Joaquin Phoenix's woes after Joker 2's failure continue as thieves steal pricey possession from his LA home
The 50-year-old Oscar winner had a run-in with thieves at his LA-area home this week, law enforcement sources told TMZ on Thursday.
On Monday, Phoenix's car was reportedly stolen from his home, and police are now investigating the theft.
DailyMail.com has reached out to the actor's representative for comment.
Phoenix had a 2022 Volvo SUV that reportedly cost around $60,000 parked outside, though it's unclear if it was still on his property or on the street in front of his property.
The theft was reported by one of the actor's employees after they stepped out and noticed that the car was suddenly missing.

The law enforcement sources say Phoenix wasn't home at the time of the theft, so the worker who discovered it went ahead and filed a police report.
So far, there haven't been any arrests, though the investigation is said to be continuing.
Although the car was discovered stolen on Monday afternoon, it's unclear if the thief — or thieves — nabbed it earlier that day or if it could have been taken overnight.
It's also unknown if Joaquin's wife Rooney Mara was home when the theft was discovered.
The two had been living together since 2017, about a year after they started dating.
Phoenix and Mara later got engaged in 2019, and they welcomed a son named River — after Phoenix's late brother — in August of the following year.
Last year was pivotal for the couple, as they welcomed their second child — whose name and gender they haven't revealed — in June, and then they finally wed in September.
The two first worked together on the acclaimed romantic drama Her in 2013, and they later starred in the films Mary Magdalene and Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot.
The film grossed just over $200 million, despite costing nearly that much to make without factoring in advertising costs; still from Joker 2
The biblical film was shot prior to their relationship but released years later, while the later film was shot after they were already a couple.
Following the monster success of Joaquin's 2019 film Joker — which grossed more than $1 billion from a relatively modest budget — he has starred in a string of small films and box office disappointments.
In 2021, he appeared in Mike Mills' low-budget dramedy C'mon C'mon, and two years later he reemerged with two films, the Ari Aster–directed black comedy Beau Is Afraid and the historical epic Napoleon, which was directed by Ridley Scott.
Both films received polarizing reviews, and Beau Is Not Afraid failed to make back its $35 million budget, while Napoleon's $221.4 million gross reportedly still amounted to a significant loss when factoring in advertising costs, according to Deadline.
However, its distributor Apple has claimed the film was profitable after makign up the shortfall in digital rentals.
Last year's Joker was a shocking bomb for a comic book film, earning only a little over $200 million and receiving scathing reviews.
Phoenix will next be teaming up with Aster — who previously directed Hereditary and Midsommar — for Eddington, a Western film set in the present that also stars Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Austin Butler.

People say this social media habit is 'weird' — but you're probably guilty of it
A new rule has been added to the book of social media etiquette, and honestly, we feel called out. We're all guilty of following an Instagram account or two, just to be nosy. Maybe it's that girl who was popular at school, or that ex boyfriend youlove to hate on. And, so as not to be branded a lurker, you reply to their stories with a simple 'like'. That little heart symbol dances across the screen, and you can rest easy, knowing you're a nice person. Right? Wrong. 'I'm just now finding out that we aren't supposed to like people's IG stories,' wrote LA-based comedian Joey Pleasants on Threads. 'Some people think it's a form of flirting.' There's long been discussion about 'soft-cheating', which refers to the betrayal grey areas that technology brings; things like interacting with posts from Instagram models, subscribing to people's OnlyFans, or watching porn behind your partner's back. And now, liking an Instagram story has been firmly added to the list of shady social media behaviour you must avoid. One commenter had been burnt before, saying: 'My girl's friend complained to her that I was liking their stories, apparently it's weird.' X Factor icon Diana Vickers and Metro's dating expert Alice Giddings dive into your wildest sex, love, and dating dilemmas – every Tuesday. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or watch on YouTube. And be sure to follow and subscribe so you never miss an episode. You can also join the fun on our WhatsApp Group Chat here – share your dilemmas and Diana and Alice may just give you a call. When commenters on Joey's thread questioned why liking a story is such a crime, user Mikayla Schmitt summed it up for everyone. 'You're not supposed to like people's stories if you're in a relationship and the person's story you're liking is a person you find attractive/have an Internet crush on.' She also added: 'The photo could be inappropriate for a person in a relationship to be liking.' It might sound trivial, but 34% of people have ended a relationship due to something happening on social media. But while a story like might seem like nothing to some, for others' it could be a big deal. Nia Williams, founder of relationship coaching service Miss Date Doctor, previously told Metro: 'While physical infidelity is more easily defined… online connections can also be considered cheating, depending on the couple's boundaries and values.' Although one partner may see their online activity as 'curiosity or harmless fun,' Nia advises couples need to discuss how they'll naviage online interactions — including liking a persons' story. She adds: 'Have a heartfelt conversation with your partner where you can express your concerns, establish clear boundaries, and work together to find compromises that honour your relationship values.' If this is you, you're not alone. Many of the commenters on Joey's post admitted to liking stories with reckless abandon — and have recieved likes they can almost guarantee aren't flirtatious. 'Most of my followers are women older than my mother, and they like my stories. Pretty sure Debbie, Barbara, Cheryl, Susan, Linda, Pamela, Lisa, and Patricia aren't flirting with me,' wrote Brandy Simpson. More Trending 'Like what you like. It's why you follow people in the first place — because you like what they do. Let them know. Never waste an opportunity to make someone else feel good.' 'F**k that,' said another. 'Cute aesthetic pic? Heart. You said something funny? Heart. You look pretty? Heart. Food looks yummy? Heart. Idgaf.' Others called themselves 'story-liking goblins' and 'whores' when it came to liking their friends Instagram stories. View More » 'I'm like someone's great aunt on FB,' wrote Asia. 'If I see you having a grand time, looking great, or enjoying life, I'm going to like it. Far too people don't get hyped up and loved on. And in a world where we live at a distance, people need it.' Kilmarnock sisters will share the stage at The King's Theatre new production Shrek the Musical
For Niamh and Freya Lee, October will mark not just another show, but a shared milestone in their young careers Kilmarnock sisters are set to share the stage for the very first time in a major musical production this October. A 10-year-old Niamh Lee and 16-year-old Freya Lee have been double cast in Shrek the Musical at The King's Theatre in Glasgow, as Young and Teen Fiona. For Niamh, this year has delivered three remarkable stage triumphs, all on the historic stage of the King's Theatre. In January, she captivated audiences and critics alike in the title role of Annie, earning standing ovations and glowing industry and press coverage. By April, she had swapped the plucky optimism of America's favourite orphan for the poignancy and purity of Little Cosette in the UK amateur premiere of Les Misérables. Her performance was hailed as "breathtaking" by audiences and industry watchers alike and even caught the attention of London-based talent agents. Now, Niamh is set to return to the King's Theatre once again in October, stepping into the emerald world of Shrek the Musical as Young Fiona. In an extraordinary twist, she will share the stage with her older sister Freya, who has been cast as Teen Fiona in the production by Pantheon Theatre Company. Niamh said: "Young Fiona is such a fun character to play, she's full of energy and dreams, and I can't wait to bring that to life on stage. I feel really lucky to have been given this opportunity. "It's amazing to be playing Young Fiona, and to be doing it alongside my sister makes it even more special. "We've grown up watching each other perform, so to be in the same show, and playing the same character, is amazing. Freya has been helping me, and I've been encouraging her too. It's really nice to share the experience and the excitement with someone who knows exactly how it feels. "I'm really grateful to Pantheon for this opportunity and I can't wait to work again with some of the fantastic directors and producers I've had the chance to perform with before. The cast is full of incredibly talented people. I think audiences are going to love it." Freya, who will be balancing rehearsals with starting her fifth year at the prestigious Dance School of Scotland's Musical Theatre course, added: "The training I've received at the Dance School has been incredible, the teachers really push you to be your best and give you the skills to succeed on stage. "Being cast as Teen Fiona is such an exciting challenge, and getting to share the experience with my little sister is just the icing on the cake. "We've never performed together in a show like this before, so to both be playing Fiona at different ages is special." Theatre Company is promising a production packed with energy, colour, and show-stopping performances. The show will take place from Tuesday, October 7 until Saturday, October 11 and will bring all the beloved characters from the Oscar-winning smash hit film to life on stage. Freya shared: "I really hope people leave feeling uplifted and happy. Shrek is such a feel-good show with a brilliant message about being yourself and accepting others for who they are. There's a lot of humour, great songs, and some really touching moments too. If people go home humming the tunes and feeling a bit more joyful than when they came in, then we've done our job! "Seeing all the different elements, the music, the choreography, the costumes, start to click into place is great. "I like the scenes where the different versions of Fiona are on stage together, Young, Teen, and Adult Fiona. It's a clever way to show her journey, and also one of the moments that makes me smile the most because I get to share it with Niamh." Niamh added: "I love getting to know the cast and seeing how talented everyone is. Every rehearsal feels like so much fun. Marina Kelman who plays Princess Fiona was previously the star of Evita and her voice is just incredible. I love working with her, she is so talented and looks after us all. So many of the cast are so funny, and David our Producer always makes it so enjoyable." Ticket demand for Shrek the Musical has been phenomenal, with the Saturday matinee performance already sold out well ahead of opening night.
