What Kaizer Chiefs want to win this season
Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has opened up about the club's goals for the 2025/26 season, making it clear that Amakhosi are not settling for anything less than silverware. The Glamour Boys have had a perfect start to the Betway Premiership, winning three of the opening matches: 2-0 at Stellenbosch FC, 1-0 against Polokwane City FC and 1-0 over Richards Bay. With nine points on the board, Kaizer Chiefs are sitting first on the league table and eager to improve on last season's ninth-place finish. Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Three signings Ben Youssef, who has been leading the team alongside second assistant Cedric Kaze while head coach Nasreddine Nabi is away on family leave, emphasised that Kaizer Chiefs are focused on competing for every trophy. 'To be honest with you, we don't have any pressure; we take it game by game, but we are a big team, and every competition we play in, we must win that competition,' Ben Youssef said. Our targets are clear, we are Kaizer Chiefs, we are not here to be in the middle of the table or just to enjoy. 'So we are here to win all the titles, but we as a club don't want to be under pressure. We won our first two games, and there are still 28 games left, and we must win every competition we play in,' the Tunisian mentor concluded. PSL LOG: Kaizer Chiefs denied top spot despite win, Pirates remain bottom
Gaston Sirino's second-half strike was enough to give Kaizer Chiefs their third league win, keeping them second on the Betway Premiership log. Amakhosi came into the match having won two of their opening league games and were hoping for an emphatic win to climb to the top of the log. With leaders Durban City dropping points, it seemed as if Chiefs would go top, but Sekhukhune United's 3-0 win over Orbit College saw them top the Betway Premiership after three matches. Babina Noko lost 2-0 to Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final first leg on Saturday, but Eric Tinkler's men will feel confident after a dominant win over new boys Orbit. Having accumulated nine points from three matches, Chiefs appear to be in the race for the league title. It is the first time since 2019/20 season that the Glamour Boys have had a flying start to their league campaign. Rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have dropped points this season, but many are expecting the two teams to catch up soon rather than later. Both teams are in action on Wednesday and will look to close the gap. Kaizer Chiefs have not won the league in 10 years however they came close in 2020 after topping the log for over 12 months but ultimately threw it away on the last match.
