After 11 years, Pankaja & Dhananjay come together on Gopinath Munde's death anniversary

Time of India2 days ago

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: After a gap of 11 years, the Munde cousins — minister Pankaja and former minister Dhananjay Munde — came together on Tuesday at Gopinathgad, in Beed's Parli Vaijnath, during the death anniversary observance of
BJP
politician
Gopinath Munde
.
Earlier, the cousins used to visit Gopinathgad separately each year, avoiding interaction due to their political differences.
Tuesday's occasion, featuring a religious ceremony and blood donation drive, garnered significant attention across Maharashtra, both for its political importance and the public reunion of the Munde cousins at the annual commemorative event.
While Dhananjay Munde remained silent during the event,
Pankaja Munde
addressed the gathering and shared memories of her father.
Before the event, Pankaja had said, "The NCP is now our ally, so we invited all functionaries from the party, including Dhananjay Munde. He is my cousin, and I am certain he will attend the function."
The cousins, feeling politically isolated, have shown solidarity at public events throughout the past year, having resolved their differences before the previous year's elections.
During her Gopinathgad speech, Pankaja said Dhananjay requested her to speak for the family.
"He (Dhananjay) told me, 'You speak for all of us.' I am grateful to everyone who stood by me over the years as I found my footing in politics. This is a family, and every year, we wonder what we can do to keep Gopinath Munde's memory alive," she said.
The BJP minister in the Devendra Fadnavis cabinet highlighted her father's public service. "If people knew how wounded he was, there would have been a wave of blood donations across the country.
Today, we conduct health and blood donation camps to honour his legacy. He lives on through his ideals and the love of the people," she said.
Referencing spiritual matters, Pankaja added, "Even Lord Ram and the Pandavas faced exile. I heard in the keertan today — greatness comes with pain."
Additionally, Pankaja discussed her recent accommodation allocation. "I was finally given the Ramtek bungalow, which I requested back in 2014. At the time, it was occupied by a senior minister. Today, it feels like a great honour and a rare moment in history that I received this bungalow after Munde Saheb. This is not just a residence; it symbolises responsibility and commitment," she said.

BJP worker murder case: SC allows Karntaka Congress MLA Kulkarni to place additional documents

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted a day's time to Congress' Karnataka MLA and former Minister Vinay Kulkarni to place on record additional documents against the state government's plea for cancellation of his bail in connection with the murder of BJP worker Yogesh Gowda over allegations of witness-tampering. A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma turned down the request of Kulkarni's counsel to adjourn the hearing till next week for bringing certain documents which were filed before the trial court. After much persuasion, the Justice Karol-led Bench adjourned the hearing till Friday, and in the meantime, asked Kulkarni's lawyer to bring on record the additional documents. "It shall be open for the respondent (Vinay Kulkarni) to place on record any document either during the course of the day or hand over the same during the course of the hearing tomorrow," ordered the apex court. Earlier on Wednesday, the Justice Karol-led Bench restrained the trial court from examining any witnesses till further orders, and listed the matter for hearing on June 5. Kulkarni, presently the Chairman of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board, was accused of conspiring in the murder of BJP Zilla Panchayat member Yogesh Gowda in 2016. He was then a cabinet minister in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government. Though his name came up, no action was initiated against him. The BJP made it an issue, and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa vowed at election rallies that he would send Kulkarni to jail if the BJP was voted to power. Later, the case was handed over to the CBI, and Kulkarni was arrested. He spent more than 9 months in jail and finally obtained bail from the Supreme Court. Last year, the Karnataka High Court had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete the inquiry and questioning of witnesses in the case swiftly. Kulkarni, who is deemed close to Siddaramaiah, was elected from the Dharwad Assembly seat in the 2023 state polls, despite the court banning his entry into the constituency, and his wife and daughter campaigning on his behalf.

"If Terrorism Is At India's Doorstep Today...": All-Party Delegation In Belgium

Brussels: All-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad interacted with the MEPs from the Delegation for Relations with India, Foreign Affairs Committee, and Security and Defence in Belgium. The delegation is visiting key global capitals to highlight india's stand on terrorism. BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari told ANI that today India is fighting terrorism in different forms. "We are almost at the last leg of our tour of the delegation that Ravi Shankar Prasad has led. Today we are in Brussels, which is the seat of the European Union and home to 27 European countries. Therefore, it is very important for India to stand before them and to place before them the facts that had transpired after the April 22nd attack. It is not as if India cannot take care of itself, but the right perspective of the entire episode needs to go across". The MP also warned that if terrorism is at India's doorstep today, it could be at the doorstep of another country sooner or later. "The terrorism that India has been suffering for the last 7 decades, I think the entire world knows, and today we are not fighting conventional terrorism, but rather we are fighting terrorism in different forms. It could be radicalisation or indoctrination, monetary support, and many forms of it. Therefore, if it is at India's doorstep today, it could be at the doorstep of another country sooner or later. Therefore, the international community must realise that calling the devil by name is long overdue. We know that Pakistan has been perpetuating state-sponsored terrorism...," she added. "We are almost at the last leg of our tour of the delegation that Ravi Shankar Prasad Ji has led. Today we are in Brussels, which is the seat of the European Union and heads 27 European countries. Therefore, it is very important for India to stand before them and to place before… — Daggubati Purandeswari 🇮🇳 (@PurandeswariBJP) June 4, 2025 BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana said, "India is one of the world's fastest growing economies. "Devil Quoting From Scriptures": BJP MP Hits Out At Pakistan's US Outreach

Washington DC: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya slammed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and called Pakistan's delegation to New York "the Devil quoting from the scriptures." Speaking to the media at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, BJP MP Surya said, "Bhutto has been calling his delegation a peace delegation, and it is quite ironic that the Pakistani delegation is speaking the language of peace. It's like the Devil quoting from the scriptures. For a country that is trying to create fake heroes by promoting failed generals to field marshal, they don't know what true leaders look like." Comparing India's military equipment to Pakistan's, he said that the latter is surviving on "cheap Chinese imports." He added that it is hard for Pakistan to digest high-quality military hardware and democratic leadership in India. "Pakistan has been surviving on cheap Chinese imports, including military hardware, which spectacularly failed on the battlefield. So perhaps it is hard for them to digest high-quality, high-calibre military hardware as well as strong democratic leadership on the other side of the border..." he said. MP Surya presented a contrast between Indians and Pakistanis in the USA. He named Ramzi Yousef, the man behind the 1993 World Trade Centre bomb and David Coleman Headley, charged with conspiracy in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, to present his case against Pakistan. "I would just want to take this opportunity to give you 5 names from India and Pakistan, which clearly demonstrate what India stands for and what Pakistan stands for in America. Ramzi Yousef, 1993 World Trade Centre bomb. David Coleman Headley had made 26/11 charges of conspiracy... Now, 5 Indian names - Indra Nooyi, Sundar Pichai, Ajay Bagga, Satya Nadella, Kash Patel...- I don't have to give an explanation on an introduction to any of these. This is as stark a difference as it can be between these two countries. So Mr. Bhutto's two-day adventure here today, a two-day trip here, will not wash away this proven track record of Pakistan," the BJP MP said. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari led a Pakistani delegation in New York, and addressing a press conference at the UN Headquarters in New York, he called India's Operation Sindoor "illegal strikes." He said that Pakistan was only acting in self-defence, as reported by Dawn. MP Tejasvi Surya is a part of India's delegation to the USA led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. The delegation arrived in the US on Wednesday. The delegation includes Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejasvi Surya, Bhubaneswar Kalita (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora.
