Would have expelled Vijay Shah for life had he been in my party: LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan
On the other hand, the Supreme Court has taken a strong exception of Shah's statement. However, BJP is yet to take any disciplinary action against the party leader.
Chirag called on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar at 1 Anne Marg residence to discuss development of the state ahead of assembly elections.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of inauguration of two-day 'International Buyer Seller Meet', Chirag said that there is no vacancy for chief minister's post in Bihar as incumbent CM Nitish Kumar will lead the NDA even after the 2025 assembly elections.
Assembly elections in the state are slated to be held in October-November. Chirag made this remark while talking to media persons in Darbhanga after calling on chief minister earlier at his 1 Anne Marg residence in the state capital. He also shared a photo with Nitish on his social media account.
During the meeting, which last for about half an hour, the two leaders discussed about state's development and NDA's strategy for the upcoming assembly elections.
The meeting with JD(U) supremo two days after executive committee meeting of LJP(RV) assumed significance as assembly elections are due later this year.

Centre introduces bills for removal of PM, CMs and ministers held on serious criminal charges
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha that propose the automatic removal of the prime minister, chief ministers and ministers who are 'arrested and detained in custody on account of serious criminal charges'. The three bills are the Constitution 130th Amendment Bill, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Amendment Bill and the Government of Union Territories Amendment Bill. The bills allow for the removal of the prime minister, and chief ministers and ministers of Union Territories or states arrested for 30 consecutive days on the charges of committing an offence punishable with imprisonment for five years or more, The Hindu reported. The removal would come into effect from the 31st day of their arrest and detention, as per the bills. The arrested minister could be reinstated once they are released from custody. Shah said that he will request the bills to be sent to a joint parliamentary committee for scrutiny. The committee has MPs from all parties. On Tuesday, Shah had indicated to the Lok Sabha Secretariat that the bills would be passed in the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, The Hindu reported. The statement of objects and reasons of the Constitution 130th Amendment Bill submitted by Shah was circulated among Lok Sabha MPs on Tuesday, the newspaper reported. It said that elected representatives represent hopes and aspirations of the residents, adding that it is expected that they rise above political interests and act only in public interest. 'It is expected that the character and conduct of ministers holding the office should be beyond any ray of suspicion,' The Hindu quoted the statement of objects and reasons as saying. A minister facing allegations of serious criminal offences, who has been arrested, 'may thwart or hinder the canons of constitutional morality and principles of good governance and eventually diminish the constitutional trust reposed' by the public in him or her, it added. The statement of objects and reasons said that currently there is no constitutional provision to remove a minister who has been arrested on account of serious criminal charges. Therefore, there is a need to amend Article 75, Article 164 and Article 239AA of the Constitution to provide a legal framework for the removal in such cases. Article 75 of the Constitution outlines the provisions related to the prime minister and the Council of Ministers. Article 164 lists provisions related to the appointment and functioning of the Council of Ministers in a state. Article 239AA relates to the special provisions for the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Amendment Bill and the Government of Union Territories Amendment Bill lay out the process of removal of the chief minister and ministers in Jammu and Kashmir, and Puducherry.

NCERT introduces two supplementary modules on Operation Sindoor for Class 3 to Class 12
The National Council of Educational Research and Training on Tuesday introduced two new supplementary modules on Operation Sindoor for students from Class 3 to Class 12, The Indian Express reported. These modules are not part of the standard textbooks but are meant to be used as additional resources. The NCERT is an educational body that advises the Union government on school syllabi. The modules claim that the terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam was 'directly ordered by Pakistan's military and political leadership', which in turn prompted the Indian Armed forces to launch Operation Sindoor. The modules further add that the Indian Air Force 'took out command and control centres, radars, surface-to-air guided weapons, runways, and hangars with aircraft' during Operation Sindoor, breaching Pakistan's air defence and 'creating visible gaps that the world saw'. The passages also note that the name 'Operation Sindoor' was given as a mark of respect for the widows of those killed in the April 22 terror attack, ANI reported. The two modules are titled 'Operation Sindoor - A Saga of Valour' for students in Class 3 to Class 8 and 'Operation Sindoor - A Mission of Honour and Bravery' for students in Class 9 to Class 12. In May, the Uttarakhand Madarsa Education Board had said that it would include Operation Sindoor in the state's madrasa curriculum. Tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad escalated on May 7 when the Indian military carried out strikes – codenamed Operation Sindoor – on what it claimed were terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes were in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which killed 26 persons on April 22. The Pakistan Army retaliated to Indian strikes by repeatedly shelling Indian villages along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. At least 22 Indian civilians and eight defence personnel were killed in the shelling. India and Pakistan on May 10 reached an 'understanding' to halt firing following the four-day conflict.

NCERT Introduces Operation Sindoor in School Curriculum for Classes 3–12
The NCERT has added new study material on Operation Sindoor for students from Classes 3 to 12. For Classes 3 to 8, the module is called 'Operation Sindoor – A Saga of Valour.' For Classes 9 to 12, it is called 'Operation Sindoor – A Mission of Honour and Bravery.' The modules explain that the Pahalgam terror attack was planned with support from Pakistan. In reply, on May 7, 2025, India launched missile and air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK. Out of nine selected targets, seven camps were destroyed by the Army, while the Air Force hit major bases in Muridke and Bahawalpur linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The lessons highlight that only terror sites were attacked and that India showed it would not allow terrorists to escape punishment.
