Bush Hager reacts to prom date prank in viral TikTok trend
TODAY show host Jenna Bush Hager is
the latest victim
of the "I'm so hungry I could eat" prank that's been making waves on social media. The prank involves mentioning a random person
from the person's past
.
Julia Plant, Jenna's assistant, captured the host of With Jenna & Friends
reacting to a joke
that included her high school prom date's name.
"God, I'm so hungry I could eat Richard Gentry,"
Plant said in a TikTok video posted on April 24
. "Who's Richard Gentry? My prom date," Jenna asked, grinning broadly.

The video, which shows Jenna's assistant laughing and Jenna asking follow-up questions, has garnered over 550,000 views. It's part of a larger TikTok trend where people play detective, finding a random person from their past to include in their joke.

The format is consistent: the person filming starts by expressing their hunger, then says "I'm so hungry I could eat ...," adding the name of the random person they've dug up from the other person's past.
The names can range from an old high school crush to a coworker from several jobs ago. The reactions of people hearing a name they didn't expect the other person to know are causing quite a stir on social media.
Penn Badgley, star of Netflix's "You," was among the many who fell prey to this prank on TikTok. "I'm so hungry I feel like I could eat Jeff McGhee," a Podcrushed employee told Badgley in a TikTok posted on April 24, referring to one of the actor's childhood friends.
Numerous other individuals have been pranked, and the reactions are all equally as hilarious, including a dad hearing his child could eat someone he found in his high school yearbook.
Hager has always had a knack for humor. During another recent episode Hager was joined by guest cohost Tiffany Haddish on Thursday.
During the episode, Jenna was busy introducing Tiffany, to viewers when the actress accidentally bumped into a small table that was on stage next to the big table that the cohosts sit at.
"Grammy winner, what else are you," the former first daughter asked before the table went crashing to the ground. "Clumsy, I'm clumsy. That's what I definitely am," Haddish said. Both women shared a laugh at the moment.

From Sylvia Plath to Donna Tartt: 5 trending books you'll find in every It girl's tote bag
'A Secret History' by Donna Tartt Above 'The Secret History' by Donna Tart (Photo: Ivy Books) Intellectually elite, morally ambiguous and cloaked in a mist of fatalism, A Secret History offers the kind of heady narrative that It girls are known to gravitate toward. Tartt's tale of a group of eccentric classics students who commit murder and try to rationalise it through philosophy reads like The Talented Mr. Ripley set in New England academia. The book, a trending fixture since TikTok revived it, explores the seduction of aesthetics and ideas taken to extremes. With its gothic sensibility, Greco-Roman references and quietly sinister tone, it's no surprise this novel has earned a spot on the bookshelves of fashion insiders, models and artists. Tartt's characters are cold and brilliant—qualities often projected onto the modern It girl, for better or worse. 'Slouching Towards Bethlehem' by Joan Didion Above 'Slouching Towards Bethlehem' by Joan Didion (Photo: Farrar, Straus and Giroux) Few writers have the cultural currency of the infinitely cool Joan Didion, and Slouching Towards Bethlehem remains her most iconic work. A master of restraint and razor-sharp observation, Didion captures the fragmentation of 1960s America with dispassionate clarity. Her essays blend memoir and reportage, revealing a mind endlessly attuned to chaos beneath surface order. For the It girl who prizes intellect and quiet detachment, Didion offers an ideal model: fiercely articulate, enigmatic and impossible to imitate. The book's understated black-and-white covers and clean typography make it a favourite among minimalist tastemakers. More than a trending book, it's a blueprint for cool-headed self-possession. 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith Above 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith (Photo: Ecco) Patti Smith's Just Kids is a memoir of bohemian life in 1970s New York, chronicling her artistic partnership with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. It's romantic but not naïve, poetic without being precious. Smith details their rise from poverty to art-world prominence with an earnestness that's oddly radical in the age of irony. The It girl reader finds resonance in Smith's early hunger—for beauty, for expression, for significance—and in her resilience amid chaos. Unlike the curated intimacy of influencers, Smith's vulnerability feels unfiltered. It's a book that doesn't ask for admiration, only attention, and that's precisely what makes it an enduring favourite. 'My Year of Rest and Relaxation' by Ottessa Moshfegh Above 'My Year of Rest and Relaxation' by Ottessa Moshfegh (Photo: Penguin Press) On the surface, Ottessa Moshfegh's My Year of Rest and Relaxation might look like satire for the hyper-privileged. A beautiful young woman, numb with grief and aimlessness, attempts to medicate herself into oblivion by sleeping through a year in Manhattan. But beneath its absurd premise is a biting critique of self-optimisation, consumer culture and the fetishisation of wellness. The protagonist is unlikeable, opaque and often hilariously cruel—yet her disillusionment feels cuttingly relevant. With its minimalist cover and sardonic voice, this trending book has become a kind of anti-self-help bible for the It girl who is sceptical of overexposure and allergic to performative healing. These titles share more than just shelf appeal. Each explores identity, alienation or the tension between public persona and private self—territory that It girls know intimately. Whether it's Plath's portrayal of suffocating expectations, Tartt's intoxicating intellectualism or Moshfegh's elegant nihilism, these trending books offer a mirror to women living under constant observation. They are aesthetically spare yet emotionally intense, rich with complexity but never overwrought. In a world obsessed with content, women for literature that asks more of her and gives something back.

Preston Ordone appeared in a final TikTok (Image: @kate_ordone/tiktok) Preston seemed puzzled and pointed to his sister, suggesting, "You can eat Paisley Anne. Eat Paisley Anne. That's so mean." Katelynn captioned the video, "Idek what I expected but this wasn't it," accompanied by two crying laughing emojis. Fans have flooded the comments with tributes to Preston, with one expressing, "This is truly heartbreaking rest easy okay baby." Another said, "I'm still searching through the comments to hear someone say its not true sigh," while a third fan added, "Rest in peace baby Preston! You touched so many lives with your bright light. Praying that God comforts this family during this hard time." The tragic car accident happened on April 24 just before 11.50 a. m. on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. Preston died in the crash, which happened after his family were returning from a doctor's appointment. Louisiana State Police alleged that Preston was "improperly restrained" in his child safety seat during the crash, as mentioned in their Facebook update. They are conducting further inquiries into the incident, including a routine toxicology test on the driver. The police emphasized in their statement, "Louisiana law requires all occupants, regardless of seating position, to be properly restrained at all times. The proper use of seat belts and child safety seats can be the difference between life and death. Ensuring correct installation and usage of car seats and booster seats is critical to preventing injuries and saving lives." However, Preston's grandfather Glen Norris has disputed the police's claims. In an emotional conversation with Nola, Norris recounted that an eyewitness at the scene assured him Preston was indeed properly buckled up when rescued from the vehicle. Glen confessed to feeling "numb" upon receiving the devastating news of his grandson's passing and described police comments as "hurtful and painful." "Katelynn and the family has asked us to make a video to update you guys. Katelynn, Jaelyn, and Preston were involved in an accident. Paisley - you guys know Paisley - she was at school at the time. She was not in the vehicle," they revealed in the video. They went on to say, "Their truck veered to the right off the interstate and struck a tree and unfortunately Preston didn't make it. Katelynn and Jaelyn are severely injured. Katelynn has multiple broken bones. She had a very bad concussion. She walked for the first time today. Jaelen had to have emergency surgery on one of his legs. He has rods in him, pins in them, and they are both at different hospitals." The video ended with, "I just want to explain that Preston had made a huge impact on all of you guys. He made people smile, laugh, and I know you guys look forward to seeing him every day. And I know in heaven right now, if there's mud in heaven, he's probably found it and is jumping and dancing in it, running up and down the streets of gold in his overalls. He probably has golden overalls. We're going to miss him a lot." For the latest local news and features on Irish America, visit our homepage here .
