Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman, Big Little Lies), Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction, Desperately Seeking Susan), and Trew Mullen (Blink Twice) have joined the cast of the Charli XCX-led and produced the movie "The Moment" from A24.
The mockumentary pic follows the life of a pop star in the lead-up to her first headline arena tour. The Moment gives an inside look at the inner workings of the music industry and explores how subculture is mutated by commercial success.
Skarsgård is said to be playing a fashionable European creative, Arquette as a record label boss, and Mullen as XCX's personal assistant.
Aidan Zamirim, who co-wrote the script with Bertie Brandes, will make his directorial debut. A.G. Cook will serve as the dark comedy's composer.
David Hinojosa is producing through his production company 2AM for A24. Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright, and Zach Nutman are executive producing.
Emmy Award-winner Skarsgard will next appear in the Apple TV+ series "Murderbot", premiering on May 16. He will portray the titular sentient security android.
In December, he surprised fans of his popular HBO series "True Blood" by bringing back his character Eric Northman in the final season of FX's comedy series "What We Do in the Shadows". Other notable credits include "The Northman", "Lee", "Godzilla vs. Kong", "Zoolander", and "The Legend of Tarzan" on the big screen and TV, HBO's "Big Little Lies", for which he received an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Prime Video's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", and HBO's "Succession".
Arquette is best known for starring in multiple fan-favorite projects on the big and small screen including Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction", "Desperately Seeking Susan", opposite Madonna, and the Griffin Dunne-led "After Hours", to name a few. Her recent credits include Apple's "Presumed Innocent", Netflix's "Florida Man", and ABC's "Big Sky".
Mullen broke out with her role as Heather in Zoë Kravitz's cult hit directorial debut "Blink Twice" for Amazon/MGM, opposite Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie, Simon Rex, Haley Joel Osmont, Christian Slater, and Alia Shawkat.

Nicole Kidman to Star in TV Series "Girls and Their Horses"

Yara Sameh Nicole Kidman is set to star in and executive produce a series adaptation of the Eliza Jane Brazier novel 'Girls and Their Horses'. The project is currently in development and will be co-produced by Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video. Brazier will write the pilot and executive produce. Jenna Lamia will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Kidman will executive produce along with Per Saari under their Blossom Films banner. 'Girls and Their Horses' marks a reunion for Kidman and Lamia. Lamia previously developed and showran the hit Netflix series 'The Perfect Couple,' based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand, in which Kidman starred and executive produced. The official logline for 'Girls and Their Horses' reads, 'A murder-mystery set in the beachside equestrian community of Rancho Santa Fe, California, 'Girls and Their Horses' follows the newly wealthy Parker family as they aim to position their teenage daughters in the rarified, sometimes-deadly world of competitive horse riding.' Should it move forward, this would mark the latest series role for Kidman, who has quickly become the hardest working actress in television. In addition to 'The Perfect Couple,' she has starred in the shows 'Big Little Lies,' 'Top of the Lake: China Girl,' 'The Undoing,' 'Nine Perfect Strangers,' 'Lioness,' and 'Expats' since 2017. The second season of 'Nine Perfect Strangers' recently debuted, while Kidman is also attached to star in the shows 'Scarpetta' at Prime Video and 'Margo's Got Money Troubles' at Apple TV+. She also has a stellar film career, for which she has received five Oscar nominations with one win. Her recent film credits include 'The Northman,' 'Babygirl,' 'A Family Affair,' and 'Being the Ricardos.' In addition to 'Girls and Their Horses,' Brazier is also the author of the books 'If I Disappear' and 'Good Rich People,' both of which she is currently adapting for TV. The former is set up at 20th Television, while the latter is at MRC. She is also working on a feature screenplay based on her novel 'It Had to Be You' at Sony. This is the latest collaboration between Legendary TV and Amazon MGM Studios in recent weeks. It was reported back in April that Legendary's 'Pacific Rim' TV series is now set up at Amazon, while the two studios, along with Pacesetter Productions, have struck a deal to develop a series based G. Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" Gets an Anime Adaptation

Yara Sameh The Death Stranding universe is expanding. Hideo Kojima, the famed video game developer behind the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise, announced that his latest independent video game series is receiving an anime adaptation. In an interview with Vogue Japan , Kojima discussed the development of "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach", which continues the journey of Sam Porter Bridges, as played by The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus. While talking about his ambitions for the live-action film adaptation by A24, Kojima also confirmed that an anime version was also in production. "I am aiming to make Death Stranding in a way that can only be done as a film," he noted, "and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation." In September 2024, Kojima confirmed that multiple projects based on the Death Stranding franchise were in the works, following the announcement of the live-action movie. "There are several Death Stranding adaptation projects currently underway, but there is a different story I've written that's intended for a movie," he said. "But I don't have the time to direct it, so I won't. Which is kind of like a test for the third phase. I'm in the second phase now and expanding the IP I made in all sorts of directions." In April 2025, Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker behind "A Quiet Place: Day One", was confirmed as the official director for the live-action adaptation of "Death Stranding", which is being produced by Kojima Productions and indie film studio A24. Sarnoski is writing and directing the movie, which will reportedly delve deep into the "game's mysteries surrounding the 'Death Stranding' — a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead." In the Vogue Japan interview, Kojima explained his vision for the live-action adaptation of "Death Stranding": "When it comes to film adaptations of games, there have been recent films like The Last of Us that keep the plot of the original intact, and films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie that are more like a service to game fans. Each of these works has its own merits, but as a film lover, I want to pursue expression as a film. I am aiming to make Death Stranding in a way that can only be done as a film, and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival." "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach" is scheduled for release on June 26, for the PlayStation 5.
