Mohanlal, Kunchacko Boban Rejoin Sri Lanka Shoot Of Mammootty, Nayanthara Film
The shoot of Mahesh Narayanan's big-budget action-drama, featuring Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, and Nayanthara, has resumed in Sri Lanka after a break.
After a brief pause, the Sri Lanka schedule of director Mahesh Narayanan's ambitious action-drama is back on. With an ensemble cast featuring Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, and Kunchacko Boban, the big-budget Malayalam film is one of the most anticipated projects currently in production.
The ongoing leg of the shoot focuses on scenes involving Mohanlal and Kunchacko Boban, and is expected to wrap up within 10 days. The film initially began shooting in late 2023 with Mammootty and Mohanlal. Although Kunchacko Boban was present at the time, he didn't shoot any scenes during that schedule.
Mammootty, who headlines the project, had temporarily stepped away from filming due to health reasons. However, he's slated to rejoin the set soon to complete his portions. Despite the shift in scheduling, production never came to a complete halt thanks in part to Kunchacko Boban's commitment. The actor reportedly exited the film Baby Girl, in which he was later replaced by Nivin Pauly, to ensure he could focus on the Mahesh Narayanan film.
Speaking earlier to OTTplay, Kunchacko had shared his excitement about collaborating with industry legends. 'I get to spend time with two men (Mammootty and Mohanlal), whom I have idolised. I am thrilled to be part of this film," he said. The last time the trio appeared together on screen was in Harikrishnans.
As for Mohanlal, he has a packed schedule. He will appear next in Kannappa alongside Prabhas and Akshay Kumar and is also set to make a cameo in Dileep's Bha. Bha. Bha. Rumours suggest he may also join director Amal Neerad's upcoming film, which stars Soubin Shahir.
Meanwhile, Mammootty has already made waves this year with Bazooka and Dominic and the Ladies' Purse. He is gearing up for Kalamkaval, in which he reportedly plays a serial killer.
Mahesh Narayanan's yet-untitled film is expected to hit theatres by late 2025, with industry insiders predicting it could become one of the biggest box office hits of the year—on par with recent blockbusters like L2: Empuraan and Thudarum.

Imtiaz Ali defends Shah Rukh Khan's National Award win for Jawan: 'If the country has honoured him...'
In response to the controversy surrounding Shah Rukh Khan's recent National Award win for the movie "Jawan," filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has publicly defended the actor, telling IANS that it was a proud moment while speaking on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai. 'No, no. If the country has honoured him, it's obviously a big thing. I would like to congratulate Shah Rukh Khan and all the people who got this big award. Thank you," he stated, sending his best wishes to each and every recipient. Shah Rukh Khan's performance in the movie "Jawan" earned him his first National Award for Best Actor on August 1. Urvashi, a South actress, started the controversy by quietly casting doubt on SRK's National Award victory. Urvashi pointed to the jury's unfair decisions while accepting the Best Supporting Actress award for "Ullozhukku." She allegedly questioned what made Jawan deserving of Best Actor honors, without specifically mentioning Shah Rukh, while veteran Malayalam actor Vijayaraghavan's stirring performance wasn't even taken into consideration for the lead category. Online discussion was sparked by her comments. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They were so beautiful before; look at them now; number 10 will Surprise you Undo However, some internet users were shocked to understand that Shah Rukh Khan had won the National Award for "Jawan," wondering why it had taken him 33 years to receive this honor. Many noted that he was not given credit for some of his most famous roles in movies like "Devdas," "Swades," "Veer Zaara," and "Chak De! India." The actor's victory generated discussion regarding the jury's selection criteria and timing. Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna defended Shah Rukh Khan in the face of increasing criticism over the actor's National Award victory. "People who are saying that Shah Rukh Khan should not have received the award for this film (Jawan) but for Swades—remember A. R. Rahman received the Oscar for 'Jai Ho' and not for the various beautiful songs he created in the past," he informed IANS. "Shah Rukh has been working hard for the past 40 years now—so what is wrong if he has received a National Award?"
