CM Yogi urges patriotism at Kakori Train Action centenary
During the event, the Chief Minister saluted the martyrs of the Kakori train action, planted a Peepal tree at the venue, and participated in a Raksha Bandhan celebration by having rakhis tied by young girls, to whom he gifted sweets and chocolates. He also clicked photographs and selfies at the museum, honored the families of martyred soldiers on stage, and released a book based on the historic Kakori incident. The program featured cultural performances by the Culture Department, including a dramatic portrayal of the Kakori train action.
Yogi recalled the courage of the revolutionaries who, on 9 August 1925, seized the British government's treasury in Kakori and used it to fuel the freedom struggle. He noted that while only ₹4,600 was taken during the action, the British government spent over ₹10 lakh to capture them. Bravehearts like Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh, and Rajendranath Lahiri were executed without trial. Chandrashekhar Azad evaded capture by the British, choosing instead to fight valiantly and embrace martyrdom.

Historians says that Lord Mountbatten was planned to hand over power both India and Pakistan at August 15 midnight, but renowned Pakistani historian Khurshid Kamal Aziz writes in his book 'Murder of History', that the Viceroy was inclined to transfer power separately to both countries as he was the sole representative of the British Raj in India. After the transfer of power, the Pakistani cabinet along with the country's founder and first Governor-General Muhammad Ali Jinnah, took oath on the morning of August 15, 1947, and according to historical records, Pakistan celebrated the date as its first Independence Day. However, a year later, in 1948, Pakistan changed its Independence Day from August 15 to August 14, as a large section of Pakistan's population did not want to share the occasion with India.

BJP taking credit for Bengaluru Metro project, says minister Ramalinga Reddy
Bengaluru: Transport minister Ramalinga Reddy has accused the BJP of claiming credit for Namma Metro projects. Addressing mediapersons Saturday, a day before the Yellow Line inauguration, Reddy alleged BJP state president BY Vijayendra and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, among others, have taken credit for all Metro projects. The minister said the state govt is not a minor partner in Metro projects but a major stakeholder. "In Phase 1, Karnataka govt contributed 30% (including land); central govt share was 25% and the remaining was borrowed by BMRCL. In Phase 2, Karnataka contributed 30% plus land and most of the cost overruns, while the central govt contributed only 20%. The remaining 50% was borrowed. For Phase 3, Karnataka provided 20% funding, land and resettlement costs; central govt provided 20% and the remaining 60% was borrowed," he said. "Metro project belongs to the people, and is not the property of any political party. BJP functionaries are more interested in publicity than work, claiming credit for others' efforts," Reddy said.
