Paramount Pictures has released the much-anticipated trailer for the upcoming reboot of the classic comedy Naked Gun, set for release on August 1. The film, a modern take on the beloved 1980s franchise, stars Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the original bumbling detective Frank Drebin, portrayed by the late Leslie Nielsen. In this reimagined version of the iconic film series, Neeson's character follows in his father's comedic footsteps, bringing his own brand of misadventure and slapstick humour to the screen.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer, known for his work on Saturday Night Live and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, the film promises to deliver the same absurd and chaotic comedy that made the original Naked Gun series a fan favourite.
The star-studded cast also includes Pamela Anderson, who is returning to the spotlight as part of the film's ensemble, as well as Paul Walter Hauser, who plays the son of Captain Ed Hocken (George Kennedy) from the original films.
Other cast members include CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Danny Huston, with additional appearances from Eddie Yu.
Written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Schaffer, the new 'Naked Gun' film promises to stay true to the slapstick style of its predecessors.
The original trilogy, which reportedly grossed over USD 216 million worldwide, was known for its zany humour, outlandish gags, and the unforgettable character of Frank Drebin, a bumbling police detective who consistently found himself in outlandish situations.
The franchise, which began with The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! in 1988, also spawned two sequels: The Naked Gun 2 1/2 : The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33 1/3 : The Final Insult (1994).
Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guyand producer of Ted, serves as a producer for the reboot, bringing his sharp comedic sensibilities to the project.
With Schaffer at the helm, audiences can expect a mix of absurd humour and a fast-paced, visual gag-filled narrative mirroring the charm of the original films. (ANI)

War 2 Day 7 India Box Office: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani's movie falls off; Adds Rs 6.75 crore gross on 1st Wednesday

War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani among others, dropped big on its first Wednesday in India. After a slight uptick in collections on Tuesday due to the discount offers, the movie dropped steeply on Wednesday, grossing just Rs 6.75 crore. Most of the collections have come from the Hindi version. The drop from Monday is 30 percent, and that sums up the film's poor result. War 2 Adds Rs 6.75 Crore On Day 7 In India; Lowest Single Day Of The Run So Far War 2 's total collections in India after 7 days, stands at Rs 226.75 crore gross. The film heads for an extended weekend of Rs 233 crore or so. The rejection is across the board, and now, even a Rs 275 crore final looks difficult. Only if there is some sort of consolidation in collections in the second weekend, will it scamper through the Rs 275 crore India gross mark. The Day Wise Gross India Collections Of War 2 Are Are Under Day India Gross Collections Thursday Rs 59 crore Friday Rs 67 crore Saturday Rs 38 crore Sunday Rs 36 crore Monday Rs 9.50 crore Tuesday Rs 10.50 crore Wednesday Rs 6.75 crore Total Rs 226.75 crore gross in 7 days War 2 Heads For A Finish In The Vicinity Of Rs 350 Crore At The Global Box Office War 2 is also a no show at the overseas box office. The movie may, at best, cross USD 10 million. This is not a good place to be in, when you have two big A-listers and a massive budget. A Rs 350 crore gross worldwide finish is what looks realistic. That would mean that the film's worldwide gross will be lower than its budget. It will end up being a rare movie where even the producers lose money. Generally, producers end up making their money. But here, YRF will lose, and along with them, even the Andhra distributor and the actors who decided to get into profit-sharing will lose.

Vivek Agnihotri Alleges "Top Authorities" Tried To Block The Bengal Files Trailer: "Not Possible Without Permission"

New Delhi: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took a dig at the Mamata government over the ruckus at the trailer launch of his upcoming movie The Bengal Files in Kolkata, alleging that it was "already planned," and that no event of this scale, with 150-200 people and media present, could be halted without "official involvement". The incident, which took place at the ITC Royal Bengal in Kolkata on August 16, 2025, saw the screening of the film's trailer abruptly stopped. While speaking to ANI, Agnihotri shared that the trailer launch program was running smoothly before the visuals on a large LED screen were suddenly stopped. He stated that it was impossible for an event happening in "one of India's biggest five-star hotels," with "150-200 people" and media present, to be halted without official involvement. The director also said that he was informed that "top authorities" had raised objections to certain parts of the trailer, and hence, it could not be played. "In one of India's biggest five-star hotels, imagine there is such a big LED screen, the whole program is running, the visuals are playing. And the entire media of Kolkata, 150-200 people, are sitting and running the program. Is it possible to do this without permission? It is not possible," the filmmaker told ANI. "Look, governments in India have so many loopholes, and the government has so many powers. They can take anything out whenever they happened was a man came and cut the was already planned." "I made a mistake. Many people were writing that they wouldn't let me stay here. The multiplex where we were planning to hold the event was cancelled. As soon as I landed at the airport, I found out that it was cancelled. We contacted another multiplex, and it was cancelled, too. They said that they wouldn't be able to survive politically if they showed the trailer here," he further said. "So, this happened with the hotel. Same thing. I asked them, 'Who has refused?' They said, 'Top authorities.' That same reliable source then told me that they had a problem with a couple of things in the trailer, and that's why it was stopped," Agnihotri added. When asked if he believes the film will release in Bengal, the filmmaker said he hopes the government will not "take away the rights of their own people." But if the release is blocked, Agnihotri said he trusts the "Constitution of India and the law of India," and would fight for the film's release if needed. "I hope God gives them wisdom. And that they don't do such foolish things where they take away the rights of their own people. They shouldn't do that," said the filmmaker. But if that happens, then I will say that I have a lot of faith in the Constitution of India and the law of India. And I will fight for it." The film explores the communal violence in undivided Bengal during the 1940s, including events like the 1946 Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots of 1946, a Hindu genocide.

Mithun Chakraborty Claims Trinamool "Planned" The Bengal Files Trailer Halt: "In Bengal, FIRs Are Distributed Like Kurmura"

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's directorial The Bengal Files, which focuses on the events of the Direct Action Day and the 1946 Calcutta killings, has landed in controversy even before its release. Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty discussed the controversy surrounding the trailer launch of The Bengal Files in Kolkata, expressing surprise at the entire ruckus without even watching the film. He also blamed the ruling party in the state, saying everything was "planned". Speaking to ANI, he said, "Everything was planned, but it was so surprising to me, without even seeing the trailer, without even seeing anything, they are opposing it for what? To face the truth? So, that is the problem. Nothing else." On August 18, during a press conference in Delhi, the filmmaker revealed that "FIRs have been filed by ruling party members" on the makers. Speaking about it, the Disco Dancer actor added, "In Bengal, FIRs are distributed like kurmura (puffed rice). Agar TMC ka koi chota-mota bhi hoga na, police station mein jayega FIR karo bolega, (police) kar dega. So, it was like that. So, never mind. If the FIR has been done, he (Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri) will fight it back. No problem". The film explores the communal violence in undivided Bengal during the 1940s, including events like the 1946 Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots of 1946. Chakraborty lashed out at the critics, saying, "Everybody is scared of the truth. That is the thing," adding that the young generation should know about the truth. "It's 1947, even before my birth, which we don't know about. The next generation should know about it what happened during Noakhali or (know) about the great Calcutta killings... What happened... We read a line... What happened? You don't want to know the truth?" he said. The Bengal Files also features Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi. It is focused on the events of the Direct Action Day, aiming to unveil the "most brutal chapter" of Indian history. A ruckus erupted during the release of The Bengal Files trailer in Kolkata on August 16. Agnihotri said during the press meet, "I am discovering the political scenario. I had thought how anybody could stop the trailer, but when we went to Kolkata, the multiplex refused to show the trailer after all the permissions in writing. "Then, the hotel chain stopped showing the trailer. The police the wrire then I was told that the ruling party filed many FIRs as we stand here today, the FIRs are filed on us by the ruling party members and I have been told that ruling party has major objection on portrayal untold story of Hindu genocide. They have a problem with that film about demographic change." The Bengal Files is slated to hit theatres on September 5, 2025.
