Oasis fans arrive at Murrayfield for Edinburgh opener
The shows come during Edinburgh's festival season, when the population of the city almost doubles during the month of August.Some hardcore fans braved blustery conditions outside the national rugby stadium on Friday afternoon to hear the band run through their soundcheck – hours before doors opened at 17:00.
An Oasis store which opened on George Street on Monday has already welcomed thousands of customers, some spending hundreds of pounds on official merchandise.It is estimated the concerts could provide the local economy with a boost of up to £130m.On Thursday evening, a giant drone display of the band's logo appeared in the skies over the stadium.Murrayfield was the site of Oasis's last Scottish concert on 17 June 2009 – mere months before they split at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.Support comes from 90s indie stars Cast and former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft.
A short walk from the stadium at Murrayfield Ice Rink, Scotland's top Gallagher tribute act Definitely Oasis warmed up the early crowd.Their lead singer, Brian McGhee, said the band had never been busier since the group reformed."We're always busy, but this is probably the busiest year we've had," he said."Next year is looking like being even busier. The demand has just gone insane, it has just gone through the roof."His bandmate, Noel Gallagher alter-ego Martin Reid, said it was easy to see why tickets for the gigs had been like gold dust."Noel's songs have just stood the test of time," he said."The thing is, it doesn't matter what you think of the band in terms of the attitude, the songs are just phenomenal."
The crowd could exceed the record set last year by Taylor Swift for the largest stadium concert in Scottish history.ScotRail has put on late-night services on top of an already enhanced festival timetable for those travelling from elsewhere in Scotland.Additional trains to Glasgow Queen Street, Dundee, Perth and Dunblane will leave from Haymarket, about a 15-minute walk from Murrayfield, after the gigs.

Two-and-a-half million people applied for tickets, which equated to more than 4% of the population at the time, making it the largest demand for gig tickets in British history. There's no doubt that Oasis could have sold out another two weeks' worth of shows based on the insatiable demand. Noel and Liam Gallagher and co. approached everything with fearless determination, and their relentless spirit made what seemed like the musical equivalent of scaling Everest feel like a walk in the (Knebworth) park. Knebworth undoubtedly stands as one of the boldest and most monumental events in British music history. Oasis transformed it into a defining moment – it wasn't just a milestone for the record-breaking band; it became a life-changing experience for everyone who was there. Marcus Russell, the band's manager, told NME in 2006: 'Knebworth wasn't meant to be a historic moment. It became one because of the people who experienced it – every kid who was there,' while Noel himself told the publication, 'It was the last great gathering of the people before the birth of the internet.' The 250,000-strong sold-out crowd didn't just witness one of the world's biggest bands at their peak; they also got to enjoy some of the most electrifying acts from the UK music scene, including The Charlatans, Ocean Colour Scene, The Prodigy, and more. Musician and Oasis fan Steve Mahoney also kept his tickets from that unforgettable day. His strongest memory is the thrill of hearing two brand new, unreleased Oasis tracks It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) and My Big Mouth, which would later appear on Be Here Now in 1997. Oasis's Knebworth shows are considered to have defined the Britpop era and had a significant impact on live music. New series of Beyond Paradise filmed in more areas of South West
Filming for the latest series of TV drama Beyond Paradise is taking place in more locations. The drama, set in the fictional Devon town of Shipton Abbott, is in production for its fourth series, the BBC has crews are due to return to Looe and Pentillie Castle in South East Cornwall which have already featured strongly in the story of Det Insp Humphrey Goodman - played by Kris Marshall - and his police colleagues. But new locations, including sites in Launceston, Saltash and Tavistock, have been added to by the producers for series four. The Saltash locations include some hidden away allotments close to Churchtown Farm, said Saltash Town council said it had been working with the production team to facilitate filming while minimising disruption.A spokesperson said: "We see this as a positive opportunity for Saltash, showcasing our town to a wider audience and supporting the creative industries."The Saltash Social Club in Fore Street announced it would be closed on 11 August when it will be used as a filming teams have also been seen at West Devon Club on Abbey Place, Tavistock. Crews will be filming in Looe, the fictional Shipton Abbott, at a time when many tourists are visiting the seaside include the Sardine Factory restaurant which is transformed by the programme makers to become the drama's "Ten Mile Kitchen".After the filming of the third series, Ben Palmer, chef and owner of the Sardine Factory, said the exposure had a very positive affect on the said: "Beyond Paradise has had a very positive impact on the town. 'Puzzling twists' Series four of Beyond Paradise continues to tell the personal story of Humphrey and his partner Martha while also following Det Insp Goodman and his colleagues as they solve a series of bizarre on Facebook, the show's producers said: "We're back in Shipton Abbott. Filming has begun this week on the brand-new series of #BeyondParadise."Expect plenty of puzzling twists and turns as the team gear up for another series full of mystery, humour, and heart on the sunny shores of Devon and Cornwall."The transmission date for the new series has not yet been released.

The Chase - The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes. With one more chance to win money, Gillian had another chance at the final jackpot question for £13,000. This time, with help from Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan. The question was: "Of these restaurants, which opened in the UK first? KFC, McDonald's, Domino's or Wagamamas." Katherine admitted she hasn't been in the UK that long, but knows McDonald's is really old. Gillian agreed as she recalled having birthday parties there when she was young. However, the correct answer was KFC - prompting gasps from the celebrities and leaving Gillian devastated. Michael called the episode "a heartbreaker" and a "rollercoaster night" as it is rare that all the contestants walk away with nothing. He ended the show saying: "We have no winner tonight, but thank you to all our experts. We'll see you next time - and hopefully we'll have a winner then - on The Wheel."
