Lack of guidance at Ungaludan Stalin camp causes hardship to petitioners in Erode
The camp, aimed at delivering a wide range of government services, was conducted at a private marriage hall in Nochikattuvalasu, under the 46 Pudur Panchayat in Modakkurichi taluk. However, lapses in the conduct of the event left many people disappointed.
There were no staff present to guide the public or facilitate the process, and adequate seating arrangements were lacking. Personnel assigned to handle petitions reportedly lacked proper training, leading to long delays in registration. Most of the attendees were uncertain about whom to approach for help.
Long queues were seen throughout the day, especially among women applying for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, who were forced to wait for hours due to the slow and unclear processes.
Visitors — mostly elderly — faced considerable difficulty in submitting their applications to avail services. Both educated and uneducated individuals were affected, as there were no clear instructions or display boards outlining the procedures.
Further, several people who had not received application forms at their doorsteps were denied forms at the venue, leaving them unable to access the intended services.
Adding to the confusion, many petitioners who attempted to apply for multiple services in a single application were informed that only one service could be requested per form. This forced them to search for additional application forms, which were not readily available. As a result, many had to leave the venue without availing the services.
Despite the government's objective of bringing services closer to the people, the lack of planning, coordination, and clarity at the camp led to widespread frustration and dissatisfaction among the public.
